Thanks. You're likely right. The only thing that happened was me banging my head against a wall in other Touhou games. I doubt that was helpful enough to allow such an improvement.

Edit: this Imperishable Night run was much better. Bombed a bit less, plus I've never seen so many Last Spells at once.

So, I did 9-7 DS on my regular savefile way back before I started doing 90FPS DS with a new score.dat and all.

So I got to Stage 9, couldn't clear any stages. So I went "herp derp, let's play Seamless Ceiling! Maybe I'll get lucky or some shit." Since I was rather annoyed that I would have 9-7 as a blank spot on the savefile since I was assuming I'd never do it again.

Four shots.

I am not even fucking kidding. FOUR SHOTS. Far cry from the 2000 or so I spent on the first clear I had of this.

I've done this stage at 90FPS three times in total now, for one reason or the other. I don't even....

-Hitting Mima's EX orbs with a charge attack is a surefire way to land yourself the most insulting death possible. Unless you can dodge a screen-full of sizeable, light-speed balls. Which evidently I enjoy trying to do. All the time.
-Either I've had some wicked luck (and horrible vision) or you can cancel pellets by hitting fireballs with a charge attack, without the need of a chain. That is, fireballs have an explosion when hit with a charge attack. [You mentioned that fireballs don't explode when hit with a shot.]
-Sounds like this is especially important with Rikako's, but any charge attack that has an initial slow period should be pooped right on top of a boss whenever possible.
-vs Chiyuri, I find it helpful to generally avoid the middle third of the screen. I hang out on one side then jump across the screen whenever a shitstorm approaches. This greatly reduces risk from pellets and fireballs, and the delay in Chiyuri's lvl2/3 is long enough that it doesn't start firing until I've already moved. I think I only use this against Chiyuri. And never against Yumemi.

Pretty easy, yes, but a bigger accomplishment for me is that I seem to have started to develop a deathbomb reflex

I think I should play some TD, has been some time since I play it...

Edit: Turns out I forgethow to do TD entirely, but I managed to 1cc MoF Easy on All Marisa shottype as well :]

Completed Perfect Cherry Blossom on normal.

Now, I know what you're thinking. Any half-baked bullet hell fan can do that. But there's more to my story than that.

Technically, this isn't my first time beating that. A couple years back, when I first discovered Touhou, I started with perfect cherry blossom. I was sucked in: I loved it, and kept coming back for more even after trying the other games in the series. After dozens upon dozens of tries, I finally, finally beat it on normal. Shortly afterwards, my interest waned, and I began to move on to other things.

Then, as it does, my interest returned. Several months later, I came back, and began right where I left off: PCB Normal. And yet, my skills had deteriorated in that time: I couldn't quite manage to beat the game again. Eventually I gave up, my interest waning again. This repeated for quite a while, until a few days ago. That was when I finally, after numerous tries, managed to recover my claim to fame: A 1CC clear of Perfect Cherry Blossom. I was finally once again as good at Touhou as I ever was.

The kicker? I won with two lives and two bombs left. After all those failures, I finally claimed victory with room to spare.

Cleared 8-6 and 11-1 on 90FPS Double Spoiler.

Not even sure what system I'm using for the order of scenes.

I'm more or less picking at random now.

250 shots later and 6-8 has finally been cleared.

All clear of scenes 1-6. Not bad! Followed shortly by 7-1.

Cleared 50 scenes in total now.

And then 7-3. 7-3 is the worst card. Fuck that shit.

K.B. - All good points, yeah. Especially staying to one side against Chiyuri. It's a good idea against almost anyone really, when your lvl4 is on the enemy's field, or at least if you notice the lvl4 starts using a reflectable attack. I usually move to one side until the enemy's screen is clear. I'd also never heard that Rikako is supposed to counter Chiyuri in particular. It always seemed to me that she just kills anyone really quickly. I guess her strength is in her gears, so her advantage may very well be exaggerated further against Chiyuri.

And about spirits exploding from a charge attack, I have to admit there have been times when I suspected that was going on, though I've never found any solid evidence in any of my recordings. You don't happen know of a particular character that does it, do you?

Somewhat related: I've found that lvl2 and lvl3 spell attacks are sometimes missing bullets for no clear reason. It's especially funny when Kotohime's bombs explode and nothing comes out.

A very measly performance throughout, failing the easiest of the spells (midboss Parsee lol), yet this run ended with the most resources - six lives yay! And I captured all spells after Utsuho's first one in one go too. x3

Oh and I almost managed to capture Cat Walk on zero power, but THE pixel kept me from achieving that (THE pixel refers to the last pixel of boss health, that is your death dissolves the spell). Shit.

Finally unlocked Hatate at 90FPS. I made good progress over the last two days, from "stopped playing at 5-6" to "unlocked Hatate".

SP-8 is one of the most infuriating cards. Not amazingly difficult, not by comparison to other shit but still really annoying since I'm not sure what determines whether she'll jump straight at you and take a potshot and kill you if you don't see it coming or if she just continues on her normal zigzagging path.

Do you have to clear all 108 scenes with one character to get that ending screen, type thing? Or can you split it among the characters? Because seriously Hatate makes a joke out of some of the scenes.

Yes, they all have to be with Aya.
I have 107/108 (missing EX-5) and I just TASed it with Hatate.

Most n00b-tier achievement ever, but I finally 1cced UFO Normal (using Reimu-A, but I switch randomly between all of the shot types).
I was pretty happy with the OVERALL performance, though I did die on a lot of stupid, preventable things (like Byakuren's FIRST nonspell o3o).
I reached her with 6/3, but I kept dying with bombs in stock, and finished 0/0 on Flying Fantastica V:
Still, knowing that match could easily have finished at 3 or 4 lives, I'm pretty happy, and I capped some alright stuff, like Devil's Recitation and the second Nue (not good at her at all).
However, Reimu-A's shot is atrocious for the Extra Stage.
I'm seriously contemplating clears with Reimu-B and Sanae-B in the near future.
But I should go and do Subterranean Animism ._.

Yeah, timing out Sanae's opener really isn't hard considering that I just timed it out again. I think that's 2/3, with the first attempt taking 2 tries (this is the first attempt after that).

I captured EX-5.
I have 108/108 with Aya in DS now.

and more importantly, I got 5 of the 8 familiars photographed in shot 4, giving me a free shot 5!

Of course, now I have to go do 32 of the harder scenes with Hatate now.

All I did was one failed run (made it to Stage 6 midboss Orin) and then six Stage 5 and 4 practices. o3o
Note there have been a couple of lolattempts where I've gone flying about and died on Parsee or Yamame and ragequitted, but I won't count those...
Only EoSD remains, and it looks utterly doable.
I got to Red Magic, and lost my last life 70 points from an Extend, and somehow I died even though a bomb went off right before/after the bullet hit me.

IaMP Hard Mode Clear with Reimu! God, that was one hell of a drag. Key difference was, once again, not losing any lives to Remilia for the first time. Blew the usual Extra Life on Yukari and had almost two full Extra Lives for Suika's last Spellcard. Saving all my resources for the last part with the vortex was a good idea I guess, lost almost everything I had to that one part. The Spellcard is fun until the last phase, at that point it just turns into a matter of how the hell I'm supposed to actually deal damage. Think she took three Spellcards to the face before she finally went down, but just inputting the command for Spellcards while you're being sucked into the next bullets is one hell of a gamble already.
Was contemplating just programming my controller to input them automatically after my lack of input ability cost me my last run, but chose not to since it would have felt kind of lame.

Nonetheless, the switch to fighting games has been awesome so far. IaMP definitely has its fair share of flaws, but seeing me improve somewhat rapidly really is a pleasant experience.

Next one is Lunatic, then I'll move on to SWR!
