I can't even describe how awful (amazing(ly terrible)?) this run is. I perfected the first two stages. Then I captured Nitori's mid-boss spell which I have never managed to cap before. Then I die to her first spell and then her second non-spell. Then more shenanigans in stage 4. Aya clips me with Saruta Cross. Two bombs at her survival. Two more at her last spell (goddammit, that shit is easy!). Then derp-deaths in stage 5, Sanae bitchslaps me, clips me one more time and then I capture her last spell for the first time.

Stage 6. Bomb where necessary. Capture Kanako's opener because at this point I had no faith left that this is going to work out (previous run had two more lives at this point) - I'm going all out now. Deathbomb her stupid clippy crop spell. Manage to cap her third non-spell as well. This is not as bad as I thought. A few quick dodges at Source of Rains and a last bomb to finish it off. VoWG time. First few bombs okay, now I'm actually using my resources. Then death - nooooo, I could have bombed at least one more time. Now it's getting intense. Use up the remaining bombs and then on zero power and zero lives I survive the spell and beat that dumb wench.

Now I'm happy (In all seriousness, waugh, I didn't expect this of all things to happen). xD

I figured out in the past (with a lot of trial and error and stage 1 suiciding) that one of them is either percentage of point items collected or percentage of total items collected. I think it was the one below game completion. No idea about the rest.

So I went and timed out Apollo 13 on Normal.

Then I thought, Lunatic shouldn't be all that different, right? Ahaha, wrong. That was epic failure.

I decided that if I couldn't time it out, I may as well go for a capture. So I switch to Yukari solo (who I use for most of my captures now).

It was a pretty terrible clear though. I made really stupid stage mistakes in Stages 2-4. LFO was easier than I was expected, and of course, I ran into a bullet while Byakuren was already buzzing at low health, ruining my would-be capture. But, who cares. I DID IT.

Really?  That's surprising, I'd put either SA or TD second hardest, depending on which I manage to clear first.

So...3DNB timeout, when my best is 2DNB.  However, this is my longest survival into the card, so I'm happy.

I beat Yumemi first round on Lunatic.

The early bombing and the second hit make sense with the cpu getting boxed in by fast-moving and direction-changing orbs (which shows the potential payoff of going full-tilt and sending ex-attacks with a boss summon, at least with Reimu), and the first hit makes sense if the cpu is on some sort of timer (like with PoFV, which I assume it must be), but the third hit was bizarre.  Waltzed right into the path of the moons, had ample time and space to readjust, but - instead of moving - it just sat there and got squished.

That would have been a short round even for a third or fourth attempt, let alone the first.


I suppose my next goal is getting lunatic 1ccs in PoDD with all characters (aside from Chiyuri, duh; my hard 1cc will likely have to suffice there).  Reimu didn't feel like much of an accomplishment... just had to get used to the increased pace and using a more reserved strategy.  That is: in hindsight, trying to kill every single fireball and always trying to maintain a chain were making things unnecessarily crazy.  PoDD's quirks are slightly more infuriating than PoFV's, so I'll probably soon trade crosses for hotdogs as the subject of my profane outbursts; but now that I have a taste of blood, I know I won't be able to put this down at least until I'm satisfied that I've taken it as far as I can.  Plus holy shit that soundtrack (pre-st8 music especially; pity there doesn't appear to be a single good arrangement of it).

There's a separate screen for 108/108, but i'm not sure if that would could as an "ending"

I think there's also a separate one for clearing all scenes with both characters, though I'm not sure if it's the same one as the 108/108 one. I only remember that I was surprised, then again, I can't even remember the 108/108 one.

Ah, that explains the situation. I don't think this particular case is forbidden, at least Nintendonut did not face any repercussions for posting a screenshot of the last message of the UFO credits back when he perfected Byakuren.

So I thought Eirin was harder than Kaguya. At least on Hard this is the case. Suddenly Kaguya steps her game up by 200% and goes all out blowing me away like nothing. Her final rainbow spell, I wasted absolutely everything on it and as always, I ended the game with zero resources. A LOT of lucky dodges were involved, I didn't even quite know what I was doing at that point.

Imagine, had I died at her last spell and ruined the entire run; no, I don't wanna think about it. But wow. I did it and that's all that matters right now.  =P

Welp.  Guess it was bound to be a pretty cool run of the stage given I'd had to continue and all so I had the default 3 lives, but...I would have NEVER thought I'd, for my first time beating her, 1D Kanako(and ND the stage by remembering I can abuse bombs due to the last fairy's power items).  (Only Normal, but still.)

Also for my first time defeating her, a capture of the titular card was definitely a nice bonus.  I'd faced "Mountain of Faith" a few times before, but not too many.  I feel like due to the bombspam you can do in this game I might be able to pull off a no-death run someday. 

...is a 1-death run even that big a deal if MoF, given the abusability of bombs?  Ah well, I finally have Stage 6 in Practice Mode so I can keep whacking at it without having to go through the first five stages, so there's that.

So yeah.  Finally got Stage 6 normal in practice and capped Mountain of Faith.
