You can abuse the nonspell too, which sets you up for the spell more easily.

Obviously nowhere near as good as my last achievement but I finally capped Ran and Komachi's nonspells and got every scene in the first five stages except 5-5.

Yes! Finally! 1CC Normal UFO for one shot type on all three characters (ReimuA, MarisaA, SanaeB). MarisaA just happened today and I completely fucked up Byakuren and barely pulled out the win. I went into Stage 6 with six extra lives and came out with 0/0. That's pretty sad considering I can do Byakuren in Stage Practice and only lose one or two lives most times. It's all in the nerves. Now for the other three...

Got through SA Hard with ReimuA today, with even three lifes leftover! Usually I main MarisaA and even did quite well up to Orin in stage 5 today, but a lot of derp deaths (and the shottypes' rather weak focus-shot) hindered me from doing well leaving me only one life upon the start of stage 6; you can imagine the rest yourself. D:

I did practice stage 5 afterwards though and have gotten significantly better at it, especially Orin whose non-spells - which used to give me a fair amount of trouble and cost me a load of bombs - I can pretty much consistently capture now (~~thanks to somebody else whose tactic I totally didn't rip off~~).

And I captured Saigyouji Flawless Nirvana in IN with Marisa/Alice (but no MAlice cannon!) which was an absolute nightmare, took me a good 60 tries before I finally got it. After Reimu's Fantasy Nature, the hardest Last Word I have faced so far...

(My first SA hard clear had 2/5 going into the final stage, and I only died to Subterranean sun because I tried to capture it at 2 power)

Ah, I went after the translation Touhou Wiki gave me. :p

Also with one life I literally meant a single life, that is death = game over. I did get a second life during the fight against Okuu but it didn't help much as I failed her second spell hardcore. :X

Oh dear lord, I barely managed a PCB 1cc on Hard.

Up to Alice everything was going silk-smooth, then I started dying on her non-spells *gasp* (for some reason I die more to non-spells than spells, go figure), then I started bombing rather excessively in stage 4. The Fairy mid-boss drained two more bombs and a life, Prismriver-Sisters weren't any better.

Then stage 5, I did surprisingly well capturing almost all spells of Youmu - for the record, I suck so hard at her it's not funny - and went confidently into stage 6. Again getting Youmu safely out of the way I faced Yuyuko and then everything went downhill. Bombing everywhere, losing a life with two bombs in stock along with it and then with zero lives her last attack; stupid butterfly survival. Oh how I loathe this spell, IN made me hate it with a passion, thankfully you can slip through the red butterfly rings before they expand into long pillars. Welp, I managed to get through the first five phases or so and then bombed the last two just to be on the safe side because I would have slapped myself had I died right before beating the arcade mode.

First one's never easy, I'm sure I can improve on my Hard Run later on but for now this'll do. Oh boy are my hands shaking. xD

I attempted a no-focus no-bombs run of EoSD Lunatic. I reached Scarlet Meister at least, though half of the deaths were stupid, including the one to Scarlet Meister. I might try this again sometime, since it's quite ridiculous. It also makes me think a no-death run might be possible, which is something I'd love to do.

Finally cleared 8-6. I swear those bullets magically expand to double the hitbox size when they feel like irritating me.

Also got 10-3.

Probably going to do 8-4 next. Why does Yuyuko have nothing but cards that are doable but really annoying at 90 FPS? At least this is the last one.

I just got VoWG lunatic down to 51 seconds.
I then proceeded to die 4 times before the card ended.

I can totally do this, 2/3 of the way there.

I finished a SA speedrun attempt, something like 17:55 starting time on beginning of stage 1 and ending when Utsuho explodes. Somewhere around 17:20 would probably be a great time.

On top of that, I did it with seven lives in stock. I feel proud...I've come so far. But there's still quite a ways to go...next, I'm hoping I can 1CC UFO on Hard.

Um, I really just need to 1cc SA on hard. this is my unlock of stage 6 that I just did (right after getting stage 5 finally). It literally only took me like 3 or 4 tries. My biggest problem getting here was beating stage 5 on continues (mostly just being stupid). If I practice stage 3-5 for a while, this should be a snap.

Also, these are the spell records from those few tries

All but one of those captures were from the last run. 4 were on the first encounter

Alright, GFW A1 Lunatic Clear! Lunatic took some time to get used to, but overall the run was nice. 5 left, guess I'll upload everything in one go when I've finished the game.

Which reminds me, kudos to the game for actually causing lag-spikes when I freeze everything during the part with the huge fairies in the second half of Stage A2.

Edit: A2 clear, seemed much easier than A1 this time around, but the run was horrible, I think I made mistakes in all the places where you shouldn't make them. Whatever, that's what the game's about, fun! And a clear is a clear.

UFO Normal SanaeB 1cc.

This was my first time playing this game's normal mode.

While I do think it's probably one of the harder games of the series, I feel this is somewhat balanced by the ridiculous amounts of resources the game throws at you. I had max lives by mid stage 3 for crying out loud. I had enough bombs by that point to bomb-spam my way through anything that I couldn't handle from that point on, especially considering the last stage is basically built for you to collect tons of bombs and spam them at Byakuren, which I totally did.

Mind you, I would imagine my trigger happiness with bombs is all that carried me through that run since I ended with no lives and one bomb (I bombed when Byakuren started exploding for security because throwing the run there would be daft.)

So. All this leaves of the series (that I'm actually willing to play) is Mystic Square and Subterranean Animism.

Haha, sounds cool, only took a quick look at it and thought it was the most epic Extra Stage ever.
Getting closer, B1 Lunatic Clear, halfway through Lunatic with that. Again, seemed significantly easier, at least it didn't take me nearly as long as on Normal and Hard, wonder if it's still the hardest route.
