Second 1cc!

This feels weird because it took me a couple of attempts with the "bomb everything" mindset using ReimuB, but i can't do the same thing with MarisaA... (i had a lot of runs with a lot of resources before Shou/midboss Nazrin, but for some reason i always decide that i'm going to "CAPTURE THIS SHIT", and then i fail miserably :V)

Hey, that's strange. I just did my own second 1cc of UFO, with ReimuB. :wat:

Much better than my first 1cc. The only problem was Shou, despite my recent practice runs against her. Byakuren could have been better too, so yeah, room for improvement. The biggest accomplishment here is getting over my hatred of the UFO system. Took me long enough to realize how fun this game is. :derp:

Don't worry about it. Shou's the kinda gal who lures you to believe that you really got her down and then when you've got your back turned she leaps for the jugular. That's just how she is.

So, what I really want to know: The last sentence... does that mean that you know find the UFO system to be good? Your next goal is to realize that the game is best game in the series. Why? Because dat Stage *insert stage number here* boss man...

Oh man it's been a while since I posted here.

Anyway I just realized it's been 3 years now since I first started playing Touhou and later other shmups.
So I figured I had to do something Touhou related to celebrate.

So here's an EoSD Ultra 1cc.
First try funnily enough.

Some sick dodging here and there. Also lots of running into bosses because I can't remember stuff.

In fact I do like the UFO system. Once you've figured out the general idea for each area they're pretty fun to work with. Playing as someone who can move while bombing probably helped me see things that way as well. :derp: It's a system that works just fine if your only goal is chasing down the red ones, but it also provides lots of comlexity if you really want to get further into it than that. I might even go so far as to say that scoring the game might be interesting to me, though the thought of mindlessly grazing things still turns me off.

So yeah, I won't hesitate to say it's my favorite of the "normal" games, but I'm still a Phantasmagoria dork.

Also congrats Jaimers. Unfortunately I don't which Ultra it is so I can't watch it. D:

I know the feeling. Here's what you gotta do. Keep making a few stabs at it now and then. Make a bit of progress and when the game get's too annoying, you stop playing it and come back later. Eventually you get good enough to love it.

It's a tough love though. It is the kind of game that doesn't feel bad about totally ruining your day and then ask you to spend 3 minutes of nothing before you can try again.

Have you seen the kind of grazing is involved? It's not exactly a mindless process though I can still understand what you mean. That's how it often is for me. Find a score system that's interesting but it's got a few elements in it that you really don't like and those are mandatory to properly score which kills the interest.

UFO has been getting to "best game" for me recently, since SA stole it from PCB stole it from MoF.

Which is weird, because I don't like UFO collection.

Okay, I do.

I hate being bad at UFO collection, which is an inevitablity.

Anyway, I'm about to take a second try at 90FPS MoF. Let's see if I can beat Nitori this time :V
If I'm getting stopped up by Aya at 60 AND at 90 FPS, then there's a bit of a problem :getdown:

Oh boy oh boy luckbased Unzan Eye safespotting.

Honestly the only time I've ever seen a grazing system implemented that I actually found fun was in ExCeed 3rd and Trigonometry Wars 4. And Psyvariar probably.
UFO system is fun though.

EoSD Extra 90fps Clear

This was my secret little treat for quite a while now. And by that, I mean a few days. On the first time I tried this I could tell this would be insanely fun, and indeed it was.

It's like a return to the first time you tacked the stage. Four of a Kind is suddenly a big challenge. Maze of Love is impossible to spiral around. ATWTBN's red waves are unreadable. QED is a brick wall. So much fun~

The only major derps in this run is a death to the *easy* books part and, as usual, to Catadioptric, which is even MORE unparalleled derp than on 60fps. Pros include a Cranberry Trap capture and a cool red wave dodge in ATWTBN. Silent Selene cap is not really a pro since the capture is almost always completely dependent on her movement (or lack thereof).

I probably should have learned a way to NOT waste a bomb on Royal Flare EVERY RUN, but eh, lazy.

I capped Starbow Break on two consecutive runs once. Can't do it since. ;-;

Really the only cards I didn't capture ever were: Phil Stone, MoL, Counterclock, ATWTBN and QED.

Speaking of Counterclock, those lasers like tackling you out of nowhere. Happened a few times. I think I'm scarred for life.

Oooooooh I'm so happy right now. This was so fun.
