Rumia Quest III: Hero of Shadow

> "I'm not a youkai!" Rika protested. It seems she's still in denial. "I'm a HUMAN. I'll never be one of you scum! You're just tring to put me through some kind of mental torture! It ain't gonna work!" Rika said.

> "Oh yeah, I forgot to mention. Despite her being a youkai, she's not displayed any magical ability at all. Which is very weird. All youkai I know of have some power, no matter how mundane." Kanako said.

> "I'm suppose it's no harm, seeing as they're long gone from Gensokyo. You won't recognise the names, but the Hakurei Maiden will. I owe them no alliance, after all, they just gave me some help while they lodged in my base to research Gensokyo's magic or something I don't care about. Their names were Yumemi Okazaki and Chiyuri Kitashirakawa. Tell those names to the Hakurei maiden, they mentioned they know her, and had to hide from her." Rika said.

[Hanzo K.]

> Food is the fastest way to recharge... but there is a decent time lag between eating and actually getting the energy. It'll be a couple of hours before you actually feel any stronger.

> "Unless she has some kinda power like... uh... uwwwa.... I dunno, something strong!" Kogasa said.

> "Shinki was within Makai's maisma, and hence, she still had a lot of the power she would have had in her own realm, although not to the degree of being outright invunerable. If she had left the maisma, she'd probobly have been considerably weaker. Not weak, but not nigh invunerable like she was." Kanako said. "Besides, her intentions were not evil, she was misguided about the situation, and her want to 'rescue' Alice became an obsession, and she couldn't accept Alice wanted to stay in Gensokyo."

[Hanzo K.]

>Nod. "Yeah, just really crazy ways of going about 'em. But she's a nice lady, I don't doubt that. Maybe I should visit sometime when she's at Alice's, it'd be nice to know more about my past!"

Kanako said. "As goddesses ourselves, we know a thing or two about what power does to your mindset if there's no-one else to rival your powers."

> "She probobly can't right now. You need magic to use danmaku... and she currently has no magic at all, because she's not found whatever her power is... or even accepted she's a youkai." Suwako said.

>Grin even bigger. "The fun thing? Fights like that one we had can be brushed away into the past, and even looked back on fondly over drinks! It's a nice and peaceful way to live, free of too much worry of human problems."

> When you come to think of it, a lot of youkai seem to be taking younger or weaker youkai under their wings recently. Maybe it's just out of boredom now they can't hunt humans.

[Note: Unless you want to talk to Reimu about what Rika said, and her being a youkai and whatever, RC3 will end once you leave the Shrine. The next quest will not be a Rumia Quest, but will be in the Rumia Quest Universe. I want the next quest to be centered around someone else simply for a change]

>"Hang on, aren't Incidents mostly a Youkai-caused thing? Then that would mean she's been a Youkai for a lot longer, and never realized it! Because only a Youkai, or Goddess, or something like that would do something that crazy."

> "Yeah. Makes me wonder if we'll ever see Remi... oh wait. Nevermind. That's a horrible idea. If she were to take someone under her wing, she'd just make them a vampire herself." Sanae says.

> "No, Reimu specifically said she had caused trouble before and was a human, and Rikako said she was human too." Sanae replied. "The transformation was certainly recent."

> "Also, she was certainly a human when she came to this shrine under a fake name for information about tyhe date of the Kappatech fair." Kanako said. "I was not aware she would cause this much trouble just from knowing a date from me... nor that she would use a fake name for something that trivial when she's been in hiding for years, and we've not been here long enough to have known of her past deeds."

[Hanzo K.]

>"Well, what if whoever it was, was already one to begin with? Besides, I kinda-sorta remember hearing something about her not bein' able to make more. Something about not having a very big appetite or something. I think she just needs to try to eat a little more each day!"

> "I think Remillia dosen't make more because she chooses not to. She just dosen't kill her victims because of her appitite. If she had a bigger appitite, her feasts would be fatal. Remillia unfortunetly is the one exception to the youkai that eat humans, but Remillia literally does not have a choice, she has to feast on human blood, and she tends to feed from Sakuya when possible anyway nowadays. According to Marisa, anyway." Sanae says.

> "Remember that Kanako isn't a youkai either. She's technically been the cause of four incidents. Five if you count telling Rika the date." Suwako said, earning a slap over her head from Kanako.

[Hanzo K.]

>"Ah. I get it! So basically, anyone not human likes causing incidents sometimes!"

>"I guess I wouldn't really cause a pretty harmful one, huh? Probably just something like randomly plonking out blackouts so people bump into trees or something."

> "Most of those incidents were before the spellcard rules were in effect. Even then, the Scarlet Mist Incident was potentially fatal, the mist would kill humans if it had kept lingering. And, of course, if Utusho hadn't been stopped from being drunk on her newfound power, she would have probobly melted Gensokyo." Sanae said.
