>Your left hand has another kunai in it, and you wouldn't be quite able to reach her with it from your current position, either; not only does she have a longer weapon than you, but she also has longer arms. However, there's enough room to shift your left side forward a bit, which could give you enough leverage to reach her unless she immediately pulled back.
>One is indeed on the grip of her sword. The other is not doing much in particular, but is held close near the front of her body in a vaguely defensive position.

I've got one last idea that might have a chance.

>Can we swing our left arm fast enough to slash the arm of the tengu we're bladelocked with, and get it back in a defensive position, before the second tengu can slash us?

>You would need to shift your left side forward a little, and the window of opportunity would be very tight. But it might be possible.

If you don't mind, Kilga. I know you don't like people cutting in on your ideas, but this I think might give us the best chance of getting her off us. Best case, we cut her, she misses us, and we can deal with the second pirate more easily. Worst case, we cut each other and we just have to hope she gets the worst of it.

>Would throwing a knee into the tengu in front of us's gut throw off our aim when slashing at her?

I have no ideas at this point. Apparently my imagination of what is going on was further off than I thought possible. Do whatever you want.

>You don't know how much it would throw of this individual's aim, though you can't imagine it would help it any. You're also slightly out of range for it at the moment, but could try shifting closer in the process.

>With all due haste, shift our left side forward slightly.
>Slash our left kunai towards the arms of the tengu crossing swords with us. Either we cut her, badly, or she backs off in defense. Or, we cut each other, and hope we get the better of the exchange.
>Whatever the outcome, try and back up a step or two and bring at least one of our kunai into defensive position, to deal with the second tengu.

>You quickly shift your left side forward as the lead tengu's sword crests the tip of your right kunai. Then you slash at her arm with your left! You see her eyes tracking your movement and she pulls her arm and then her body away before you can make contact, but this also stops her own attack short. However, you have no time to follow up on this; even as your weapon is cutting through the air her arm just occupied, you hear the sound of a fiercer cleave to your left and see its shadow upon you. You twist your body with as much haste as you can manage, the wounds on your back and shoulder stinging sharply as you do. You ignore the pain. Ducking your head low to keep beneath the onrush of her blade, you desperately bring your other kunai up to intercept it. Before either of you can even make contact, you hear a sharp whistling sound from your right. Then your arm shudders as the tengu's sword slams hard against it. Your parry is positioned awkwardly, with your right weapon guarding your left side in a half-crouch; you can feel your block slipping aside with the force of the strike. At the other end of the hall, you hear Chisato curse again. This one sounds borne as much of pain as anger.

Well, we've gone from bad to worse. This is going very well, indeed.

>Given our current position and awkwardness, which directions, if any, can we move in, in order to evade what is most likely yet another wind blast from the first tengu?

>Given our current position and awkwardness, which directions, if any, can we move in, in order to evade what is most likely yet another wind blast from the first tengu?

>The wall is pretty close to your left and the shot is incoming from approximately your right. You could have some room backwards, or even forward-right if you can work your way around the tengu in front of you. The awkwardness of your position will interfere somewhat with nearly anything you do, and you may need to take care to avoid leaving yourself open to another frontal attack.

>Is our position awkward enough to prevent us from dodging and/or rolling backwards?

>While the actual maneuvering would likely be somewhat easier, the tengu you're currently blocking would have an easier time following your release of the parry with another direct attack.

>Dodge backwards to get away from the wind blast, while keeping both kunai ready to deal with the inevitable attack from the second tengu.
>If the opportunity presents itself, slash at the second tengu with our free kunai while her sword is tied up in our other blade.

>You try quickly shift backwards, despite the awkward downward pressure the tengu's attack is applying against you. She follows you as you start to disengage, pressing even harder against your weapon and limiting your ability to right your posture. You shift another step backwards as the blade of wind whips through the space between you. The edge of it clips your left knee and you falter a moment, gritting your teeth against the sharp pain. The moment your leg wobbles, the tengu pulls her weapon back and launches another fierce strike at your shoulder. You raise your other kunai and narrowly catch the edge of her blade, forcing it aside, but the contact is brief and her sword quickly slides free again. Then she abruptly drops her height and levels a horizontal slash against your midsection as you hear another wind blade being fired at you from behind and to your right, followed by heavier movement through air towards your rear.

>"Get back here, you fuckin' crow!" you hear Chisato yell. "I'm not done with you!"
>"Why don't you come on up and join me?" her adversary replies. While her words are cocksure and light, a fiery undercurrent smolders beneath them; you aren't entirely sure if she's angry, or actually enjoying herself. The guttural noise this draws from the red-haired sailor makes it clear which of the two applies to her, at least.

>Not quickly enough for it to be useful at such a close distance, at any rate.
>From your right to your left.
>The blade only clipped you slightly, and you suspect the damage is superficial; it's certainly more slight than the other injuries you've sustained thus far, though it still stings keenly at the moment. You don't expect it to significantly impede the use of your leg, though you're certainly going to feel it when you move.

>You don't really know much about how strong they are, but their wings have a relatively small vertical span compared to the tengu's own height and presumably a fair bit of that is just feathers. You expect you could simply duck under them unless she crouched right into your path.
