>Maybe lying down for a while wouldn't be an entirely bad idea...
>Make our way back downstairs. Carefully.

>You decide that you've probably had enough of this, and start to carefully make your way back downstairs. At least you've become sufficiently accustomed to the ship's movement that this is easier than when you arrived topside.
>Neu looks at you with a slight frown as you pass by.
>"I'm sorry that your first night out of the city has ended up being such a rocky one," she says.

>Heh. First time in this kind of a storm, and we come up on deck and face it like the rest of em. Say we've acquitted ourselves quite well.
>But a mouse knows when enough's enough. Let's get back to our room.
>"Think I'll, uh... See what it looks like from my room now, though."

>Indeed, you think you made a pretty damn decent showing for yourself.
>...even if you would wish it were over now.
>"The storm woke you up, didn't it?" Neu asks in a sympathetic tone.

>Well, between the storm and the bargain basement bed, that doesn't sound a terrible idea.
>Did Minoriko mention how that medicine she gave us might interract with others, as we obviously took our nightly dose before we went to bed.
>"Aren't you needed up here, still?"

>No, you suppose it doesn't.
>She made no mention of it. You hope that means it isn't something you need to worry about....
>"Until we're through the storm, yes, but I wouldn't need to go anywhere. Just bring me a mug of water or something else you care to drink."

>Head for the mess hall.

>Neu nods and turns her gaze back to the storm.
>You head back across the rest of the deck and downstairs again. Fortunately, the ship stays mostly upright on your way back down, avoiding the possibility of flying head over heels to the lower floor. Your progress down the hallway is slow, but without too many bumps and bruises and you make it to the mess hall without serious incident. It appears to currently be empty.

>Fill our canteen, and acquire a mug, then fill said mug with water.

>Miyumiyu must have had sense enough to hunker down somewhere.
>Fill our canteen, and acquire a mug, then fill said mug with water.

>Frankly, you wouldn't blame her, though it looks like someone's been through here at some point and secured many of the loose objects; the rack of large metal utensils at the back seems to have been taken down, for example, though you can still hear a persistent rattling of what you assume is cutlery in the drawers. Actually, you can hear rattling from several places, now that you're paying attention, punctuated by the occasional dull thud. Nothing sounds particularly like it's sustaining real damage, at least.
>You quickly locate a very large and firmly-secured jug of water and fill your canteen from it, then acquire a mug from the decidedly-disorganized cupboards and fill that as well. You elect for one with a lid, as you suspect this may be the only reasonable way to ensure its contents remain inside the mug on the way back up. Even filling it takes a surprising amount of finesse with the ship being buffeted about as it is, but you manage to avoid spilling more than a small amount onto the floor.

>Watch for flying cutlery, in the event of a massive shift.

>Watch for flying cutlery, in the event of a massive shift.

>You imagine not.
>If she ever did, she never bothered to share that story.
>You make your way out of the galley and back upstairs.
>Things are secured well enough that you think if the ship hit an eddy strong enough to send cutlery flying, flying cutlery would be the least of your problems.

>After a couple false starts and a small pause to catch your balance following a particularly fierce lurch, you make it back to Neu. Both you and your beverage are still in one piece.
>Neu nods and gestures to the mug. "If you could just hand me that for a moment?"

>Do so.

>You hand Neu the mug and she accepts it with another nod, then removes the lid and holds it below one of her wings. She flutters it a few times and you notice a fine powder scatter from that corner of her wing and rain into your drink. Then she puts the lid back on and gives it a shake.
>"I hope you don't find that off-putting," she says with an almost apologetic frown. "It's perfectly harmless, I promise you, but it will put you to sleep if you drink it."

>"I've gotten used to it," she replies simply.
>You take a sniff of your drink. It still smell mostly of water, but also of something rather hard to describe, like honey mixed with a faintly musky ochre. It is... different, but not entirely unpleasant.
