Satori Quest - Day in the Life

>"If you wanted to study my spellcards, you could have just asked. If you feel like taking that approach in the future, you know where to find me. But right now, I would like to get my sister home, so please excuse me."

>Alice shoots a glance at Koishi, before shooting one of pure fury at Marisa, "What the hell did you do, Marisa?!" she demands. Marisa looks like she would rather be back underground than here.
" I'm tellin' yas, she got in the way o' one o' the spellcards and it all wen' awry!! Then I heard kitty over here bangin' on my door so I quickly tied 'nd stashed 'er in a cupboard!! Then you turned up and knocked the others out so I had to get them outta the way too, da-ze!!" Marisa stutters. Suddenly you hear a thought from Orin: 'I want to murder those two. Throw them into Hell's core whilst their still alive!!' she thinks with a face of pure animosity to match.

>"No, Orin.  Not this time."
>Look at the pair.
>"But if they try such a thing again, you can have your way with them. Come, let us return home."

>Orin sighs.
>Alice and Marisa stare at you. Alice gives a small scowl, before walking to the door and tilting her head in it's direction, an obvious sign.
>Orin gives a small cat-like grin at Marisa before walking with you out of their house. But, as you leave, you bump into someone. Someone dressed in red and white. She doesn't even notice you.
 "Marisa, I came as soon as Yukari told me! Is it true that the underground people are having a siege on your house?" she shouts, her eyes then trail down to you, Orin and Koishi. "Or.. maybe it was the other way around." she points to Koishi, "Marisa, what did you do now?"

[Hanzo K.]

>"She came down to the underground in an effort to steal some of the spellcards I had, as well as some of Orin's, Koishi's, and possibly Okuu's."
>Sigh. This is gonna be a long day.
>"However, when she used one, it backfired and knocked out Koishi, as well as destroying the other stolen spellcards. She claimed at first that she was attempting to return them to their 'Rightful Owners'. But you of all people should know how my Recollection spellcards operate. Later, when Orin and myself had arrived here in pursuit of Koishi, who I had sent after Marisa when she did manage to steal some, we found out what was going on, and we ended up getting knocked out. After we came to, things eventually got to the current time, when you arrived."
>Turn to Marisa.
>"A word of caution, miss Kirisame. I suggest you stay out of the underground for a long time. The Oni do not forget, and neither do I. Need I remind you that thieves and liars are among the few things they greatly hate?"
>Turn to Alice.
>"And as for you, miss Margatroid. It doesn't reflect well on you to have sent a thief to do an honest person's work. If you truly wanted to study spellcards, you should have just sent me a letter requesting as such. I'm quite certain that it would have gone much better than this debacle had you done as such. So for future reference, please send a letter instead of using this...thief as a means of doing so."
>Give Marisa a look of utter disgust as we say thief, the sort we usually only reserve for truly disgusting things, then drop it before turning to Reimu.
>"Well, since things have already been resolved, Orin, Koishi, and myself, shall be returning to the underground. There's quite a lot I'll have to take care of now, thanks to all this."
>Be sure to get cursory glances at their thoughts as we say all this. nothing too noticeable though, just a few snatches to see what their mental reactions are.

>Reimu just sighs knowingly, "Sounds like Marisa, sorry about her."
>Siiiigh.. It probably will..
>Reimu looks from you to Marisa in shock. Obviously a tale of this magnitude has not been told to her before.
>Marisa looks to her feet awkwardly.
>"Yeah but.. Master spark solves everything..." she murmurs uncertainly.
>Alice scoffs, "Go to Patchouli if it bothers you. She asked us to find a way of studying your spellcards, we didn't think ot would go this way. Of course it was Marisa's idea to STEAL them.."
>Marisa takes this oppotunity to hide behind Alice, who sidesteps out of the way.
> Alice is angry with Marisa, who is quite scared of everyone right about now.
>Reimu rests her hand on Koishi's forehead, looking genuinely concerned. "If you want, I could get Eirin to pay a visit to check up on her.. She looks quite ill.." as she speaks, you look and notice how pale Koishi actually is..

[Hanzo K.]

>"I think it might be best if she's taken directly to her in that case. Could I ask you to help me with that, Reimu?"
>Look over at Marisa.
>"A word of wisdom, miss Kirisame. 'Look before you leap'. Sometimes the best path to something isn't always a straight line."
>This is gonna be a looooong day.
>Look over at Orin.
>"It looks like we won't be returning home just yet it seems. I need you to get a message to miss Kurodani quite quickly. Have her spread the word to the rest that the problem's resolved. In the meantime, Reimu and myself will be getting Koishi some medical attention. Can you do that for me?"

[Nekomata-chan]

>Reimu gives a bow, "I can indeed, Miss Komeiji."
>Marisa yelps.
>"But the closest distance 'tween two points is a strai' line, da-ze!!"
>You sigh at the fact that it isn't even the afternoon yet..
>Orin seems to be struggling with Koushi, awkwardly balancing her.
>"Will do, Satori-sama!" Orin shouts. Reimu holds her arms out and takes Koishi off Orin's hands. Orin then takes off back to the underground.
"Be warned, Komeiji, the bamboo forest is not entirely civilised. Stay close and you'll be fine. Koishi is in safe hands with me." Reimu assures you, gesturing for you to follow as she takes off into the air.

[Hanzo K.]

>Depart with Reimu.
>"The underground is a dangerous place as well, remember?"

[Nekomata-chan]

>Reimu keeps pace with you, gently flying to not drop Koishi.
>"True, you just don't seem the steeled type to me. No offense meant, but you do look rather vulnerable. Probably why Marisa thought she'd get away with theft from you."

>"I'm just not one for fighting. I much prefer to use my head to resolve things, as opposed to how miss Kirisame approaches things
>Let's keep going.
>"Hopefully she's learned her lesson this time, and won't try any funny business. Though I wonder what Spellcard she used, I forgot to find out. Since she was unharmed, and mostly sound, mentally speaking. It likely could have been one of Orin's."
>Look over at Koishi.
>"...Though I don't recall Orin ever having any Spellcard that could have an effect like that. I suppose that after we get to the doctor, I should check on that person they mentioned. She seems to be the cause behind today's mess."
>Smirk just a bit.
>"I still haven't given her a piece of my mind yet either."

[Nekomata-chan]

>"I guess you are right. Marisa always says 'If at first you don't succeed, Master Spark the crap out of it.." Reimu sighs.
>You both pick up your pace as you see the bamboo forest getting closer.
>Reimu seems deep in thought for a while. "Considering the damage, I'd say it was one of.. Utsuho's.. is that her name..?"
>Koishi's hand is hanging limply, and you have only just noticed that one of her sleeves and the right-hand side of her skirt has a tear in it. In better light she looks.. worse.
>Reimu nods as she pulls to a halt right above the bamboo forest, her eyes darting. "Who, Patchy? She'd never be an evil mastermind, she's too ill. If she had to do it alone, she'd have sent you letters and probably Koakuma to escort you to her. Patchy's very docile."
>Reimu finds a clearing and she points at it with her foot before slowly descending.
>"Just don't be a bother. If you attack, she's strong and if you injure her too badly you shall have Sakuya and possibly even Remilia to answer to. That doesn't end well, you know."

[Hanzo K.]

>"Well, I'll fight if she chooses to attack. It's only sensible to defend yourself when you're attacked."
>Head for the clearing.
>"At any rate though, it could have been one of Okuu's cards too. Probably one of the lower-caliber ones. If it was even just one of her mid-level ones, that area probably wouldn't even be there anymore."
>Follow Reimu when she starts walking.
>"My plan is to just give her a piece of my mind...And maybe see what's on hers if the situation calls for it. I'd really like to know what she was thinking, sending miss Kirisame and miss Margatroid to 'study' the spellcards that Orin, Okuu, and myself possess."
>Sigh once more.
>"This is going to be a long day. I did not plan for anything like this when I woke up today.."

[Nekomata-chan]

>Reimu shrugs, "That is true. Patchouli won't attack you of her own accord, though. I was just preparing you for every single possibility, I'd hate for you to be caught out, especially in the current situation.
>In the clearing, there is a little building with a small unreadable sign in front of it. You and Reimu touch down on the ground, and you notice a small girl with a pink dress, short brown hair and thick white bunny ears. She disappears indoors before you take another step.
>You walk alongside Reimu, the both of you taking odd glances at Koishi to check if she is fine, which she is.
>Reimu sighs, "Patchy probably didn't mean for Marisa to steal them. Alice probably wouldn't have sent her to do such a thing. Alice is definitely a strategic girl, not a thief. More or less likely she asked Marisa to get them by any means she saw fit, and Marisa just misunderstood as 'stealing'. Marisa is really naive sometimes, and she can misunderstand. I'm really sorry about her, I hope she hasn't caused too much..." Reimu's eyes wander to Koishi, "N-never mind.."
>Reimu smiles soothingly at you.
>"Nobody does. I feel for you, I really do. If it makes you feel any better, I can give Marisa a kicking on your behalf. It wouldn't be the first time, I just have to plan for lasers. I wonder why she didn't Master Spark you when she 'visited', you know..."

[Hanzo K.]

>"Well, at the very least, if a fight does occur, I can add more spellcards to my list of Recollection-types to replace the destroyed ones."
>head in with Reimu.
>"Well, judging by how much fear she had, she probably won't be doing anything like this again anyways...Well, provided she doesn't forget."
>"Anyways, I can only assume the reason why was because she had snuck in while I was sleeping, and I happened to catch her off guard due to her noise waking me up. But then again, I was also reading her mind and giving her the third degree quite a bit back then, so it's possible that she just forgot to in her haste to stop having her mind read."
>Smirk.
>"She used some rather colorful language back then you know. But after seeing how she ended up, that just shows me that she's still just a child, wanting to prove herself. I do wonder who she wants the approval from though. Perhaps I should visit the surface more often, so I can help push her in the right direction."
>chuckle a bit.
>"It's good to have all that youthful energy, but it's not so good if the outlet for it's release is a poor one."

>Reimu laughs, "That would work in your favour more than anything. If you want, I can help you replace them. By the way, this building here is Eientei."
>Reimu shuffles Koishi in her arms for a comfier hold as you both enter.
>As you enter, you are confused by how the place looks bigger on the inside then the outside. Reimu sighs and heads in a given direction with you. She knows where she's going.
>"Marisa is a bit of a loose cannon, you know. She is incapable of doing anything lightly. Take speaking, I'm sure you've heard her." Reimu giggles quietly.
>You smirk. Reimu smirks along with you, knowing what you mean.
>"Again, she cannot take anything lightly. She's very abrupt it's almost criminal. Then again.. a lot of what she does can be considered criminal. And I wouldn't waste your time, she's such a slow learner you may as well buy that closet in her house."
>As you chuckle, you hear Reimu call through one of the doors in the corridor. "Eirin? Eirin Yagoko~ro?! I hope you aren't busy!!"
>Reimu smiles. "Like I said. Marisa is Marisa.". She slides open the door, just as a woman seemed to also. She was in a black and red nurses outfit with a nurses cap, and long silver hair in a braid.
 "What is it?" she asks in a polite but irritated manner.
 "What do you think, Eirin?" Reimu raises her eyebrows and her arms, holding Koishi up to 'Eirin'.
 "Ah.. this is.. Koishi Komeiji, yes?" Eirin confirms, taking your unconscious sister into her arms. "You must be Satori, then?" she directs at you. Without waiting for an answer, she walks inside the room and rests Koishi on the table under a small lamp. "What happened? I want every detail that is possible for you to produce, therefore I can give you an accurate diagnosis and prescription. Just.. she looks terrible.. so pale and.. from what I can tell she's been out for a while. Miss Komeiji is showing signs of.. severe mental distress and this has caused her mind to temporarily shut down to recover itself. This kind of trauma is only sustained from a terrible event. She probably will be mentally scarred with nightmares for at least a few months. That's only after she wakes up after a few hours or maybe a day.." Eirin rubs the bridge of her nose, taking a deep breath, "Which can only mean one thing. Either she was confined for a prolonged period and sustained heavy injuries, or someone extremely close to her died and she was forced to watch or undergo said procedure." She sighs. She takes a quick glance at you, then to Reimu, then back at you. "Hopefully that made sense?"

[Hanzo K.]

>"....Well, that solves one thing. It wasn't one of Okuu's cards miss Kirisame tried to use then. It was likely one of mine, or one of Koishi's. That's the only thing I can think of that could cause such an effect. Given how most of our spellcards revolve around mental things."
>Fill her in on every that's happened. Marisa breaking in, her stealing some spellcards, and then the summary backfire of said spellcards when Marisa tried to use them, everything.

[Nekomata-chan]

>Eirin ducks her head a little. "I'm afraid so.." she unfolds a blanket from the corner of the room, covering Koishi from the shoulders down.
>She listens intently, nodding whilst checking Koishi's vitals. After a while, she rests a hand on your shoulder. "Satori, there is no permanent damage, internally or otherwise, on your sister. Effects like these don't come from spellcards alone, though.. maybe there was something that you missed when you and your friend Orin were chasing them down. It may be something you wish to chase up. You may stay here until she wakes up but, mind you, I cannot give you a definite time. You may want to go about your duties and I will send Udongein to get you when she does wake up. I just hope that she is awake before too long so we can ask her what she remembers, if there is anything. Reimu looks to you for your final decision.
 "I can go get info from Marisa while you wait here, if you want me to." she offers, shrugging at her lack of ideas.

[Hanzo K.]

>Nod. "Alright, I'll leave that to you Reimu. Once that's been handled, I'll go follow up on the other things."
>Let's wait until Reimu gets back from doing that then.

[Nekomata-chan]

>Reimu gives a small salute before flying (yes, flying, it's faster) out of Eientei.
>Reimu has been about half an hour, and Eirin seems to still be busy. Before long, the shrine maiden bursts through the door, looking defeated. "She. Remembers. Absolutely nothing. I think that spellcard caused her mental trauma too, her memory is crap. She even forgot the name of Alice's doll, Shanghai!! Jeez, even a dumb ice fairy can remember that... All she told me is that she remembers a lot of screaming. Not her screams, mind, hers aren't 'that high-pitched'." Reimu takes a breath and sinks to the floor, exhausted. "Haaaa... sorry, Satori. Now.. just wait for... Koishi to wake up and... hope she remembers stuff... haaaaaaaa.."

[Hanzo K.]

>"No wonder she was so frightened then, she was probably almost a blank slate. I'd be too if I was in her place in that sort of situation."
>Sigh. So much trouble and strife today. We also seem to be sighing a lot too!
>"Maybe I should look into things deeper. I should visit miss Patchouli to get more information on this. And perhaps give her a piece of my mind on all this as well."

[Nekomata-chan]

>Reimu nods, and so does Eirin. "Show me someone that wouldn't be.." they say in unison, before giving each other a confused look.
>You sigh. Again. I don't control how much you sigh~
>Eirin stops you, "Hold it. I have an idea. Take Koishi with you."
 Reimu raises her eyebrows, "When she's like this?"
 Eirin facepalms. "I forgot I have a drug that can bring anyone from unconsciousness, though I rarely use it because.. either you're alive or dead when you come here, mostly." she reaches onto a shelf and picks up a bottle full of little yellow pills. She lifts Koishi's chin, placing one of the tablets in her mouth and rubbing her throat gently. "It'll take just a minute.
>Before long, Koishi's eyes jolt open and she sits up with a scream. "SATORI! HELP ME!!" Reimu and Eirin both nearly jump out of their skins and into each other's. "Please don't hurt me, Marisa! I haven't done anything to you! Put it down!! I'm sorry!! Keep away from me! No.. no..!! I WANT TO GO HOME!!" she assumes the fetal position, screaming. Eirin shouts over it to you and Reimu.
 "Post-nightmare trance! It'll pass!!" she shouts, hands over her ears. Koishi's screams dissolve into pants for breath as she begins to tremble. As Eirin reaches for her, Koishi winces. She looks in pain.
 "P-please.. let me go home.. I want to go back home to Satori, Orin and Okuu.. please.. I don't care if you want revenge, Marisa, this isn't the way to do it.." Koishi murmurs into her arms, quivering. Reimu looks at Eirin.
 "So.. still think we should take her with us?" the shrine maiden quips.

[Hanzo K.]

>"Koishi, it's okay. Marisa's not here. We're not even at her house. It's okay.."
>Comfort her.
>What did she mean by revenge..? This is getting fishy.

[Nekomata-chan]

>Koishi slowly sits up and takes in her surroundings, "B-but.. I.. what.. uh..." she giggles awkwardly, "S-sorry.."
>She sighs, and her jagged breaths slowly come to a stop.
>Reimu asks the question for you, "What did you mean by 'revenge', Koishi?"
 "Oh, um... when Marisa got home she was really angry at Satori and mostly Orin.. and since I was the closest one she took her anger out on me. She hit me with her broom repeatedly, but I didn't cry because she would've done the same to Satori or Orin had they been there.. and then she forced me to use one of your spellcards, Satori, to see what would happen.. it really hurt.. and then she quickly tied me up and shut me in the cupboard as well as giving me a hit around the head with her mini-hakkero to shut me up..." she is almost close to tears, "A-at least S-Satori or O-Orin didn't get h-hurt!!" tears roll down her cheeks. Then she looks around, "Where's Orin!? She's not hurt, is she, tell me she's okay!!"

[Hanzo K.]

>"Orin's fine, I sent her back home to let the people there know that things were mostly resolved. But regardless, Marisa should have known better."
>"..Wait, one of my spellcards? That idiot, she should know that we have completely different abilities. But that doesn't matter right now, because you're okay."
>Hug Koishi.

>Koishi sighs in relief, "Good.. I tried to tell Marisa revenge was useless but she just went demonic.."
>She seems to be deep in thought.. "It was.. it was... aah, I can't remember!!"
>Koishi hugs you hard, a smile finally on her face, "So... do we go home or is there stuff you still have to do? Something tells me there is~" she asks innocently.

>"It seems there's more to Marisa's theft than we first thought. I intend to look into this."

>Reimu nods, finally coming into the conversation. "I'll look into this with you. Marisa's never revealed such a grotesque dark side before. I hope this isn't some dark magic corrupting her. Marisa has only been to Pa-...-tchouli knows dark magic! It would explain how Alice seems off too.. we all visited Patchy a few days ago, but I got caught up talking to Yukari, but when Marisa and Alice came out, they weren't the same. Satori, if we go there.. we will probably have to deal with Patchy's dark side too. She could be possessed by those creepy grimoire books, you know the tales! Alice used a grimoire and was stupidly powerful! Patchouli is stronger than Alice a-" Reimu is halted by Eirin's hand over her mouth.
"Basically, demon party at the devil mansion. You three are in for a treat. Think what just happened was bad? Only Reimu has fought Patchouli directly before, and not in this situation. None of you know what you are up against." Eirin looks at all three of you in turn.
 "Shouldn't there be dramatic music over this?!" Koishi asks randomly. Eirin and Reimu fight not to dissolve in giggles. "What? I'm genuinely curious! This day needs dramatic music!!"
>Koishi gets up, but she looks a little unsteady, "I'm fine, it's been awhile since I stood up. I don't want to miss this!"

>"I'm not much of a fighter, but I can easily just use their own spellcards against them, And worst comes to worst, I can use their fears."
>Smirk.
>"Everyone has something they fear most, it just needs to be found."
