Sorry to ruin your dreams but the recent WR already maxes out the score multiplier before the Utsuho battle  :V

He may mean the WRs for characters other than those that max out the multiplier before Utsuho. However, my opinion is that technique looks a bit too hard to pull off consistently to be feasible. One life is worth 40 million points in SA, and losing one unnecessarily is a pretty big deal.

Ha! My dreams remain unruined, as I was talking about the ReimuC WR in the previous post.  :V

Marisa frickin' Kirisame. Stars have to be my most hated bullet.
When I first fought her I was surprised by how many nonspells she had. Patchouli only has two, the Prismrivers have one double-phased nonspell and a regular one (so 2 or 3 nonspells, take your pick) but Marisa has one between every card except her Spark and her Earth Light Ray/Shoot the Moon spells. Reimu is a lot better and more fun to fight in my opinion, also I prefer her theme to Marisa's, and she doesn't wall you as often as the darn witch. Marisa has been the obstacle keeping me from 1ccing Hard with Reimu solo and unlocking her Last Word. I just can't capture anything she has in an actual run, even though I do fine in Spell Practice.

Stages 4 and especially 5 of UFO.  After the midbosses, there's points and bullets and enemies and UFOs and everything everywhere.

And Shiki get's my vote for boss.  Unless PoFV counts as a stage, in which case it's tied with the above.  Those black hole thingies that just spawn out more hotdogs.  And Lily always picks the worst possible time to show up, which is anytime she shows up after a minute into the fight.  And she'll show up again and again.

The fight I feel is the most unfuckingfair is Touhou 8 Stage 4. Yes, you heard me right. I think both Marisa AND Reimu are pains in the ass to fight. On normal, I can barely dodge fucking ANY of their damn cards. They're just BARELY worthy being their own final boss fight, let alone a Stage 4 boss!

AND IT'S NOT BECAUSE THEY FUCKING SHIFT DEPENDING ON WHATEVER. I'VE PLAYED LLS. I CAN BEAT BOTH OF THEIR ASSES FINE IN LLS.

If you want a fight that's more recent, try every Hard Mode fight on UFO. Nazrin in particular because Pendulums and Kogasa because rain spellcard (Yes, that's my only problem with her), Ichirin because fists and dense bullet formations. Haven't seen anything past stage 3 because Ichirin kills me every damn time.

In terms of stages, UFO extra is the only one I've stricken off my "to clear" list without actually having cleared it. The stage protion is just that stupidly annoying.
(...speaking of which, I really should get back to working on TD extra.)

What is the most exciting experience you've had playing Touhou? i am torn between my clear of UFO extra and my clear of MS normal: both were big, flashy, endorphin-generating, rollicking rides for me from start to finish. Soooooooooo much fun that I still remember them years later.

I'd say it was when I beat EoSD Extra. It was my first Extra stage beaten and my God it was difficult. It took me about 5 months and I still can't beat it consistantly.

It was about equal for my perfect of Remilia and my PoDD lunatic 1cc. Both were long, arduous, high-stress goals that I worked incessantly at, and the moment I realized I had done them, I held my mouth in shock as I made sounds like a disney princess in labor. It was magical.

Well, except maybe my first no focus clear of PCB normal-it was a roller coaster ride, but I managed with nothing left.

But yeah, perfect MoF extra stage, because I'd worked so hard, gotten to the hard part only 12 of 150 tries, choked on the final spell once, and then finally triumphed (despite messing up Red Frog- I improvised a path through a wall )

I second this! I can also remember my first 1CC (EoSD normal) but that excitement is so common for all touhou players. I've beaten Flandre only once but never forget that shakes when i entered Q.E.D. with 0/0 and captured it :*

Probably my first EoSD 1cc Normal (to unlock extra) with MarisaA. Excellent playing up until stage 6, then I quickly lose all of my six lives due to stupid mistakes and slow bombing. Eventually I'm facing Red Magic with no lives or bombs, and I manage to pull off my first capture.

Seeing Nue's final attack for the first time with 1 power, no lives and one bomb and making it through successfully would have been better if I could capture it instead of reflex bombing on the easiest wave. I suppose making it through with 1 power is an accomplishment itself, but still.

I only recently started with extra bosses(Flan, Ran and Mokou), so no extra clear yet. But the most exciting experience until now was my first clear of PCB , because Yuyukos fight, especially the end of her Last Spell, is just perfect when all the bullets on screen dissolve into cherry points.
My first Normal clear(EoSD)is also up there, I was thinking "FINALLY!" as I survived with 0/0 left. Oh, and my first UFO 1cc, because Byakuren

There are too many of those to properly point out one specific. I always get quite an adrenaline rush when I'm close to doing something and a short while after having done things. Its the kind of thing that really makes playing shmups harder. When you are close to doing something like a perfect Byakuren you are more likely to screw up because, you just perfected everything and the hardest thing still remains. Same thing with other bosses even if you have done the bosses before its still an exilerating thing to perfect a hard boss like Shou and Aya. The good thing about this kind of rush is that you don't even get particularly angry with your failures like failing a no-bombs attempt or failing a perfect at the final card.

If I'm to pick one that's final then it must be back when I got my timeout of VoWG. It was like, 30 seconds left on the timer. Haven't died yet. Can do this! Then right at the last 10 seconds she throws a nasty wave at me and I make one excellently timed dash through two amulet hitboxes. Pulling off that move is actually something I'm fairly consistent with but its still exhilarating to do.

Definately 1ccing SA on Lunatic at 90fps. Nothing has taken more effort than that out of anything I've done. When Utsuho exploded and the bullets disappeared... I just drew away from the screen and started whispering "fuck" repeatedly.

When I got to Shou with three lives.  When I got past her second nonspell without dieing, I started thinking I could pull this off.  And I did.  Her Most Valuable Vajra got me twice and Demon of Purification got me once.  I lasered her in the face after that until the time ran out.  Didn't make it to Byakuren, but that's the farthest I've ever gotten.

My 1CC of Touhou 07 Hard Difficulty on my very first attempt - that moment in my half-asleep boredom (I just wanted the game to end already so I could see if I unlocked Phantasm) when I realized that I actually had a solid chance of clearing Hard on my first try. Wonderful 0/0 clear.

First MoF 1cc left the best feeling, although the more recent first SA lunatic 1cc had a more "I just climbed a mountain and punched God in the face" feeling about it. Really strange.

1cc'ing PCB for the first time. That sheer tension when you get to Youmu and Yuyuko, the mix of panic and determination when you confront their spells, the adrenaline as the seconds tick away on Resurrection Butterfly... I've only cleared the game on Easy, but somehow it felt more satisfying than my MoF Normal 1cc.

Which Touhou Stage and Boss are the most unfair?

STAGE: UFO Extra.  It seems to just come down to a huge memorization game on where those multi-color-spamming fairies appear before and after Ex-Kogasa.  If you don't kill them immediately, it becomes a mess.  This is true of all Extra stages to some degree, but it's especially apparently in UFO for me.

BOSS: PoFV Shikieiki Yamaxanadu.  Have you watched her dodge on Lunatic?  Seriously!?


What is your most exciting Touhou experience?

I have a tie here.  My UFO clear make me nearly scream in satisfaction when those rings of amulets disappeared on Flying Fantastica.  But I think my first PCB Extra clear might just barely beat that out.  I made it to Izuna Gongen with 1 Life left and died on the 3rd tier of bullets (the Red Bubbles).  It was a silly death.  And then.... I found the safespot.  It was both exhilarating and depressing to know that nothing could kill me, but that it happened on a run where I could no longer capture the spell.

I'm saying that I don't approve of the way the stage relies too heavily on pixel perfection and memorization with no real room for improvization. And that is unfortunately a kind of crutch that SA likes to use a bit too much rather than designing an interesting kind of challenge.

Satori of my life man... At least the non-clone phases, and particularly the second nonspell.  Clipdeaths because you're sitting a pixel off position in either direction is a huge pissoff.

Ahem... Most unfair boss is a tough one, since most actually are pretty fair.  The worst I can think of is Yuka due to her final phase (Stage 5 or 6, take your pick).  They're pretty nutters on max rank, and I'm not even sure if they'd be possible on low rank due to walls.  Especially the Stage 6 final.

Stages are even harder for me to pick.  Does PoDD final count?  If not, I guess EoSD 4 because of the pre-Koakuma books, or PCB 6 because of the pre-Youmu shitstorm.

Oh god, don't remind me of Yuka's final phase. >_< I think it is impossible on lower ranks. I savestate scummed it for 45 minutes straight, and never managed to beat it. Then I moved back and reached it on max rank. Cue me capturing it in five. ;>_>
