Touhou Accomplishments - Unlucky 13th?

Just did random run and got SA Hard 1cc with Reimu A
Compared to lunatic, everything is so nice and slow... wow.
However, unexpected multiple derp deaths (like dying to Orin midboss opener) in Stage 5 led me to enter stage 6 with only 1 life,
but that doesn't matter cuz I still cleared.

My first SA hard 1cc had only 2/5 of a life going into Stage 6-and it was a blind run of the stage  :V
I'm dreading SA lunatic a lot more now...maybe I should switch my main shot type to ReimuC so I can bomb everything.

I am now strangely consistent at Asteroid Belt, and also Double Spark, and I'm consistent at Event Horizon again.  Figures I failed Stardust Typhoon (I usually capture it) and also Shoot the Moon of all things, then almost captured Final Master Spark too that run.  Perfect lunatic Stage 4B possible for me?  Probably not because I suck at Marisa's nonspells, but maybe I should go for it...

TACTICAL WALL OF TEXT INBOUND, IT'S OVER

Well, I guess I can list a few things here that I'm not going to bother backing up with replays.
Not like they're really accomplishments, lol. I'm not even going to list the score because I don't remember and they're probably bad anyway.

• Touhou 13 Normal Difficulty 1CC, 1ST attempt, BLIND. While I was in class - answering math questions from my teacher AT THE SAME TIME. Later, I was still playing while simultaneously listening to a Career Services Representative for my school. This shows not how skilled I am (which I'm not), but how easy the game is, especially in comparison with others in the series. Normally, I need all of my focus on the game, but not in this case.
• Touhou 11 Normal Difficulty 1CC (5th attempt IIRC, this is the Normal Difficulty 1CC that I've found the most challenging)
• Touhou 10 Normal Difficulty 1CC (2nd attempt, 1st attempt was without VPatch)
• Touhou 08 Normal Difficulty 2-ALL (1st attempt, not blind; but is 2-ALL even an appropriate term? I did immediately start the "second loop" after defeating Eirin.)
• Touhou 06 Normal Difficulty 1CC. There are actually two here: one that I got a few months ago and another about a year ago. The 1CC that I got a year ago was extremely difficult for me at the time; I certainly hadn't developed my bullet-hell gameplay methods, and just relied mostly on my reaction skills. Playing reactively was even more difficult because I wasn't using VPatch. Yet I somehow managed to clear it in 5 days with about 30-40 minutes of gameplay each day. Needless to say, this was extremely exhausting and as a result I dropped danmaku/bullet-hell games for a while (several months). Unfortunately, I didn't save a replay of that first 1CC because I had no English Patch and couldn't understand that the game was asking me if I wanted to save a replay, and I was just trying to get back to the menu. The second, more recent 1CC was obtained in 1 attempt, and I did save a replay for it.
• Touhou 07 Normal Difficulty 1CC (lots of attempts, I don't remember how many, no VPatch, and this was only a short time after I returned to danmaku/bullet-hell games.)
• Touhou 07 Hard Difficulty 1CC. 1st attempt LOL "ARCADE DIFFICULTY" MY ASS Surprisingly, I wasn't even trying to clear it, I was just trying to capture spells so I could unlock the Phantasm Stage. I will probably upload the replay of this onto YouTube anyway, even though it looks really stupid at the end.
• Touhou 07 Extra Stage clear (~20 attempts because, well, no VPatch.)

Congratulations! Touhou 11 is a hard game, without a doubt.
I did manage to get past Stage 4 and Satori on my second attempt at Hard Difficulty; IIRC the game ended somewhere around halfway through Stage 5. I haven't touched the game since, but you just might be what gets me to play the game again (if I can get it to work properly on my new computer, dammit).

Two extra bosses down in a days time. Congratulations with that. That means only Byakuren is left for you. If you could handle Remilia then you ought to be able to handle Byak as well.

I'll pray that you get lucky and take her down quickly. I couldn't wish prolonged exposure to that stage for my worst enemy.

How did you do it? Conventional method where you circle around Flandre, or BS static dodging method, where you dodge through the narrow gaps in the "maze walls"? If you did the conventional way, then major props to you. I certainly wouldn't have the patience to master that. (Watching someone capture it the BS way is quite amusing to watch, though.)

There's a very specific set of movements that will work every time if you go through the bullet walls. If you can remember these (which I haven't been able to on any run so far) and can make precise movements, the BS method might be easier.

As for me, it is easier because I just can't hold my focus or patience to keep spinning around in circles for that long.

Since I 1cced SA easy at 120 FPS, I haven't felt like playing extra.
Until now.  Due to the bug, ReimuA extra was relocked.  So I went to unlock it.  and broke 500 million for SA normal while I was at it.
perfect Stages 1, 2 and 4, derp death to one of Yuugi's nonspells prevented perfect Stage 3 too.
Stage 5 had a death to Orin's last card, embarrassing in how it happened too... BUT 1CC ATTEMPT CAT'S WALK 2 POWER CAPTURE (because bomb Orin's midboss nonspells for graze), and no death Stage 6.  Ended with OVER 9000 graze and (9) lives.

Much easier. Even if you've memorized the "BS" method, doing it normally is still easier. You just move in circles, while the other way requires extreme precision.

With a very liberal interpretation of the word extreme yes. Its not really that bad if you just hold down the 'down' key. In addition, its faster and looks more cool.

Okay, just pulled my very first 1DNB of Byakuren (death was on Purple Omen, who knew). I kinda wish that death did not happen, but...it feels good to know I'm making some progress. Kind of. I really want it to be over, but I'll take what I can get at the moment.

The replay has been watched and really... You die on the only no-tricks-involved-at-all pure dodgem spell card. Her last card for example, even though it's a dodgem, has some minor tricks here and there than you can use to make the card a little easier... But Purple Omen is not aimed at your position in any way, all the waves are offset by random angles and her movement is pretty much non-manipulable in any useful way, since horizantal movement doesn't affect anything and you have no control over her vertical movement. The best possible advice I can give is to watch for open paths between the droplet bullets and try to stay in them, and the glowy orbs sorta kinda but not really repeat a bit in the middle of a wave, so try not to get caught offguard.

...Honestly, all I can say is "get better at reading and dodging the bullets," hopefully via practicing spell cards or attacks where you don't rely on tricks to make them easier to dodge. Sorry for not having any useful advice. Your run looks solid otherwise, but sometimes it was difficult to tell how in control you were since you got unreasonably close to some bullets  (as in would probably die if you were Marisa/Sanae) during her fourth non card as well as her last two spell cards. I can't really tell if you would've made a better dodging decision if you weren't confident in your hitbox size though, so I can't pass any sort of useful judgement.

Alternatively, you can not try to get better at all and just brute force spam the stage until either the RNG gives you some nice pathways between the bullets and you essentially have to dodge nothing or you just luckshit through the card. But you didn't hear this tactic from me, okay?

Dunno. I did just fine clearing lunatic with ReimuA. Maybe I'll try ReimuC later.
The main thing was figuring out how to reliably go through stage 5 without massive bleeding of resources (ReimuA bomb is not as strong as ReimuC, so lots of things can literally eat you alive if you are not familiar with them). Okuu is also hit and miss - she often kills me extremely fast (just die a few times in her first 2 spells and the whole run is kinda doomed, or like me, derp multiple times to Subterranean Sun in one of my failed runs), so either figure out how to reliably do the attacks or simply stall and bomb.
Lots of work was also put into stages 3 and 4 - unless you become good at stage 5 and 6, you can't rly afford to lose more than 2 lives lol.

So I attempted EoSD extra again, feeling like I can get a better clear. My clear had only 1 capture (lol safespotting Laevateinn), while I've captured much harder cards on failed runs (hello Starbow Break, Kagome Kagome, and Four of a Kind).

I stupidly bomb the death fairy, then I go, ah well, run failed, might as well bomb Silent Selene twice just so I won't be able to panicbomb Royal Flare and maybe I'll actually learn it. I proceed to freaking capture Royal Flare, and then to my stunned disbelief, capture Philosopher's Stone immediately afterward. I have never once caught either of those prior to this run. And then I proceed to dodge the books and Cranberry Trap in ways that just had to be seen to be believed.

Fell apart later on and didn't get the clear, but damn was that an epic two minutes or so.

While playing EoSD normal i've managed to capture all cards except Marionette. Princess Undine is hard, but i've gaptured it several times in runs and practice.

I meant the normal Princess Undine, which reminds me I forgot all about Satori's non-ReimuA Recollection cards, gotta capture those too.

My capture of Marionette was one of the most insane things I've done in Touhou. It was in a wonderful run that turned to shit on Stage 5 (FIVE DEATHS), that I only saved a replay of because of a freak Marionette capture. Also, wanted to clear MoF normal on ReimuC for practice mode (to get nice scores and get used to the shot type for an all characters 1cc). The run turns into a 1cc, though barely (mainly due to not bombing much as this wasn't an intended 1cc). I did get a capture of Grey Thaumaturgy and Crossroads of Heaven though

I unlocked the stages for practice a while ago, but only now I managed to actually do it. Was busy 1ccing the other games in Easy(only UFO and TD left), but since I started with EoSD, I wanted to 1cc it first.

I played ReimuA, 1 bomb each to Colorful Rain and Extreme Color Typhoon (I' m beginning to get the hang of it, though)
Stage 4 was good, died only on Rage Trilithon High Level. In stage 5 I died once to every boss spellcard, but managed the nonspells at least.
I somehow got focused through Eternal Meek, normally I tend to try it unfocused. Remilia went... not so good, clipdeath on the opener (these damn bubbles :V),
died on scarlet shoot and red magic, but it's ok because I practiced Remilia not as much as Sakuya and Patchy.

My hands were shaking after the ending, because I couldn't believe my computer decided to not screw it up with a BSoD, like the two times before I got to remilia, with a decent amount of lifes^^
I love that about Touhou, it's so damn exciting if you 1cc a new game or difficulty for the first time .

Finally got the 1cc of SA hard.
Finally I didn't die to Utsuho's last pixel of health.

Strangely enough it wasn't even a good run, especially stage 4 was just bad playing.

- one death to Yuugi (just had to be her last spellcard)
- 2 deaths to stage 4 (+ a lot of bombs trying to get back into the groove)
- one to Satori (... so four more deaths than usual up until this point)

- one to Orin as stage 5 midboss (her opener, not Cat's Steps - captured that one out of spite)
- one to Orin as boss (last spellcard... a lot of bombs were involved in this fight so this was the end of the line, whatever works I guess)
- one to Orin as stage 6 midboss (oh how I love to get hit while the spell is dissolving, own fault to drop my guard I guess)
- Utsuho's second and last non-spell (*sigh*)

Glad I didn't restart the game, was so close to do that after stage 4.

Concerning just 1ccing hard mode, there's only UFO left... erm, I guess I'll go do something else then! Still kinda busy though, I shouldn't even be playing right now - oops.

You probably already know this, but the "bubble" bullets and the "metal fatigue" bullets have different hitboxes than in the rest of the Touhou series.

Now to beat Flan-chan :V

Go for it. Flandre shouldn't be too much of a problem, especially if you know how to abuse some of her attacks (like safe-spotting through Laevateinn and BS static dodging through Maze of Love).
