Meiling's the type that would much rather share a cup of tea with a potential intruder than letting trouble start. Having that poor girl is kicked around so much in canon, and fanon only makes it worse. Think of what she has to deal with. There's her mean, nasty boss, a psychotic supervisor, and Meiling's the only person who cares for Flandre, whose own dear sister considers a despicable abomination. Yet Meiling cares, and Meiling remains magnanimous. She endures through all the hardship forced on her in the most wonderful of ways. She's so mellow that she can't be bothered to be bothered by anything. She puts up with so very much and yet she smiles through it all. What a wonderful girl.
Patchouli? She's a person who does nothing but sit on her duff all day long while collecting dust and soaking up the acrid musk of old books. She doesn't do anything and her personality matches the perpetually sterile and stagnant environment that she's so fond of in place of others. Including you. I've met rocks more endearing. YOU'VE met rocks more endearing. LOTS of them.
I'm voting for a character whom I care for, because I know she would care for me. The inverse is just as true for the librarian.
