I couldn't decide. Yeah, I had absolutely no idea who I should vote for. I actually planned to skip this round, but I wanted to vote for someone. So yeah, I pretty much voted for the sake of voting. I decided which one I should choose by flipping a coin. So, should Lunasa win with a margin of one vote, blame it on one of my 2 cent coins (but it seems unlikely that she even has a chance).

I'm voting for Lunasa. Violinists are cute, especially if they are poltergeists. Goth lolis are cute too, but I prefer them black instead of red.

Yuyuko vs. Sunny Milk

Yuyuko:

Pros: Elegant personality, cheerful looks, Ghost princess, themed around Cherry Blossoms, fine taste in food, butterfly danmaku

Cons: Being the ghost of death may make her unappealing, backstory is somewhat tragic, being a big eater may turn off certain fans.

Sunny Milk:

Pros: Cute Fairy, Cute Fang, cute bossy attitude (based on the fairy trio), mischievous behavior

Cons: Being part of a very minor group of characters, who while have a amusing manga, aren't very well noticed outside (except through Fairy Wars) thus likely to not get much attention.

Advantage: Yuyuko

Let's face it, this is another contest that feels like it's going to be another one-sided senario

We have the ghost princess of the Netherworld, vs. the (supposed) leader of a trio of faires who loves to play pranks on everyone.

Yuyuko is one of those few character that I feel can be very moe in both appearance and character. She a ghost who servers as a princess of the Netherworld and maintains the sprites in that area. What I find most appealing about Yuyuko is her overall appearances. Lush blue Kimono, pink hair, it really fits her, always teasing Youmu and coming across and a kind and gentle character. She's also one of the few characters that I label as a "tragic figure" mainly due to how she had suffered through life only to find peace through her death but to only forget about her life. Which of course lead to the PBC incident eventually.

Course being a princess, she also have a fine taste in food as seen through the mangas and tends to be quite amusing compared to the memetic big eater complex she gain thanks to IN's senario.

Regadless, she hold a special place as being the kind, gentle, princess of the Netherworld a suitable feature for being moe~

Sunny has got a nasty uphill battle here. Cause while the 3 faires are awesome, they mainly depend on each other for this affect just like the prism river sisters. Thus the only thing Sunny has to go on is her looks and her rather bossy leader personality. In deed she's cute and moe that way, but I don't think it's going to help her when she's standing up to a well known figure who has been around long enough and appeared enough to establish her character very well through several games.

So yeah this is going to be a conflict between the a fairy who's mainly appeared in a manga for a few years and a game vs a ghost princess who's appeared in several games and a few mangas over the years.

I see no competion here for Yuyuko

Yuyuko get my vote.

It's a shame more people don't read the 3F stories. I myself have only meaningfully delved into OSP and even that's been enough for me to warm to them as much as I disliked GFW. Entertaining stuff.

I get the distinct feeling I'm going to be voting against Yuyuko for a number of rounds, though.

It's hard for me to choose, since I am honestly not properly familiar with Sunny. I may refrain from voting, or maybe I'll vote for Sunny, but it probably won't matter either way.

It might be worth it to vote anyway. There have been a number of matches in which characters that seem to have been doomed simply by who they were pitted against. They've still managed to receive a respectable number of votes even if they weren't necessarily major contenders in the first place. Still, you'll only get the full effect with a character you enjoy a lot.

Y'know, I used to think Yukari was a complete monster who abuses her powers and her friends. Then there was that time in one of the stories involving the three fairies in which she slips some money into Reimu's donation box. It was a very epiphanic moment and it helped me realize that is Yukari is only almost a complete monster who still abuses her powers and her friends.

Ok obviously Yuyuko won last night's match which is always good.

So let me move on with the Analysis:

Orin vs. Yukari

Orin:

Pros: Cat girl, corpse carrier (who are into that kind of thing), caring personality, Nice color scheme, can change into a cat

Cons: Being center around being a corpse carrier can be a turn off, chaging into a cat can also be a turn off factor for some

Yukari:

Pros: ability to use gaps, mature personality and appearance, detailed back story through game's history (from EoSD to present), god like capabilities, caring for her world

Cons: ability to use gaps, simply being a mature person can turn off some, trolling others (Reimu especially), laziness

Advantage: Orin

This is one of those fights that almost turned out to be dead even to my eyes. But I have a feeling I know how the fans will vote here.

Anyways, Yukari has always struck me as a VERY important figure not only in Touhou but in the world of Gensokyo in general. Thanks to PMiSS, we had very nicely detailed report on her and her role. She practically is more of less Gensokyo's caretaker, and had pretty much organized a lot of things since prior to it's existence. It's way to much for me to go into details here. But to put it in the shortest way possible. Yukari ultimately cares about Gensokyo in the end. She just has a very abstract way of showing it. She is also another one of the mature figures as well considering she's been around for probably longer than anyone else. This has always been a plus for me.

The only thing that may make or break Yukari's moe factor is her trolling personality she sometimes displays, and her laziness.

Orin on the other hand is have a strong advantage appearance wise. Cat girls obviously have a strong lead here. Other than that though we can look at how her role was like from SA and so forth. Pretty much Orin has shown to truly care about the situation that occurred in the underground during SA's incident enough to send dead sprits up from the underground to alert everyone that she needed help. She just didn't expect the help to be a bunch of humans.

She also has a love for collecting corpses which is probably the make or break factor for her since some people may or may not enjoy that kind of thing. And the fact she can change into a cat is also a double edge sword to some parts of the fan base. It all depends....

Course I think despite these factors, I feel most will lean to Orin's favor because of who she is and what she did. Since I feel most will likely disregard Yukari's historical role through the series's history.

As for me though, Yukari gets my support: Cause again, mature refined women get my vote more easily. Even if she is a lazy troll, she's still got a lot going for her here. Here's hoping she'll succeed.

Or maybe Yukari, while an interesting character, is an old hag who probably smacks her lips while talking about the old days when she was moe, whereas Orin is a fresh catgirl who's extremely happy and carefree while still being dutiful and thusly embodies many aspects of traditional moe.

Patchouli vs. Yamane

Patchouli

Pros: Magician, Librarian, catch phase "Muyku", bookworm, frail body

Cons: Frail body can be a turn off to some.

Yamane

Pros: Spider, confident personality, nice spider color scheme.

Cons: Being a spider youkai can be a turn off, lacking in some feature being a stage 1 boss.

Advantage: Patchouli

This is going to be one of those battles that will likely end one sided. I mean simply because Patchouli has much more of a developed charter compared to Yamane, both canon and fanon wise.

Yamane may be probably the best stage 1 boss I've seen, but I doubt she can stand up to a frail mage who's magic is noteworthy and also has an adorable catchphrase. There really isn't much Yamae can do as she only seems to fit in a particular group of fan bases.

Patchouli on the other hand has a much great field open to her. Mainly because of her status as being a librarian, a magician, a (somewhat) hikkimori, and saying Mukyu on some occasions. Even her frailness gives her some points.

This one's a no brainer here.

Patchouli has this battle in the bag.
