So yesterday my cousin was over and I decided to show her what Touhou was. Though she was scared at first, I finally managed to place her in front of my computer with Mountain of Faith waiting. Now I, being as bored as I was then, decided to select the stage for her. After some careful thinking, I decided to select a practice match. The stage 6 one. With Kanako. On Lunatic. Grinning, I pressed Z to start the game for her.

I never knew Touhou could make a college student cry. :wat:

I've taken my laptop with me to a friends' place once, back when I had PCB and IN loaded on it, and set it up for her roommate.

Five minutes later, 'OH GOD WHY ARE THE COLORS ANGRY!? GET ME OOOOUT AAAAAH'

I haven't had the opportunity to put up anyone to a specific stage before. (though I could be mean and have them play EoSD extra :V)

I do remember though, about a year and a half ago, I was showing someone what Touhou was (namely, EoSD), and he was clearly not interested. (he couldn't hear the music though) He stated that it looked like it was made from a drunk man. Lucky guess. >_>

I don't know why my friends won't give shmups a chance. Maybe southerners are too slow for these games. (I'm a southerner too)

I convinced my friend to play MoF on normal and he was enjoying it up until the fourth stage. He said something to the effect of "why do you even play this game, its just too hard, its not even fun." He considers himself very good at video games, but of course hes a CoD nut, as most of my friends are.

I try not to set people up on lunatic because I want them to understand the joy of touhou, the feeling of accomplishment when you finally capture that card or 1cc a game for the first time. But, I will admit it is funny.

I did something like that to a friend once, brought Mushihimesama Futari over to his house and told him to play on ultra, he quit within 30 seconds.

Also, the typical "Oh this is just some weird anime game" comes up a lot. The Reimu and pantheon of all the touhou characters posters on the wall can't help.

personally would have picked easy or hard.(stage 6 easy is still moderately dense)
It's more amusing if they struggle through the first few waves of bullets instead of just dying to the first.

Something along the lines of this. Even though it's funny to see people's reactions of the difficulty, I'm afraid it would just deter people.

I mean, I know how it is to be the ONLY one in my school who seems to know what Touhou is [as far as I know]. If I am pushing away potential fans, then I am sorry.

Against me: room mate decides to bother me when i am going against "Mishaguji-sama". Never knew anyone could die on the first wave of danmaku on that spell..........
(killed him for that later, as it was my last life)

Against friend: corrupting his mind by changing his desktop picture to touhou, add lots of touhou songs, folder names as touhou, touhou games on the desktop, keep telling him to play touhou until insanity finally forced him to play touhou once. Haven't heard from him since.

Well, thats what i've been doing the whole time...... I am also the only one that knows touhou and kept showing them remilia lunatic and flandre on youtuve.........

If it makes anybody feel any better, I may have got one of my friends into it (when he has a laptop to download some demos anyway), and all I did was show him one of my 1cc replays for IN, and a failed Extra attempt from the same game.

That said, I keep working on another friend, but the furthest I've got is convincing him to play a couple of games against me in PoFV. The most annoying part is that he keeps using Aya and murdering me, and I've had more practice than he has...

Mainly because I tell people to play Lunatic, only for them to recognize that what I'm telling them to play is Japanese, which prompts them to play Easy.
Except for my brother.

use Icicle Machine Gun
have it called cheap
make a Yukari deck with 4 train spells to show the true meaning of cheap
laser spam the first round
a couple lasers to knock down opponent
use train
laser spam for the flawless victory

I'd call that cruel.

I remember abusing youmu's 214B/C alt card(the one that hits low) and they couldn't block at all, they had to jump around the entire match.
