If we're going to play geometry wars (which I'm not convinced is the solution), I'd pick the point that would turn the trapezoid into a triangle above anything else.

That'll work too, let's go with that.

That'll work too, let's go with that.

>Head for the northern spot that would make the trapezoid a triangle, then land and try putting the sword together there.

>The large base is on the northern side. To make a complete triangle, one would have to go to the southern side.
>You land near the top of the trapezoid. The trees here are not particularly remarkable, and you don't see anything of note on the ground, just some underbrush, small rocks, and a puddle that has gathered in the rain.  Putting the sword together, you again sense a momentary burst of strong feeling from it, the usual anticipation, before it fades into the strange tingling.

The center of the trapezoid, maybe? To be honest, I'd be more inclined wandering around the area on the ground, to get a better chance of spotting something unusual.

>You move into the stand of trees. You look around, not seeing anything particularly impressive, until you look behind yourself. Where there was once some unimpressive forest, you now see a a different forest. One filled with more of these odd, smooth-barked trees, and other kinds of trees that also don't seem very familiar! It is as though the spot to the south where you were just landed is not actually there.

>You internally express your dismay, then walk southward. The trees are a bit dense here, limiting your vision, but looking every direction save north, all you can see are trees that don't seem to fit in the Forest of Magic. Here and there, you can see large, half-buried rocks; while such things were uncommon in the little valley that you had walked into.

> Walk toward it.

>You walk toward the birdsong, and the trees grow less dense. Looking around, you can see strange trees everywhere. Some of them look kind of like trees that you are familiar with, but are still markedly different enough that you wouldn't think they are the same after paying the attention that you have. The birds here most certainly have different songs. You can catch the sounds of insects, as well. Some are familiar and some are not. Looking around, only directly behind you, some yards away now, do you see anything like looks like the Forest of Magic, and only through a gap in the dense trees there.
>You find the source of the bird song in particular, a small brown bird presently on the ground with a red streak on its head. It looks kind of like a grouse, but you've never seen a grouse like this. It  pecks at the ground, keeping on eye on you.

>Grouses are too small for you to properly mimic. You did once take a raptor shape, but it wasn't a very good one in your opinion. Feathers are weird and hard to do right; you're pretty sure the ones you made wouldn't hold up to scrutiny. They certainly didn't let you fly...
>You give the grouse some room and walk around it. It hop and keeps facing you, likely so you won't catch it off guard if you were to try something. Moving onward, you quickly notice that it is not raining here. Pushing through underbrush, composed of plants and bushes as unfamiliar as trees, you soon find a path leading...east and west, you think, judging but how the shadows are falling.

>You have a sneaking suspicion about that at this point...
>Most of what you know about Makai you have learned over the course of the past couple of days. Apparently, it is a rather rough place.
>You start to follow the path westward. Here and there, you can see beams of sunlight shining through the forest canopy. As well, you an make out some curious, U-shaped foot prints in the dirt. Or, at least something you assume are footprints, you can't quite imagine what else they would be, save for some kind of strange faerie prank.

>They do look to be about the size of hooves, but hooves tend to leave circular indentions.
>You follow the prints along the path, walking through the strange forest. Despite all the unusual things, nothing really strikes you as particularly dangerous, in comparison to the Forest of Magic. In fact, you don't seem to note any faeries around, at least as far as you can hear or see. But, after following the trail for a few minutes, you think that you do hear a horse's wicker up ahead.

>You make your way toward the noise.
>Up ahead, you see a wide, shallow stream wending it's way through the forest. A large black horse stands at its banks, drinking from the water. Beside the horse stands a tall human in odd clothing. Rigid and shiny, it takes you a moment to see that he is wearing plates of metal over his upper body, with more plates guarding his legs and shins. A cloth garment of sorts hangs his back, and presumable his chest, white with intricate green markings all over it. His back is turned to you, allowing you to see long auburn hair that reaches down to his shoulder blades. His back is turned to you at the moment, as he pats the horse's shoulder. Almost as an afterthought, you notice the horse is saddled, a spear is attached to it, upright in the air with a pennant dangling from it.
