Nah. Everyone should be able to customize their own look for Minecraft. Some people might be playing the game with custom packs that have a higher resolution. Some people choose to remain with default "because that's the way that the game was originally designed". No need to force them into playing with a uniform texture pack.

Build what you want to build. That's what the game is all about. I, myself, prefer to have one or two bases in the world, specifically as a place to store my crap. After that, I look toward building things that are more
artistic. Also, there are projects that serve a functional purpose, like the Sheep Dispenser or Mob Grinders.
Try to think outside the same old "homes and bases" routine. The game really opens up at that point.
