Just tried playing on an actual online TF2 server for the first time yesterday (after ~180 hours of offline practice), and it was AWESOME.
I did a lot better than I thought I would against actual people (8:1 peak KDR, 3:1 average).

Then today I got myself a 20:1 KDR (40:2 total stats), and a 8:1 average (56:7 total stats after a couple of really stupid deaths where I wasn't paying attention.)
While playing, I noticed a spy wearing what looked suspiciously like Remilia's wings and hat. Anybody know what those are?

Also, anybody actually up for some Team Fortress 2?

We're usually on here and there, though we don't plan on another organized meetup until around US Thanksgiving.

Oh, and have two idiocy replays from yesterday's meet (with BSoD, Shady, Dusty, Exuro; Strafe left beforehand and I was spectating them on the MotK server to pull admin shenanigans :P).

Man getting 100 points in one round from being a spy and backstabbing everyone is just SO AWESOME. Especially when you realize that without you the team would've lost since they don't know how to place Sentries properly for defense.

Being a spy was especially awesome for me in 2fort when most of the players were bots. (ep and shady were on it too, can't remember if exuro was) I was cloaked, and a bot stood in the way, started yelling spy, and not letting me move, and you know what he did? HE STOOD THERE!
Pro AI is pro. (I didn't die after that either :V)

Bots are way, way, WAY too easy to spy on.  More than any other class, you can rack up insane kill streaks as a Spy against bots.

They are also absurdly easy to headshot with any Sniper primary (minus Sydney Sleeper) or Ambassador. :V

After all, they are made as training dummies. :D

That is until you jeopardize your cover or accidentally bump into one of the bots. Then, they are on you full force.

The Heavy/Medic bots are ridiculous on that 2fort server though. Perfect perception and tracking with their Miniguns kinda hurts.

On the other hand, Engineer bots exhibit some of the most moronic AI in the game. They hardly ever set up sentries, and if they do, they don't repair them. They spend all of their metal hiding dispensers and teleporters around the map. Then they charge at you with the shotgun, with no desire to ever touch their buildings ever again. I played one map that had four enemy engineer bots, and they all set up the teleporters in the same formation: Entrance at spawn, Exit in the center of the map. I guess the AI just isn't diverse enough in strategy. :V

One thing about bots that I've noticed is that they don't really like to push a front line. Well, at least on Freight...

Well, the Engie bots loves to make concentrated nests, but yeah, their placement is very odd. Most actual players would put them behind map geometry or the like and try to cover choke points (eg. the main route to the second round 1 CP in Dustbowl). These guys just tend to stick them out in the open.
Plus they, from my experience, rarely upgrade dispensers and teleporters.

It still beats the Spy AI though. Granted, that class would be difficult to code to approximate human behaviour, but it is still absurdly easy to tell a bot Spy (usually on servers that impose class limits and/or Highlander mode). At least it can cloak, disguise, and backstab :V (originally they just revolver-spammed to victory).

And thus we have another Frontburning W+M1 Pyro

Speaking of Spies, defending Spy on Dustbowl and Badwater is just getting too effective. Backstab after backstab after backstab after Enforcer kill...easily racked up 30+ points in a single round. I have no idea why I haven't done this beforehand.

Welp. Looks like you got it covered for me.

Backburner would be nicer if it had a liiiiiittle bit of a bigger 'back' range on it. Nothing absurd like the Spy backstab being able to stab from off to the side, but not so tiny as it is right now, either. Either that, or an afterburn caused by a Backburn crit should mini-crit each tick, or something. At the cost of the 10% damage bonus.

Said it before, I'll say it again; that 10% bonus makes more Pyro's just W+M1 with the Backburner into peoples' faces rather than actually try to ambush with it. 'Hurr durr why go for back-crits when I can just burn their faces off in the same amount of time it'd take for me to line up a shot to the back'

Exactly. They love camping outside of spawn when ubered too... not that they don't do that otherwise. Not to mention their bot ESP tells them to trigger uber when they aren't even looking at the bubbling Pyro getting ready to axe murder the both of them from behind. They just know I'm coming.

I rarely see a Backburner Pyro actually do this. It's 85% of the time going to be a Frontburner.

Personally, I find the Degreaser almost a straight upgrade from the Flamethrower. The very fast weapon switch allows for easy Puff & Sting gameplay (ie. light them up, airblast, Axtinguish) and afterburn damage is not that significant.

I heartily agree with that. Right now our server is used for quick small-group (as in, 4-6 players) skirmishes between several of us (usually because at the times we play bots dominate most vanilla US/CA servers, and EU ones are too laggy for some).

Having a few more players on a regular basis would be neat.
