I wonder how many of my crates I can swap out for a Familiar Fez... hmm. Worth looking in to, I suppose. Might play Spy a little more aggressively if I had the set.
The trick to playing spy more aggressively is to not use the C&D :D

Also, crates aren't worth that much.  You might get lucky, but it'll probably take around 6 or so for one scrap.  Newer crates you might get a better deal on (series 19+).  A Familiar Fez is worth about 2.33 refined, and if you have any random hats you don't care for you should be able to get at least one refined for each of 'em.
Cheating? I cannot even wrap my head around the point of it. Wouldn't you know you had cheated? How on Earth could you maintain crisp certainty of your superiority to all others? And if you're unable to do that, what's the point of anything?

I only have 19+ series crates. Bunch of 22s, some 20s, a 24, and I think a 23? No 21s if I'm not mistaken. And I have like 8 crates. I think. I just sort of gloss over them when I look into my backpack.

Also I have an Ellis' Cap but I really don't want to get rid of it - it's a global hat and Sniper looks funny wearing it :3
If only I played Sniper, lol

Burning Team Captains easily go past the $1,000 USD range, as sad as that may sound. They're the most highly-demanded unusual, next to Burning/Sunbeams Modest Piles of Hat and high-tier Soldier unusuals like the Killer's Kabuto.

Hats are srs bznss.  :V

Friend's selling a burning flame team captain for 2000, keep telling him to lower so that he gets more acceptable offers, but he doesn't listen.

Welp, something got broken again with that last update. Now every time I change server I go back to the default loadouts for each class, and when I change them to something else, I can't see the stock items anymore. Equipped Your Eternal Reward on Spy to try it out for a life or two? TOO BAD YOU CAN'T GO BACK TO REGULAR DISGUISE KIT NOW SUCKER HA HA
KRITZKRIEG OR QUICK-FIX ONLY IF YOU CHANGE IT FUCK THE REGULAR UBER MIRITE

And I can't see anyone's weapons unless it's one of the new ones, which sucks balls when I'm looking for a Pyro hiding around corners. No more flame-thrower snout to tip me off.

Still interested in landing a Familiar Fez if anyone has access to one.

That won't get you very far, you know.

I suggest trying to actually aim your grenades directly at enemies and buildings so that they explode on contact. Much cleaner, more effective, and gets your enemies out of the way better.
As for which grenade launcher to use, well, your choice (standard one for delayed explosions, indirect attacks, or grenade jumping; Loch-n-Load for harder & faster damage and clearing crowds and/or sentry nests head-on).

No comment on stickies from me, since I do terribly with them and resort to Demoknight strategies instead.

Well of course I aim. I dont just shoot them every which direction that's just stupid.  Maybe I'm describing my tactics incorrectly....

Loch-N-Load is great for sentries.  It's so easy to destroy engy nests after you learn the arc and get used to the speed.  I have a hard time switching between the two launchers at will when it comes to nailing people with pipes, so I usually main the LnL and temporarily switch to the grenade launcher when I know there are some nice spammable spots that are hard to break into.

That won't get you very far, you know.

I don't remember if it was this thread or one of the servers I frequent but someone suggested renaming a LnL to the 'I'm Already Good At Demoman So I Am Playing To My Strengths'

You know why I love the Dead Ringer?

So many times I've killed Engineers, thinking they're so safe beside a sentry, when I (after killing someone else for their disguise) kill them while they pound away on their sentries.

Did that one glorious time today, their entire team was pushing up towards the spawn, I managed to sneak past them (hooray cloak and dagger), and killed another engineer at the spawn as he was tending the dispenser, away from the sentry's sight.

Killed the engineer just still beside his sentry, sapped them all, capped the last point quickly before the team could get back.

Aww yeah game changers ftw BV

It's a toss-up for me now between regular Invisi-Watch and the Dead Ringer. I'm trying to stay away from the Cloak and Dagger watch, because honestly, there really IS enough ammo lying around for you to make a marathon run to wherever you need to be, provided you don't cloak before you run out of your spawn.

Well, now my entire item loadout has vanished, and trying to open any one class loadout screen results in an instantaneous hard-crash to desktop with no error messages whatsoever.

Wonderful.

The Hatless Update broke TF2 like that for me, minus the loss of loadout. It took them a good two weeks to fix. I'd add onto the Spy discussion, but I'm a god-awful Spy and have no right to speak on the subject.

C&D is quite meh - it's therefore joked as the 'Camp & Dagger' by some players.

Switched to DR from C&D upon playing VSH (where DR really aids in survival), and haven't gone back to any of the other watches since, even in vanilla play,

Okay, tried kunai spy for the first time since it came out. I didn't die, so that's an improvement.

Plus I figured out what kept crashing the game! Turns out having 7 sound mods that don't work on valve or any sv_pure servers was the problem. Or one of my skins. Somehow.

Also I need name suggestions for weapons/hats. That or I name my Brigade Helm "The SOS Brigade Helm" and watch as no one gets it.

I had to take all of my sound mods out for that reason, too. I have the folder saved somewhere in the depths of my spare sound files. I really do miss my Utsuho ubercharge sounds.

Stabby uploaded a new video.
This made me play as spy for a few rounds of payload. Most of my kills were with the revolver, very few backstabs.
Found the revolver that does 20% more damage, prefer it over the sniper one.
But I still need to practice using good disguises, backstabbing, and taking out engie nests. :(
What do you guys prefer, C&D or DR?
They think I'll think that they'll do (A) so they'll do (B) because I wouldn't think they'd think of that but then because they might think I know what they're thinking they'll do (A) after all because I wouldn't think they'd think that way.

Personally i prefer DR since i have gotten quite used to it and quite good with it lately. Usually when i play spy for a decent amount of time, i usually get one of the highest (if not the highest) score on the servers. That said, i haven't been playing against the brightest people in the world, usually trying to get on the Valve servers.

I played a bunch of DR+Enforcer last night and ended up in first by a considerable amount.  I don't care for the C&D though - given a choice I'll stick with the regular IW.

What do you guys prefer, C&D or DR?

The C&D is good for traversing long distances entirely cloaked and camping out areas, waiting for a good time to strike or relaying information about the other team's setup (usually just counting sentries). The DR is for more aggressive spies who like to use the element of surprise to catch the other team off-guard, especially after they see that first rag-doll drop. I personally prefer the C&D because it lets me creep around the map without being seen, but I find myself being drawn to the front lines (and getting a stab or two more) when using the DR.

Picking the best disguise mostly has to do with what you want to do at the moment. Engis are usually seen around buildings, so disguising as one will help in sapping them. Any offensive class except a soldier (they'll notice your not-rocket-spam) will help stop a push. Snipers who aren't using the Huntsman will shoot from a vantage point away from combat, so a fellow "sniper" in the roost will not draw a lot of attention from the enemy team (usually only the sniper(s) you keep stabbing will know you're there, and they'll either move or switch classes).
