>Keep carting Tewi in whatever direction Rikako leads
>"Not planning to cause you any more trouble than I already have, once we get this little issue sorted."
>"Was pretty surprised to find a place like this out here, actually. What drives a couple of humans to live in the middle of nowhere, I wonder."
>Crack a little grin.
>"Other than trying to stay away from nosy people like myself, of course."

>Rikako leads you toward the kitchen.  "We have our reasons for being out here," says Rikako. "Aside from periodically getting groceries or visiting the hot spring, we don't spend much time northward anymore."

>"It's an invention of Rika's, actually," says Rikako. "But, to tell you the truth, it's really not as great as it looks. It's strong and doesn't burn down, but it's also really chilly in the winter. Not that she would admit that."
>The two of you enter the kitchen, and Rikako leads you toward a stairway in the corner that you didn't have time to notice during your last visit here.

>"How about The Stuff We Entombed Nue with in the Basement?"
>Rikako nods. "Maybe."
>You descend into the basement to see it is fairly spacious, with shelved fill with foodstuffs in jars, dry goods, and so on. They could probably last through winter on what is done here if they ate lightly. The walls seem to be made of the same material as the building outside, and the floor seems to be poured mortar. The air is noticeably cooler than upstairs. To the side, you can see a bed, some tables and chairs, a few shelves full of personal knickknacks, and so on. Loose papers are scattered everywhere.

Well this turn of events is irritating and somewhat surprising but not wholly shocking.

Right now I think the best thing to do is to not try to one-up each other in finger-jabbing (OMGUS is scummy, after all), but figure out why both of us came to the conclusions we did, dissect what might be wrong about these things, and work to find the real criminal.
