Title: [Music] Screw GiantBomb, we have GiantBump!
Post by: Dark on May 04, 2011, 01:01:25 AM
So, if this isn't the 545636437473564y564363564th thread about this, then great!

I think I've made a great replication of the ZUNtrumpets (lol easy) using GlaceVerb as a VST effect plugin in FL. This is where I share the preset for FL and give instructions for all those Cirnos people who don't use FL. For your convenience, everything will be included in a zip file which is on my Dropbox. ^^ (However, you'll need to download THDrum.sf2 and THInst.sf2 seperately as they made the zip file massive and I had to remove them.)

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/25978520/ZUNtrumpets.zip

Will upload example later.

EDIT: Just realised I was an idiot and forgot the most important part!

INSTRUCTIONS:

FL 10

1. Extract all files called GlaceVerb to your VstPlugins folder
2. under Program Files\Image-Line\FL Studio ##\Data\Patches\Plugin presets\Effects, make a new folder called "Fruity Wrapper - GlaceVerb" and extract Zuntrumpets.fst there.
3. Using THInst.sf2, enjoy instant ZUNtrumpets using only one mixer effect slot!

OTHER

1. FL 10 STEP 1.
2. Load up the THInst soundfont and GlaceVerb in your equivalent of a mixer, in GV's presets, select "Dense Ensembles" and...
3. under Surface, lower Absorption to 0%.
4. under Surface, lower Density and Width to 50%.
5. turn the Room knob all the way to the left.
6. Save preset, if you can, and enjoy instant ZUNtrumpets!

Well, I think you should let our resident FL user (Anunsew) know about this in his/her thread. (http://www.shrinemaiden.org/forum/index.php/topic,6378.0.html). (S)he's also a THFont user so this won't be too hard.

In the meantime, however, Spaztique and I have created a psuedo ZUNpet via the Roland TTS-1 softsynth in Sonar. His examples are up (http://www.shrinemaiden.org/forum/index.php/topic,8793.0.html); mine are still in the works (trying to get a Logic version up and running via THFont as well).

Finally got around to uploading an example in wave format due to quality and perfect looping in Winamp.

/me makes sure this wasn't a game rip

It isn't. XD I have a lot of soundfonts (>2GB of them), and it sounds really close, but it isn't a rip. I actually used a resequenced midi.

Hm, another massive SoundFont library user! I'd ask for a list of them but it'd be a bit crazy, I can imagine.

Good trumpets, I'll say that.

I only used two of them here, so I'll list those two: Titanic GS 200 and THFont (obviously). I have 62745276452765436752764y5734583653784653 more, though. XD

Titanic is a good soundfont, defintely. I think you beat me in the number of used soundfonts by a big margin (only about 50 total here and I don't use all of them at once).

I have ~310. XD I don't use them all at once either, but I do have a lot. XD

I hope I don't get royally owned for double-posting, but I've been toying around with Super Quartet to try and replicate the IN pianos and I've made some progress. Again, not a gamerip.

Nice. Though the ZUNpets are a bit too layered....

The Jazz and Rock basses IIRC are also the same in the SD-90, FYI.

Got working ZUNpianos in the intro.

Listening to Spaz's version made me want to remake this myself, so I did. XD

Remaking song soon as well now that this version is up for comparison.

Pianos are a bit strong IMO while the ZUNpets are a tad weak for my taste.

Ack, I use FL Studio 9, so I might not be able to get this to work. >.<

Though I don't think it would hurt to try...
Anyway, I'm glad ThFont is getting more attention. XD

There's a such thing as "Lifetime free updates", you know. XD

This is also why I actually /included/ the VST effect plugin in the zip file, and wrote out instructions for it. XD (Tip: GlaceVerb is free, so I'm not doing anything illegal. XD)

EDIT:
I somehow got it working.

Original trumpet melody (Without vst, using Thfont's Patch 57s) (http://dl.dropbox.com/u/8508770/trumpyorig.mp3)
Trumpet melody with GV using THfont's Patch 57s (http://dl.dropbox.com/u/8508770/trumpysamp.mp3)
Mp3. 192bitrate

it's a lot cleaner. XD
I applied it only to Patch 57 aka the Romantic Trumpet (one of the three patches I use for trumpets), since the other two instruments sound bad with the preset given. The VST and preset took out the annoying buzzing sound caused by RomT at high frequencies. XD

...I'm definitely will be using this VST regularly. :D

I fixed up the piano volume problems, made the trumpets more audible, and added in  a much-needed master effect chain. Stupid me for forgetting to master the original! XD

+10 Character
+35 Cutoff
+~15 Resonance
+75 Reverb

More UFO. At the End of Spring is one of my favorite ZUN pieces, so I decided to attempt a recreation of it.
