Title: Mystic Square Extra
Post by: Esoterica on October 12, 2009, 02:07:32 AM
I've only tried it twice so far (game over'd clipping something in Alice's second phase the first time, first phase the second), but I can tell this is a fight I'll need help with.

First off, the stage I have no problem with, until the end bullet spam.  Tips on dodging that would be highly appreciated.

Second, the midboss in general.

Third...well, Alice's first phase probably doesn't have a trick to it, so I guess I'd just like to know what to watch out for.  No videos please.

Using Mima, by the way.

For the first phase, tap once to the left and you'll dodge all the random spam. And then just stream the second part of it.

Yeah, the end of the bullet spam is an autobomb. I've seen videos, I've heard Baity's analysis, but in the end there's no simple trick to make it easy that I'm aware of, and it's a rare event where I don't die to it.. It's best to just make sure you have a bomb in reserve for that part.

And here I thought that only worked for the initial wave.  Thanks.

Donut: That's not what I wanted to hear :<  Thanks though.

Edit: Alright, Alice's first phase is down.  Now I need to stop bombing the midboss's first phase, and stop clipping Alice's second phase. :)

lol, I say that and this run of MS extra I survive the preboss spam. The problem is that if you don't want a video it's kind of hard to show you how to do it.

The bullet spam at the end, while difficult, is completely doable. Start near the upper right corner and stream downward to the bottom of the screen to the left of the screen, work your way to the top middle back to the bottom, and tap right for the rest.

It's hard to explain, so perhaps a visual aid would help (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fabYgGSpOKc&feature=related). I watched this a couple of times and I dodged it all on my next try.

It's not that I don't want a video so much as it is that certain circumstances make it impossible for me to view them.

Though speaking of that part, what's the best way to deal with the cards when they're coming in two separate rows?

With Mima can you can reliably start about 1/3 from the top of the screen and just run from one side to another shooting the cards, slowly backing down as needed. Marisa can shoot everything while changing sides as well but her weird shot means it's better to start at the bottom and stay there.

Another option is, of course, to stick to one side shooting one of the rows, wait for the horizontally-aligned cards at the end to appear and just bomb everything you didn't shoot. I wouldn't bomb here though since you might want these bombs elsewhere on the stage - midboss, switching sides against the invincible cards while under attack from fairies, and bullet spam before Alice are all much harder than the double rows.

Oh hey he DID respond. :V Actually hitting reply would have been nice though.
