Tumblr (http://hurrayforapathy.tumblr.com/)
Picarto (https://picarto.tv/PlanetKitten) (streams will be here when I do them)
Youtube (https://www.youtube.com/user/HurrayForApathy) (for the rare times I record myself)
I'm Kitten4u and I draw stuff sometimes! Very slowly. I'm going to try to stream weekly now, so I'm finally getting around to making a thread here.
The stream is over. Thanks for coming!

Head done, time to start the body (http://s26.postimg.org/dij7wkgbt/xiasenguptawip2.png)
Perhaps my goal of finishing the upper body this week isn't as unreasonable as I thought it was. Anyway, thanks for coming everyone, stream is off.

First speed painting ever (http://hurrayforapathy.deviantart.com/art/One-Hour-Drawing-507729792). I spent an hour on it. Overall I'm pretty happy with how it came out even if I didn't have time to fix everything. It just feels so weird to spend so little time on something.

Oh hey I remember you from back in the Guilty Alice days.
Not sure how you did that one called photo study, of the girl, in your gallery, bit I think it looks really nice. Very pretty.
The new ones you've shown in your thread so far have a very distinct sort of ethnic-ness about the faces. Is there one you have in mind or are using as a reference while doing them?
And anyway, your proclamation of commitment of weekly updates is a bold one. Live up to it!

The photo study really was just a photo study: I copied a photo and tried to get it as close to what the photo looked like as possible. It's a lot easier to copy a photo than it is to draw anything from imagination (even with reference), so it came out a lot better than what I can normally do. Other than that, it wasn't any different from how I draw anything else.
The speedpaint did not use any reference at all. I just started drawing and didn't stop for an hour. The one I've been working on in the streams, I use some reference, but only when I get stuck really. She's one of my boyfriend's characters, and she was created to basically introduce this concept in his setting. She's a type of genetically modified human built for combat, and their most notable features are their bull-like parts. I wanted to make a proof of concept piece for him for Christmas, so I didn't want to spoil the surprise by talking to him, so all I had to go on was her name (Xia Sengupta) and her intro on the type of genetically modified human she was. The name suggested that she was probably a Chinese/Indian mix, so I was going for that, and then mixing in some various bull-like features into the face (the square nose and jaw being the big ones outside the obvious).
Hope that made sense, I'm somewhat half asleep right now.

Is she supposed to look like a child? Check for proportions
-
I'm assuming you're talking about the speedpaint as opposed to the WIP (if you're not let me know because the WIP is definitely not supposed to look childish). I didn't have any particular image in mind for the speedpaint, I just painted a face until the hour was up. She just ended up looking really young because that's what I ended up drawing without thinking about it. It tend to draw the eyes too big, so it doesn't surprise me too much.

Here we go again.
A thread full of people 3/4 en face :derp:
-
I'm not quite sure what you mean. Only one of the things I've posted here is in a 3/4 view?
-
Only one of the things you've posted here is not a straight view.
It seems to be somewhat common in AAA, though, for artists to prefer a single angle and draw mostly it. Not like I'm complaining, I, for example, have yet to draw a single angle decently.
-
I just saw your work, and regardless of the angle, I think your work is pretty cool. I like the photo-realistic/painted approach. Of course, I'm kind of curious to know what it would look like with colors, but I'm actually really impressed with the level of depth you are able to get using just gray-scale
-
Thanks! I do color things sometimes, I'm just not good enough to squeeze color into a one hour speed painting yet. (x (http://orig15.deviantart.net/fa5e/f/2015/089/8/7/amaterasu_by_hurrayforapathy-d8nr76q.png) x (http://hurrayforapathy.deviantart.com/art/Xia-Sengupta-520434380))

I tried a new coloring technique and I like the results (http://orig05.deviantart.net/15ed/f/2015/213/0/4/chastity_evans_by_hurrayforapathy-d93sexs.png)
-
I decided to draw another Touhou (http://orig06.deviantart.net/331c/f/2015/272/1/7/yukari_yakumo_by_hurrayforapathy-d9bddlz.png)
-
More game concept stuff (http://hurrayforapathy.deviantart.com/art/Flora-Rebane-566546768)

This is the fastest I've ever drawn anything (http://hurrayforapathy.deviantart.com/art/Laisir-Vemieth-569114521)
-
Cool! Is it for Halloween?
-
Nah, just a random picture of an original character of mine
-
I swear I still draw sometimes. More original character stuff (http://hurrayforapathy.deviantart.com/art/Miranda-Geier-582054677)

Is honest critique okay with you?
-
Is honest critique okay with you?
Yep

Then you, good friend, will be pleased to be told that every one of your drawings so far have been nothing but eldritch horrors.
That is not to say that your work isn't grounded in 'some' amount of reality; laugh lines or nasolabial folds do exist, but you've butchered them entirely because you don't understand them. And it is because you emphasis so highly on these folds, making sharp contrast in value, that make each face look downright awful. The latest one has you doing the same thing for the chin.
You shouldn't even be painting (airbrushing however, by the look of things) anything right now. What you need is to learn how to draw a face. There are plenty of resources. Loomis, Hampton, Bridgeman, will make you understand what a face 'is'.
I can't type this without second guessing myself if this isn't one big joke I'm not getting, but if it's bait then I've bitten it.

I guess that's the gist of it :u
