Title: Touhou Dreams
Post by: Tengukami on May 30, 2012, 03:10:01 PM: Yep, it's time for this thread again. Any Gensokyans appear in your dreams lately? Or did you perhaps dream you were in Gensokyo, Makai, the Netherworld or wherever else?

I bring this up because I had a really bizarre dream a few days ago. I was in a large Shinto shrine, which I understood in my head to be the Hakurei Shrine. Outside, there was early morning sunshine. Reimu walked into the shrine, looking very austere and serious. She didn't pay attention to the fact that I was there, so I just watched what she was doing.

She walked to a little wooden cupboard near the floor and opened it up. Inside was a computer - just your standard home desktop PC (don't ask me where the electricity came from - it was a dream, alright?). On the screen, I saw a score of sheet music - mostly quarter notes, both melody and bass, in a steady rhythm not deviating much from A major. Carefully, as if performing a sacred ritual, Reimu sat down in front of the computer, picked up a microphone, and began to chant.

Now, this chant was not in Japanese. It wasn't in any language I could identify. It was a steady series of vowels and consonants and I would kill to remember exactly how the chant went. But I do remember her voice was decisive, sharp and clear, and that the rhythm was about two beats per second. I felt a calming feeling wash over me as she chanted. With each sound she made, each note on the screen changed from black to yellow. When all the notes were yellow, she put the microphone down, made a click with the mouse, and then closed the cupboard, bowing her head.

In my mind, I understood that this was a daily chant that she, and other shrine maidens around the world, sent out to the heavens. The words are different each time; they are personal to the particular shrine maiden and the particular day, but the melody is always the same. An electronic prayer, in other words.

I have no idea what this means.

This will sound will sound weird, but do you remember the melody itself? Unless I miss my guess, it sounds like the chant was a song, and songs are meant to be heard by other people.

Yeah, that's the thing - I'm not sure for who the chant was intended. I think that all the shrine maiden chants around the world were just broadcast into the ether of space, to be heard by the gods.

As for the melody, it was quarter notes, about two beats per second, in A major. It was very simple, with most of the notes falling directly on A, punctuated by C# and B.

After searching around on YouTube, the closest I found to how the chant sounded was this (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NQzoy7gjRt8). Gives me chills to hear it now, as close as it sounds.

To be honest I'm not really versed in Shinto or Buddhist chants, and was frankly very surprised when I searched "shinto chant" in YouTube and heard what sounded almost exactly like what I dreamed. But I guess I must've heard them somewhere before, I mean, how else would I know what they sounded like?

Anyway, here's a more recent, much better one. I was walking around my house waiting for a soccer mach (Japan versus some other national team, either Germany or USA I think) when something in the room with the TV caught my attention. I went there to check what was up. As it turned out, there was a music video of U.N. Owen Was Her on TV. Well, not exactly U.N. Owen Was Her, but rather some vocal arrange with the main melody heavily altered and barely recognizable. The lyrics were in English, but with Japanese subtitles. The video itself consisted of Flandre playfully running around on some meadow, in full sunlight. I tried to notify a friend, but writing the message took me so long that the video ended before I was done.

Another time, it was a strange crossover that involved Yuuka and two other girls (dunno who they were) marrying a character from another series and some weird stuff involving the girl going insane and crashing an airplane (don't ask how we got one) and Yuuka trying to talk her out of it. I'm not sure if I was supposed to be Reimu watching the whole mess unfold and getting ready to step in, or myself...

1. I'm back in my apartment in Korea and my younger sister is playing some kind of tag game with my younger cousin in the living room. The doorbell rings and I go out to see who it is - it is Remilia and Flandre. They came here to see me, and I talk Gensokyo with them (asking them how is Gensokyo, what is Yuyuko doing, etc.) - pretty much the dialog was in Japanese. Then, Flandre sees my younger sister playing tag with my younger cousin and asks me if she can join. I say "go ahead".

That's when the dream goes in a funny note - Remilia, Flandre, my younger sister, and my cousin start running around in circles in the middle of the room while squealing in a somewhat... cheerful way. After Remilia is done she asks me out on a cup of tea. I say yes, and the Scarlet sisters leave, which is when the dream ends.

2. Koishi appeared in my dorm room, blankly staring at me. Then the dream ended :X

So far had no dream involving Yuyuko's appearance. Would be amused if she did appear in one of my dreams though.

I normally can't either! I think the last dream I can remember happened ... last year some time, and before then, years ago. That just added to the strangeness of this dream. Why did I dream again, and why this? It boggles my mind.

...Or was that the Fire Emblem OVAs? All I know is that I think she was having an argument with someone who looked like Roy. (Over eggs maybe?)
(The dream afterwards was a surreal, Armored Core-esque one with no touhou.)

I also vaguely remember another dream involving me going to the door of this house, nice little suburban place, and who should answer the door but Flan?
Weird thing was, she seemed kinda scared when she saw me, like a typical little girl.
What I'd like to know is, why was she scared? Was it my face? I'm not that ugly... :fail:

Ya know, that reminds me of when I was a kid were everything was flashing wither OOC (out of commission) or OOO (Out of Order) before I ran into such a term. Things like dreams can be very odd things, sometimes having loads of meaning, other times not. I can't seem to get it down how to remember dreams or reaching a dream state very good.

Though I did have an odd momentary dream where I heard this child-like voice singing something about someone being lazy like a dropped jaw (I'm guessing this was a reference to cartoon when a jaw drops to the floor.). Other odd thing was I saw a flash of Koishi so I think it was her. It was when I decided to take a nap before I went to leave for my second try getting back all the way home from my little Reitaisai trip. It's kinda spooky how close that encounter is to her real article.

I was so happy since I knew I had enough resources to make it, and then I woke up :V

Usually I can third that, it's just on the rare occasion I do remember them, they tend to be extra strength weird and/or based on fandom(s).

Can I point out the irony that your nickname says "dreamer"? :) Sorry, couldn't help it.

One thing that I've tried that worked very well for me is writing down my dreams first thing after waking up. As a result I have very good dream recall because it became natural for me to think about my dreams right after waking up, even before opening my eyes. I've got a pretty long "dream journal" I guess you would call it that I'll read before going to sleep and that puts me in a mind state that I feel like I'll remember my dreams better. I really hope no one ever finds it...

Back when I was doing this every day I had some very lucid dreams that I can recall as if they happened while I was awake, if not more so. Some of them were genuinely scary because of how real they seemed, but very cool none the less.

As for Touhou dreams, I'll have to go through my journal but more than anything I can recall the music in one of my dreams very well, it probably has a lot to do with the fact that I fall asleep with music on a lot, so its fresh on my mind.

I had a dream that I was in a Formula 1 race with Last Remote blaring in my car (not sure how the hell I would be able to hear it) but because of that Last Remote is my favorite driving song. That song has an incredible bass line that just doesn't sound as good on my computer speakers or headphones, in fact... I think I'll go for a drive!

Another thing that's not related to dreams per se is I apparently talk a lot in my sleep. My parents have tried to record this many times but failed, I really want to see it. My mom did tell me one time that I kept finishing my "sentences" (it sounds more like just syllables thrown together apparently) with "da ze", could be coincidence but I doubt it.

I haven't really had many Touhou-related dreams in some time. The last I can recall was me arguing with my mother, then suddenly breaking out into a musical number while Yamame's theme played. That...is a dream I won't ever forget.

I'm a BIG fan of irony, but my nickname refers to the fact that it's insanely easy for me to start daydreaming extremely lucid things, it's like my consciousness goes, "Okay Brain, we learnt how to drive, you have the instructions engraved into your very matter, now I'll be out for a bit. Call me if there are problems."

I tried that once for like a week, but it never really worked, I'd always forget my dreams the moment I wake up. Well, except for a few that I believed had messages I guess, but once I tell the recipient, it quickly fades away from my memory.

In fact, even if you already got up and forgot about it, returning to the position in which you were asleep can help you remember. And if you do remember it right after waking up, writing down a few notes can be enough to jog your memory later, in case you don't have time to write the whole thing out immediately. It takes me hours to write them sometimes. :V

Not sure which, all I knew was that the puppets didn't look anything like either the 1.5 or 1.8 sprites (though that could just be my brain filtering to show this was the "reality" of the dream). And I encountered a Shiny Yuyuko. Chalking this one up to how long it took me to get her in 1.8...

Well, two days ago, I was waiting for my lecturer to hand in my assignment when my mind wandered off into the lands of dreams, and next thing I know, Koichi is just chilling there sitting next to me with this insanely vague smile and kicking her feet. So, not sure if I'm going crazy or if I was actually asleep, I looked straight ahead only to find her face right against mine, as a note: vague smile + blank eyes are really creepy yo. Any ways, glad she has my attention, she straightens up and twirls on the spot, and a rather familiar-looking parasol was pointed at me. I couldn't get a clear look of Yuuka's face, she suddenly twirled on the spot and as Koichi she ran away.

Gasping a little, I hear my lecturer's chuckles as I stood up and got him to tell me what happened. Apparently, I was just sleeping.

I was playing some kind of skydiving game on my Xbox... didn't know what game it was, but kind of looked like the base jumping from Grand Theft Auto TBoGT, but then Yukari comes in and asks me if I'd like to join her on a skydiving. I said yes, and then she suddenly makes that mysterious grin of hers and says that she has an even better idea than having herself and me actually do the jumping. She suddenly gaps Youmu and says "this is a training session!" and then... we're in the skies - night skies. Yukari and I are just floating in the sky, like ten thousand feet off the ground, along with a frightened Youmu. From there Yukari and I are floating down the sky on some sort of invisible magic carpet. Youmu has a parachute on her back and starts free falling while screaming out "SAVE MEEEEE!" I ask Yukari if Youmu knows how to open a parachute and then Yukari answers "well, all we have to do is... just float".

So I enjoy the floating down the air with Yukari and Youmu opens her parachute... well, if only it were a parachute, because IT TURNS OUT THAT IT WAS A HANG GLIDER, and all I hear from her is things like "Wheeeee GTFO of my way bitches!" and "Fuck yeah! I got this!". All of a sudden, out of nowhere, Aya comes in with her parachute and starts taking snaps of us. Youmu gets mad and starts dive-bombing into Aya with her hang glider. At the point where we landed on the ground, I woke up from my nap.

Gotta ask Aya for them pictures of my "skydiving" with Yukari. Where did she go?

I dreamt it was winter and a rocket ship settled near my garage and out came Kaguya, Mokou Sakuya and Flandre.

They urged me to go into the rocket ship and I distinctly felt haunted as soon as I stepped in; as if I knew this was my last time on earth.

We hurled through space and there was a malfunction with the ship and we begin to fall out of the ship.
I awoke from a brick alley and saw Ran by my side saying the worlds between Gensokyo and Earth begin to intermix with each other.
I felt worried and when we stepped out of the alley I saw a blown out war between Gensokyo and earth.

My most distinct memory of this was a tank shooting down Momiji and feeling anger I hadn't felt since my "dark years"
Taking bullets, I jumped into the tank and tore the guy inside to pieces.
The rest of the dream followed with me rending flesh and feeling full of madness and sorrow.

And then I woke up :V

I've had a recurring dream of attending the same university as Renko...as a ghost, no less.

Also had one involving Koishi as a jazz singer a few months back. The song she sang didn't seem to exist, but it was particularly strange since I had no prior knowledge of Touhou.

For example, a silver kitsune or a white dog.
Anyone got any tips on lucid dreaming?

On an unrelated note, I dreamt of getting caught in a nuclear explosion which somehow propelled me to the moon...then Yukari said she would teach me how to danmaku, and started throwing art supplies at me.

A classmate of me once held a presentation about lucid dreaming. I now could write a long wall of text, but everything he said is already kinda summarized here (http://www.wikihow.com/Lucid-Dream). Maybe it helps you.

On-Topic:
I almost never dream about Touhou. In one dream though, Sanae appeared and then quickly changed (or say transformed) into a random person I had never seen before. My dreams mostly consist of surreal stuff, like animals riding bicycles in my home town :V

The dream was simply me meeting a new person and gaining a crush on them.
But the touhou part is that for half of the dream we hung around the Moriya Shrine, plus while we were there I ran inside real quick and prayed to Suwako to make this crush turn into something more.

Very very simple.

My mom won (obviously) and everyone quickly started to leave. I wondered why and my uncle said that "things" in this house will appear soon. So we all stated to leave. But my family left me because I was trying to unplug my DS. As it was unplugged I think I heard Nue Hojuu's laugh and she said "Things are real when you least expect it...and when you least expect it I create it..." and as I went to leave, I SAW LOADS OF MOTHERF*CKING GATHERERS THERE and they killed me.
I woke up but it was 2 hours before I had to actually get up for school. So I went to sleep again.
I was then dreaming that I woke up in a hospital. We left but me and my younger brother got lost and we randomly joined this group of other people who were trying to defeat Nue. We won but Nue revived and used Mysterious Snake Show on us. We all died excpet for me and my bro. We ran as fast as we can away from her through a a crowded part of the city. Nue then caught up with us and tried to use "The Bow Of Genzanmi Yorimasa" on my brother. I jumped in to save his death and I died, but he survived. My mom then woke me up.

Again, most of my Touhou dreams involve me playing the games, and getting unrealistically high scores :getdown:

Other than that, Touhou characters always seem to be cameo appearances in my dreams. Like, Kaguya and Reisen are walking around my school, or Aya is on TV. Never anything major.
There was even that one time I was walking through a crowd having fun at a parade and there were at least a dozen Koishis spread around.

Most of it wasn't Touhou, just me running down hallways trying to escape an amazingly athletic fat man armed with a revolver and four-sided shurikens, nothing special. But by the end of it, a few seconds before waking up, I saw Reimu leaning against a wall talking to some guy in a black Japanese school uniform. Before I could do anything my phone alarm snapped me out of it and I instantly bolted towards my computer to immortalise my experience.

The second one was involving me in a normal day, at my computer, playing Devil of Decline. This was after over 20 attempts at trying to beat the boss of the first stratum. For some reason, her AI was playing up and she just kept spamming regular attacks on my tank, then time accelerated to the point where she was two turns from being defeated, I felt my heart racing, I was screaming in joy, just as the final turn was animating before my eyes, my phone one again ruins the moment... I didn't have to write this one down to remember it...

The third and probably the most embarrassing one, was a lucid dream...

I am extremely prone to lucid dreaming and/or sleep paralysis when I fall asleep sprawled out and flat on my back. I black out for a second and see Marisa, on my bed, on all fours above me, giving me some kind of blank stare, I am well aware of who she is, I even took the time to run the check-list through my head, Black and white dress, hat and blonde hair, I even checked for the braid on the right side of her hair. She begins crawling up the bed towards me, I swear I could feel the fabric of her skirt brushing against me as she did, I couldn't move, I was able to move my eyes around but that was it. Before I could figure out what's going on, her head is just above mine, still giving me that same stare. I wanted to say something or at least move, but nope, sleep paralysis. Then she leaned forward, she was kissing me, I felt something moving around INSIDE MY MOUTH mother of mercy it was one hell of a kiss.
despite never having a girlfriend to know what a real one feels like :x
At this point I was screaming at myself not to wake up, a minute passed a reality came and slapped me across the face. I instantly exploded out of my bed, I looked around, I even felt around my face with my hand, it felt so real... The part that blows my mind to this day is... I've had that same lucid dream three times now, and each time lasts longer... :blush:

I walked inside a shed in some grassy feild to find several characters, the Minoroko sisters and Kogasa, splattered dead with blood scattered across the floor without any clothes on. Aki was holding a book called 'The Final Symposium of Post Mysticism'. It was amazing because of how my dream created stunning graphics like that of a modern 3D RPG. The girls looked like they were designed with the same style as from the Final Fantasy. The scenery was amzing too. With buetious fields and flowers. The blood part was gross though...

In any case, the first actually occurred before ZUN even made HRtP (I guess I am dating myself here)!! I was a child and dreamed that I was in Eintei and befriended Kaguya-Hime. I knew of her from Big Bird Goes to Japan and I think Big Bird was there. But I remember an actual mansion and a vast bamboo forest as well as a full moon in the sky. Also, something NOT mentioned at all in that movie, I was served this milky silvery drink... Three guesses as to what the next three tastes were of. It certainly explains why I still look like a teenager despite being in my late 20's. My voice sounds like I barely hit puberty at all. Also, that corridor in stage 6 of IN gave me the chills since it looked familiar.

Next brings context for later dreams but is not Touhou itself directly.

I was having a series of dreams that involved various themes on physics and stellar processes, including at one point holding a singularity in my hand. This culminated in a dream where I had to set aside my fears and take a plunge deep into the core of a star. I knew the purpose of this, it was so I could absorb its power of nuclear fusion. As I entered the core I could feel the fusing atoms all around me and that power became my own. As I emerged from the star it felt like something important had become integrated in me. Anyone who played SA knows where this is going... and this was before I knew about SA at all.

Not a dream, but it should be noted that I usually identify with falcons but for some reason throughout the years ravens had this strange pull over me. Ironically I could never realistically imitate a falcon but I could PERFECTLY caw like a raven. Go figure... Plus an obsession with nukes dating back to wee childhood... plus that book grandpa gave me on stars. It has since been lost but I now realize it is like a grimoire to me now. For some reason I would constantly re-read the sections detailing the various fusions that take place in a star. The Proton-Proton Chain, the CNO Cycle, the various stages of fuel a star burns before reaching iron and going supernova. Somehow I was able to understand the concepts even if not the math, even as a child.

The next dream is sort of a culmination. It is a winding journey through various places and included Jessica Rabbit trying to tempt me, but then at the very end of the dream I became lucid. AT this point I saw the one I finally realized was truly the one for me, beloved Utsuho Reiuji. As I embraced her a celebration started to take place. We began moving through this outdoor celebration and it became night, then it went nonsensical and we bumped into this trawler thing and woke up. I must say that I felt a sense of wholeness as I held her.

The next Touhou related dream I was drafted and at processing we were made to do this obstacle course and I just finished a nasty obstacle... Then Okuu and Orin showed up. Naturally I was NOT about to let them do it all by themselves, Orin went right through (cat agility) but Okuu's wings were an issue underwater (there was a PAINFUL underwater section). Naturally I helped her out, not caring that I had to go through a liquid Hell ALL OVER AGAIN. But alas, I would do anything for her. The next part was because I watched a play of Touhouvania II, but anyhow Okuu vanished and I got all crazy trying to find her, going through a desert that had the clocktower parts all over inside of a Bowser's Castle type of place. Randomly Wario was there and eventually I end up in the back yard of my house in the tool shed and finally reach Okuu again. I could feel wakefulness coming but managed to somehow embrace Okuu one last time before awakening. It was really sad waking up since every time I held her in that dream I could feel that same sense of wholeness.

Seeking to find her again I have made attempts at lucid dreaming my way into Gensokyo for months. I finally had an almost successful attempt when I was in a state between wakefulness and sleep. Suddenly the phrase "Border of Wakefulness and Sleep" popped in my mind for some reason and Necrofantasia played in the background. I actually saw the mountains of Gensokyo behind a barrier as I passed through this dark corridor. Then suddenly things got dark and I saw what looked to be Koishi's danmaku. After this I woke up after some strange imagery that was completely random (random cubicle, WTF?) anyhow I was totally frustrated by that. I figure Koishi must have misunderstood the intents in my subconscious and reacted presumably to protect Okuu.

Next is seemingly out of context except maybe the plot reasons in SA. I was in this car wash place then went into a diner, and Kanako, Sanae, and Suwako were there. I sat at the table Kanako was sitting at across from her, and Suwako jumped on the seat next to me and Sanae was being her usual self. I jokingly said I would like to be part of the Moriya conspiracy and Kanako just smiled. And of course, I woke up with nothing else really happening.

The last thing Touhou related was a brief Reimu sighting in my house before a bunch of other random imagery. I was lucid and just practicing dream control and nothing really Touhou related other than my long term goals involving Okuu... part of this practice included going outside and causing nuclear explosions... go figure.

Not sure if this counts or not, but I did later have a dream once I got a better grasp of what Okuu means to me, namely being my anima. I had a dream where I was in this boxing/fighting training place and I was in this ring, when weighed in I was considerably heavier than I really am (I jokingly attributed it to my wings). Even though I was not actually lucid I knew I had these wings and they were the same wings Okuu has and I even had the cape. When I finally got to fight it was a bunch of guys in rapid succession and I beat them all before waking away the champion and waking up.

It seems my love for Okuu is not your typical crush...

I only remember like a simple conversion but it was so powerful I was happy the whole day. It could be Touhou related but I'm not really sure but all I know is if I had dreams like that more often my life would be more better. Gives me something to foward before I go to sleep I guess.

Guess who was at Mystia and Kyouko's (The Echoing Song's) first concert in Gensokyo? :D

They were backed up by the Prismriver Sisters and Sanae was on the drums. Quite a number of Gensokyo's major players were there, even the crew from the Underground much to Suika's delight as she and Yuugi moshed in the sky and inadvertently provided spectacular light works for the show. The concert was at the Garden of the Sun, and Yuuka was actually enjoying the music and light show.

The odd thing was that I was a sort of spirit and while I was invisible to everyone, Yuyuko and Yukari could see me...it was a little scary but they were pretty gentle. So I really got into the music and I even found myself flying between Yuugi and Suika's display, it turned out that the two of them could see me as well and they were happy that someone joined them even if I couldn't shoot back. I remember laughing and bobbing my head as weaved in between the shots, finding patterns until I was shot out and fell down only to have Yukari gapping me to her side and Yuyuko's, for the rest of the concert I sat by them and even got Yuyuko to head bang with me much to Youmu's embarrassment.

Gods it was epic.

I met some of you on this forum in the dream and we all had fun at the Touhou photoshoot. Some guy brought in amazing laser-ropes (some kind of weird rope with lasers coming out of it...) and then I woke up :D

Probably I foresaw a future event? :) Dunno, since I'm not sure if I'll attend AUSA, but if I do, hope I see you there XD

I do remember a few weeks back, I dreamed I was in an elevator that broke, which resulted in me being stuck basement-level in a building that didn't have a basement, probably a hotel or something. Unrelated stuff was going on prior to this. Mokou, as she at some point got in the elevator with me, helped pull me out, not that I couldn't have climbed. Yamaxanadu was there too, floating above the collapsed floor apathetically... Well, thanks for helping, Mokou.

Then I had one with Marisa in it a few days after that that probably isn't worth bringing up, mostly because it may not have been Marisa (definite it was a Touhou) and I can't remember whatever whoever it was was doing, if anything. Maybe I should start writing these down... :derp:

I remember I was listening to Touhou music ambiently as I slept (through the night - not great if you want to actually sleep well, but enjoyable when you're on the border of asleep and awake) those two nights, which obviously constitutes a scientific correlation. There wasn't any Fate of Sixty Years or Immortal smoke in that mix though, oddly enough...

Anyways I just walked past and entered some nearby classroom. In it was Reimu and some strange cancelling youkai. It tried to cancel us but did not work because Reimu was integral to Gensokyo and I had unfinished business... Which took the form of me becoming lucid and finding Okuu in the room. This was something I had planned while awake for the next time I should see her so the rest is kinda arranged but still meaningful. I fused with her. I embraced her and could actually feel her, and I could actually feel as we began to meld into each other. It was pure bliss, could feel the third eye in her chest as if it were my own and we just melded into each other, and that was it. It had a state of pure bliss. I am one with Okuu.

Bonus points for it occurring during the summer solstice given the solar meanings behind Okuu.

My phone started ringing and, considering my remark to the effect of "well, what a surprise!", I was expecting the call. It was Reimu and she only called to tell me it's time to leave. My answer was "we're way ahead of you". Anyway, the place where you leave Gensokyo was some kind of a wooden shack. I don't remember much else because, rather appropriately, I woke up soon after reaching it.

That sure does sound a bit like Yukari, that is pretty neat how you were vaporizing bullets with power like that. Might be asking a bit much, but I'm a bit curious what sort of spellcards she was using, if any.

Possibly a toned down border of life and death (all violet projectiles), maybe Danmaku Bounded Field, and a non-spell with just purple projectiles going everywhere. For my in-bed dreams, they almost always feature Marisa, with the other slight bit being about Maribel. Dreams of the former are almost always NSFW, and dreams of the latter usually put me in an insanely good mood for the next coupla' hours. Only because dreams with Maribel consist of many good ends dropping here and there making me happyfaec.

In class, it's usually me not knowing I fell asleep because I dream of me in class having lessons per usual. And I wake up whenever I turn around and see Yukarin poking me.

I am completely`serious about this and I have been sleeping more and more in class and I don't even realize it, man. The teachers don't wake me up and stuff, and my classmates to be honest, don't give a damn.

Herp YJ successfully went into Gensokyo?

Post by: DeltaSierra4 on July 05, 2012, 02:39:43 AM: OK, it seems that my strong desire to go back to the States to join some friends on anime conventions has resulted in a spate of Touhou related dreams recently (My id... Thank you Koishi). Here are some recent ones:

1. I was playing some kind of game on my Xbox again, just like last time, but this time, the game is some kind of crossover between Max Payne 2 and Saints Row 3 (yeah, it was kind of weird). I was on my final storyline mission where I had to save this girl trapped inside a factory occupied by some powerful dude's private army. There are bombs planted everywhere in the factory, so I have to watch out for them. I attempted to clear the mission without looking at any walkthroughs or cheats, but I was only able to get to the bad ending... (which was basically me killing the powerful dude and the factory blowing up - the girl gets killed and I survive the explosion) Frustrated at my failure, I decided to get some help from a walkrthrough which shows me that this mission has some kind of trick in it - basically I had to crawl through some kind of air vent and move around to deactivate the bombs. I manage to deactivate all the bombs and, just as I was about to reach the good ending, I get cornered by the entire army.

The Touhou part of this dream? Well, at that decisive moment when I was trapped in a room by the army, I mucked around with the cellphone function in the game. Out of the long "contact list" I had, I looked up some familiar names... There was Reimu, Yukari Yakumo, and for some reason Packie McReary from GTA 4. I called up Reimu, and she promised to plant some heavy weaponry and satchel charges somewhere in the factory for my use. The most memorable was her closing sentence: "There are no incidents out there that cannot be resolved without some help from extra firepower and heavy weapons." :V :V :V

2. This time I was reading some book with occasional illustrations of the scene described, kind of like SoPM in terms of the art. I don't recall the title or the author of the book, but the storyline was basically about the period after Gensokyo ended a long time ago (I assumed that it meant a long time after ZUN stopped creating Touhou games). There are these two guys who are in search of "a Youkai of harshness who can bring hope". The book goes on to speak about how all the youkai have disappeared from the surface of earth, there is no magic, and "all of Gensokyo is lost", but the two guys believe that "not all is lost from Gensokyo". They believe that there is this one surviving youkai who can re-create Gensokyo and "resurrect the powers that kept it be".

Reading through the book, it turns out that the youkai they're looking for is Yuuka Kazami. In a scene where the guys are detained and questioned by police, they answer that they are in search for "the flower master of the four seasons". The guys eventually manage to escape from the police, and, as they wander through some meadow in the middle of a night, they see "someone standing amidst the tall grass with a parasol". The guys get excited and run towards the person, who is nobody else but their most wanted Yuuka. The illustration on the next page shows Yuuka running away from the two guys while weeping. Yuuka screams out "Leave me alone! Leave me alone! I don't want anybody to look for me anymore! I am a disgrace and I deserve to die a bitter death!" Exhausted, the guys give up on the chase and see her disappear from their sights.

So Yuuka wasn't the homicidal maniac after all?! Aww that does fit her better :D

In fact, I've already started planning out a storyline based on my dream. I'm in the middle of writing several other stories atm so when I get one of them done I could start writing this one. Yeah, I remember how I myself felt quite sad when the story ended (or at least my dream ended... I've a feeling that the story might've continued on) at that point.

The sightseeing was pretty uneventful, and eventually the balloons started to give.
I wandered around on foot and stumbled across a school of sorts that I had apparently been to before.
Inside, Byakuren was teaching the basics of Buddhism.
There was a map of...somewhere, possibly Gensokyo on the wall, the blackboard was filled gibberish, and one of the requirements to pass the class was to be able to balance on a turtle's back.

It almost seemed like Byakuren was subbing for Keine or something.
Even though the signs and whatnot were in Japanese, everyone was able to speak perfect English.

Then I moved us out of the way and she master sparked them. I cannot tell for sure, even though I could remember I was not actually lucid during the dream, but it appears that I might have dreamed this as Okuu rather than myself.

Edit: Yet another odd dream. I dreamed there were pilots flying around the house looking for a target. It was a UFO and they were incompetent on engaging (I was in radio contact with them). So I turned into Okuu and fought the UFO that had Byakuren and Nue and won an epic spellcard duel with Megaflare.

I really hope the dreams people had about no more Touhou do not come true. Would really suck to not see anymore official games. This will not stop others from trying to become ZUN's successor should that happen. Fan games will continue unabated. It is no longer in ZUN's hands, he has the strongest influence but is ultimately only one of many in the fandom.

We had the advantage of being able to fly, and Suwako crashed into a wall... No idea why, but she was okay.
I don't remember many of the details, but my team got up to the second checkpoint in the race when Suwako decided that we should go back, so we did. On the way back we passed a bunch of onbashiras and Kanako was staring at us like we were some kind of weirdos, but that's not important.

And I don't remember the rest of that dream...

There was another dream I had where I was hanging out with Kanako, Sanae and Suwako. (I seem to dream about the Moriya Shrine people a lot)
Kanako and Sanae were talking about fruit cakes (again I don't know why), and Suwako was trying to build a house out of colorful palm fronds. I was asking her why she was doing that, and she said she was bored. Halfway through building it, Suwako started to panic, saying that she's gotta keep building or the frogs won't have a place to hibernate. Sanae was trying to comfort her, and I don't know where Kanako went.

And thats all I remember.

No idea what the dreams mean, but they were... interesting yet strange to say the least.

If it helps, I remember a dream that fortold the end of Touhou when 13 released. That's the tricky thing about dreams, it's very hard to tell if there's something with meaning between random 'line noise'. If it's recurring or others have the same exact dream, then there might be something to be concerned of.

Or maybe it's just a bunch of us worried about the same thing, and that same anxiety simply being portrayed in our dreams. Even if we don't want to think about the "end of Touhou" too much, what feelings we have about the coming end (it could be sad, annoying, but certainly not happy) would still remain in our subconscious (thank you Koishi) and that's what appears in our dreams.

One more thing to add about my dream of "the end of Touhou": In the dream I remember hearing about ZUN quitting Touhou through some TV news report. There were reporters everywhere at Comiket 82 interviewing ZUN, who looked pretty sad in the camera and was speaking with a very solemn tone, saying that he was never planning to return to Touhou. I remember cussing out loud and woke up, then realized that I was cussing in my sleep. Glad to know that I didn't wake anyone up with my loud cussing :X

They asked me to join them, and I went to the right side of the group, kneeling down next to Parsee.

I'd be more than happy to help and contribute. I keep a dream journal and there are probably a few more Touhou dreams buried in there somewhere. GoogleDocs would work great so we could all access it.

I wonder if it's real or if my subconscious got screwed. :V

I entered a building that had a bright, large, well-maintained church feel to it without being a church. Byakuren greeted me with her standard bright, sagacious smile. She was dressed in a sweater and slacks and was several inches taller than I was. She gave me a warm hug and led me to another room that was filled with my classmates from high school. They were mostly my friends, but the crowd was made up from a bunch of others whose company I had enjoyed. Then we went outside into a bright spring day and walked along a walkway covered in blossom petals from the trees that lined it and we participated in a parade.

Although, the only songs I can remember playing were Phantom Ensemble (Pretty sure it was the PoFV Mix) and some sort of ensemble arrangement of the 3rd movement of Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata where the melody bounces around to each person/poltergeist. Pretty fun.

Another one I remember was some sort of 6-way dogfight with Me, Marisa, Nitori, Patchouli, Kyouko and for some reason Daiyousei. Apparently Marisa stole a bookshelf from Patchy's library (Don't ask me how.) causing Patchouli to rampage and accidently Royal Flare one of Nitori's newest inventions, which caused some golf club Kyouko was testing out to melt (Yeah, I don't know.) and make her get angry. Then me and Daiyousei were caught in the middle. I don't remember the details of the fight, but i'm pretty sure me and Nitori teamed up and won eventually.

Yeah, I have pretty weird dreams.

Lyrica: He was asking for it.
(A short pause, Lyrica points at Merlin and Cirno and laughs at both of them, but no sound came out of her mouth.)

tl;dr Completely random, something about getting a knife out of a mouth with a single French fry, and a strange as hell laugh. I don't know what the hell, maybe they were at Reimu burger.

When I woke up the first thing I did was grab a sheet of paper and a pencil so I could write down what I remember.

It starts like this:

Komachi starts to sail across some random river on her boat, and Miko and her crew were sailing across the same river on Futo's boat. They tell me to follow, and at first I try to wade into the water, but I remembered that I was wearing jeans so I decided against it. One of them (I think it was Futo) yells at me to freeze the water. Somehow I freeze part of the river into a bridge with magics, but I mess up and accidentally make one side bigger than the other. After I spend a few minutes being a ⑨, I fix the bridge so that its even and I cross the river. On the other side of the bridge, Miko and her crew start to head off through some pathways through the woods. Komachi disappeared, and I start to follow Miko's crew. I was walking next to Futo and I started to talk to her. The conversation went something like this:

Futo: So how come you're following us? I thought you didn't like us?
Me: What are you talking about? That's nonsense, I think you guys are awesome.

(a minor detail, but while we were talking, Futo was holding a cellphone behind her back and was texting... yeah I don't understand that)

Futo goes quiet after that and we continue walking. At some point, some of my friends in real life (as well as Koakuma) join us and we make it to some sort of cathedral-looking building. Everyone sits at the front and Miko stands in front of everyone and announces that we were in the Divine Spirit Mausoleum. (Again, what?) Miko waves the stick that she carries and all the curtains open, lighting the place up. Someone in the group mutters, "Damn curtains." Everyone gets their lunches out and starts eating while Bad Apple plays in the background. I whisper to Koakuma, "This place isn't so creepy now that the creepy music from earlier isn't playing." (the creepy music would be a distorted version of Legend of the Great Gods). Suddenly the curtains magically shut themselves and everything becomes dark. All my friends start to panic, but for some reason, I keep my cool. Futo disappeared and then the place starts being haunted or something. (I don't remember this part really well) I think I used some magic or whatever to stop the haunting, and when I did that, Futo reappeared. She was on her knees and staring at the floor, looking depressed. She got to her feet and ran away without saying anything to the rest of us.

Miko apparently figured out what happened really fast, so she explained what was going on. She explained to everyone that Futo was somehow possessed by an evil force and started to cause trouble. Then I ask her why Futo ran away, and Miko thinks for a second.

(Then my dream gets some kind of a flashback sequence that shows Futo and Miko talking)

Miko explained to everyone that Futo was worried that something might go wrong at the cathedral-building, so she made a fail-safe using her feng shui powers. Apparently it did something when you ate it. (I don't really know what the fail-safe thing was... it just looked round and purple)

I asked Miko what the fail-safe did, and she sends me this look that said, "It will kill you." So whilst I stare with a shocked look on my face, Miko faces everyone in the crowd and says, "Mount your horses everyone. We're going on a rescue mission."

And then I woke up. I like to think that everyone got on some horses and went on an epic adventure and rescued Futo.

A few other notes that I don't think I explained.

1. Playing Touhou 14. Apparently it looks like a sequel to Subterranean Animism. The second stage theme song was oddly similar to Maiden's Capriccio ~ Dream Battle (oh indeed it was a battle in a dream :3) and I can only remember the English part of the title: Subterranean Chaos. I don't remember the details about the stage midbosses and bosses.

2. Watching Persona 4 Animation in my dream and Reimu comes in humming to her theme song. She recommends me watching another anime and hands over her USB to me. It was some kind of gruesome anime about how kids in school can use magic and are controlled by one bully in school. I was about to tell Reimu I didn't like the show... and that's pretty much where the dream ended.

3. Playing Touhou 14 AGAIN (a separate dream from #1). Dodging danmaku from what apparently looks like Yamame and Parsee together, and firing lasers at me. Weird thing was, the hitbox of the bosses were marked, just like the focused movement of Reimu. At one point, I got hit by like 4 lasers and I didn't die. "Oh ho! Another one going up on Lucky Touhou Dodges thread tonight!" I said to myself, and the dream ended...

My two cents on this - the most important thing to do is to sleep.

Aside from that, I find dreams easier to remember when I wake up early in the morning and go back to sleep immediately afterwards. By "immediately" I mean, "while still groggy". Not "after getting a glass of water and slipping back under the covers". You're already too awake by then.

Can't say I've ever had any Touhou-related dreams, really. But I do tend to skip the most important step a lot (yes, I brought that up for a reason :) ) so I don't dream all that often. A few sporadic hour-long naps through the day are hardly enough to really hit REM sleep. >_>

Long story short, the NSFW part is basically me being abusive to Reimu.
Now, onto the non-NSFW part. A supine Reimu grins at me and asks me "I hear that you really really hate me in the real world. Is that true?" Well, it's true that I have some degree of dislike towards her, so I replied "Yeah, well I don't really like you..." and she grins at me silently like Yuyuko does often, and I kept going on "Well, I do dislike you but let's just put that aside for now." Reimu agrees to that, and she changes to a sitting position, when the dream ended there abruptly.

The group split into teams to look for something and I ended up partnered with Sakuya (who was in her TouhouVania outfit). We were walking down a road in a sparse forest and encountering monsters along the way. I ended up with a quarterstaff and vividly remember bashing gnolls over the head with it while Sakuya ran around doing her thing. A few party members later (whom I can't remember), about a dozen more random encounters and I just woke up... It was a pretty fun dream. Ironically came after reading this thread and thinking "Damn it, I don't have enough Touhou dreams!"

Its hitbox was as big as its sprite when unfocused. The giraffe had twin, widely spread lasers as its shot; the lasers went straight when unfocused and exhibited completely unpredictable behavior when focused. All in all, still an easier character to use than solo Alice.

Aya and Hayate attempt to troll each other into doing something banworthy in GBS/D&D while Momiji just hangs around in Goons in Platoons and complains about how her post involves babysitting/cooperating with a flighty dumbass photographer. :getdown:

Reimu, Marisa, Reisen, and Eirin were all playable characters, but were all flying on broomsticks. Patchouli had apparently fallen ill, so at the last minute she was replaced as midboss by Cirno.

Well, it seems like there was this Incident in Gensokyo..but it didn't look like Gensokyo. The area we was in, looked like one of those old western cowboy vs cops towns. I was suposedly Remilia Scarlet's body guard or what not. She's just there chilling, drinking her tea. Then all of a sudden Reimu, Marissa, and some other character came in cloaks like the Akatsuki from Naruto, and almost attacked her. but I jumped in front of Remilia and absorbed all the attacks. Dunno where the hell Saluya was..but I ended up with Flandre chasing both Reimu and Marissa in the sky.. they were leaving a rainbow type trailblaze as we were chasing them..

When we finally got up to them, dunno where Flandre dissapeared to, but I was caught in a web like thing, and couldn't get out. Kanako helped me out of the web, and put me on the rooftop with these 3 girls each with a different colored hair. They weren't Touhou characters, but very cute Anime type characters. They told me stuff like "I can do it" "we believe in you".

That's basically all I remembered, dunno wth happened to Remilia, but for some reason when I woke up, my heart was beating fast..it made me grew to like Reimu, and Kanako. I wish If I ccan go back into this dream, and continue it, because everything was awesome, and it was in color. so you know that rainbow road i was folowwing was sweet. Specially cause I was flying with Flandre. Oh well.

This is my first post on this site. longest first post I've ever made.

Then he began to teach me how to play Imperishable Night, and I didn't knew how to tell him I'm familiar to Touhou. Later, we went to a convention and I was extremely jealous of a Satori cosplayer singing and ran off.

I wish my dreams were more fun.

I'm not sure why or what happened, in fact, the dialogue between me and someone at any point and time I have NO IDEA what was said, but it isn't really important. Me, Marisa, Aya, and Momiji were at a pool, by that I mean one of those in-ground public pool things. Before going in some things were said and I patted Momiji on the head for whatever reason, I don't know. I also don't remember swimming at all, but afterwards I got out earlier than the rest so I could sneak around to the girls change room (not for what you think). I did this to scare Momiji for fun, but when I got there the door was open and I could hear Momiji and Aya arguing over something. I couldn't tell what, but Momiji came out still wearing her swimwear soaking wet and kinda sad. I asked her what's wrong and she said, "nothing, really". Then I asked if Aya was teasing her again and she looked at me shocked as if I was right on, but just said, "not exactly". Then we just walked away.

I don't remember what happened after, but then I was in a house of sorts lying on a bed. Soon someone with black hair waked into the room and pinned herself over top of me and kissed me on the cheek telling me she loved me. I took a closer look and noticed it was Aya, trying to seduce me. I was confused, obviously, and said something, not sure what, and moved her to the side looking for Momiji. I looked everywhere in the house and was about to run out the door to look when I saw Aya standing at the corner again with tears in her eyes. She uttered the words, "I'm glad." I was even more confused and just kinda went, "...what?" Then she took her HAIR off (it was a wig) revealing it was actually Momiji. She collapsed to her knees crying, and, well, I hugged her.

It did take place in Gensokyo, from what I could tell, but most of my dreams don't take place in Gensokyo when I have them. For whatever reason a character or two will appear randomly within a dream. As you may have noticed, I didn't remember a lot, but that's normal for me ;^^ I don't think I've EVER had a NSFW dream... Key word "THINK"...

Anyway, had a dream that can only be summarized as 'Myouren Temple Shenanigans', except it took place at my church. Can't remember many details.

My dream took place within a theater, something like those things where people watch plays or orchestras. It was actually quite quick as when my dream started, the performance was already complete and people were leaving already. I made my way past some people and I saw Marisa, though she wasn't wearing her witch attire and instead, some sort of blue-dress. No words were spoken and we hugged each other.

A little while later, I went down past more seats and met Alice, who was wearing her usual attire and looked a little older. I can't remember most of the conversation except for one part where she asked me, "Where's Reimu?" and somehow it took place in an AU because I simply replied, "She's Muslim." (?!) After a short while, a kid ran up to her holding an empty mug. He said something about his brother eating all the food and that they had no more. Alice broke down and began to cry. Then the strange part comes. I offered her my golden heart (Literally). She stared at me as Iopened my chest and gave her a gold heart. After she took it from me, I fell down immediately and begun to vomit out nuts and bolts. (I came up with a realization that I was one of her puppets and that I was helping her with giving her my life.)

Then my dream ended. :V I don't even know what this means anymore.

I eventually ended up where there were a bunch of scrolls or papers and apparently I ran into Aya since it was the Tengu villiage and something had something to do with Lord Tenma or some such. After meeting Aya it was safe for work but yeah, we started hugging and kissing, then I woke up.

Everywhere I go Aya is there...

There was one years ago involving Remilia eating a house of people and me plus that of some other folks had to escape. Only two (out of six) made it out alive. The dream ended with me and this little girl torching Remilia with dual flamethrowers. Strangely enough, Sakuya was nowhere to be found during the entire ordeal.

I remember another dream was centered around Miko but, I only remember a short encounter of her and that's it.

She tore off my leg and started to eat it, and we talked for a long time about various things while she ate my leg. My leg grew back after a while, and I left. I didn't notice, but Flandre turned into a bat and sat on my head for the rest of the dream.

Rika's Evil Eye Sigma showed up and blew up half the school, and nobody was going to fight her. So I went to find a turtle to ride on, but he only one was Genji and he wouldn't let anyone but Reimu ride him. So I flipped him upside down and sat on him, then rode up into the sky with Mima, Shinki, and Daiyousei to punch Evil Eye Sigma in the eye.

Then Evil Eye Sigma turned into Zero Two from Kirby 64, and I woke up.

I was in Higan, which was quite beautiful by the way, and Shikieiki was with Komachi. The Yama proceeded to tell me that her and Komachi were sisters. If that wasn't enough, I turned around and standing there were Momiji and Kyouko. Kyouko said, "We're not married, we're just sisters, geez!"

Then I woke up. I think I have a certain post in the "What if..." thread to thank for this dream... (Referring to the "What if Komachi and Shikieiki were sisters"). The latter half, that just comes out of nowhere apparently.

It was a normal school day, where the class is lit pretty bright by the morning sun, yukari appears, and spirited me to gensokyo (I remember her saying some thing, but it was so vague i can't remember the detail). Then the rest is just that : I got to live in some kind of old village, learns danmaku, have a few battle with reimu and marisa and other character, I remember having some water spells up my arsenal. Then it goes random as I feel like I'm flying in rainbow course, then it went dark, and I woke up.
It can be classified as a lucid dream, i don't know. It just what my heart desire (I think), and I daydream about this a lot, then one night, it just occurred. I don't have complete control of the dream, but I can sure expect a plot line and it happens, although it's not very precise and in detail.

The most memorable one was the 3rd stage boss, with the power to manipulate powers :V

At least a more recent dream I got to see her very much OK with Youmu. I think the sad dream was somehow taking place when she was alive on her last day.

I called Eirin, who came in 5 minutes, to inspect Youmu's wound. She bandaged it and said it would heal by itself in 5 days and that during that period, Youmu should neither do any extensive walking nor running. After saying that, we said thanks and she walked off.

Not the most exciting dream ever, in my opinion, but oh well.
