>You don't think you could get the edge of your rebar into it, but you had considered prying it out with your knife beforehand, then decided you weren't that desperate for it. You're not sure if it could work.  Hitting it with the rebar might do it, but also would probably damage it.

>"Oh, okay," she says.
>You make your way out through the other tunnel. "Take care!" the faerie calls as you leave. The corridor is fairly similar to the one you were just in, uneven and rocky. The ceiling is fairly low, stooping down to around five feet or so. Up head, you can see the tunnel branch into two paths, one leading ahead to the south and the other branching southeast. You think you can hear flowing water to the south.

> Water, eh?  Check it out.

>You continue southward. The tunnel begins to make a noticeable decline, taking you deeper into the earth as you progress. That and the rough nature of the would make it very unpleasant to trip here; were you capable of tripping normally.  The sound of flowing water is unmistakable, and as the tunnel levels out to an end, you see a narrow fast-flowing stream cutting across the floor. The water is clean and swift, a few inches deep. You note that it is flowing toward the northwest, emerging from a small channel in the eastern wall and flowing through another one to the east, following a slant in the floor.  The floor and lower parts of the walls near the stream, as well as the stream bed, as host to a variety of mosses and lichens.

>The underground seem to have much interest in being that dark. Perhaps a little dingy, but even the likes of that shrine maiden and black magician could see when they came through here. You suspect this has something to do with the presence of Former Hell, but you're not sure. On top of this, Youkai tend not to have a problem with low light situations.

It is incredibly unlikely that any sort of shipping will happen, too, so make sure you stick around.

> Head back north up to the most recent fork, then take the southeastern tunnel.

>You backtrack and take the Southeastern tunnel.  It too is fairly uneven with a low ceiling at first, but it slowly rises as you move onward. An earthy smell lingers in the air. You note an abnormal number of insects crawling on the walls; useful to note if you ever get you hands on something to fish with. Soon the floor begins to show traces of mud, and walls widen into a oval chamber. A few stalactites hang from the ceiling, while the floor is covered in mud and thick growths various pale plants. You quickly note a few edibles ones, and also note there are a lot of insects here crawling in the dirt and on the plantlife. You have a feeling that some part of the stream you saw earlier runs underneath this chamber. You note another small tunnel nearby, which leads northeast.  Obvious exits are North and Northeast.

>You are pretty sure it does.
>You look around, and note a few edible plants. You see a few thin-leafed herbs that can function as spices.  You see a couple of stalks belonging to what is typically called cave wheat. In particularly, they have seed pods along their stems that are edible, or can be better used by grinding them into flour.  You also note a couple of small things with thick leaf that be tossed into a stew effectively. You think you catch sight of some small apple-sized gourds with rather sweet paste inside them, poking out among some weeds.

>You don't know if Yamame knows about this place, but it wouldn't surprise you if she did.
>You head into the cavern, and collect a couple of apple gourds, a stalk of cave wheat, and a few leaves from a herb known as a Kasha bush for it's rounded, paw-like leaves. You are careful not to take too much, so that it will regrow faster. As you root around the foliage, you also note a few immature underground soybean plants. It will be some months before they're ready to harvest.
>You obtain: Apple Gourd x2
>You obtain: Stalk of Cave Wheat
>You obtain: Kasha Paw Leaves x5
>Between this and the mushrooms, you could probably make a nice stew and have enough left over for another meal later on. Or you could stuff yourself with this and have enough for a decent snack later.
