>How often do obvious signs of fairy habitation like this come and go, though?

>It varies from time to time. Some faeries live openly like this and move when they feel like it. Others, you can only imagine how they've hidden themselves away.

>"Oh, that's tricky!" she says. "Okay! It's not near the big hole with the mushrooms, and it's not near the little river that goes into the big river and it's not near the dirt room."
>You're not too sure about most of what she is referencing, you suspect the 'dirt room' would refer to a place where the floor has some actual soil. Those sorts of places are highly prized, soil is means things can be grown there. You also imagine the little river is probably some tributary that feeds into the main one that runs past the Ancient City. The big hole with the mushrooms could mean a few places, but if you're right, the ravine chamber should still be the north...

>You cannot immediately think of any real occurrence of all of those things together that would be connected. But you are also largely outside your own area of familiarity where you are now.

> Then let's work off the one we had the least immediate idea about. What dirt patches are we aware of?

>There are a few of them scattered around the underground. The largest one is along the river's banks. You're reasonably certain there's some kind of reasons for where and how they come to be, but you have no idea what they are, nor does anyone else seem too.  Thinking on them, none are near anything you'd consider a hole with mushrooms.
