> Nom on a mushroom on the go.

>You had just come from the east, but it's easy to lose one's orientation underground.
>It is a simple matter to float over the water and the pockmarked floor. You take out one of the mushrooms and nibble on it as you do, finding it dry and fairly mild. These roast well, but you'd need some kind of butter or oil to do it with. As you draw near the opposite side of the chamber, you can hear noises noises ahead; the sound of loose stone being shifted around. The tunnel you are about to enter has a fair amount of that...

> Put a hand on our knife, just in case.
> Float on over into the tunnel.

>You put your hand on your knife, just in case some measure of shanking is required in the near future, and float into the tunnel.
>This tunnel is about fifteen feet wide, and the ceiling a bit less than half that height. The floor slopes erratically downward, sometimes leveling our or making brief tilts upward. Loose stones of all sizes cover a significant potions of the floor, piled at the foot of the slopes and forming a treacherous carpet for anyone trying to walk across it. The ceiling seems fairly sturdy, but you wouldn't want to hit it too hard, lest more rocks rain on you. But as far as you know, no more stone has ever fallen from it. Obvious exists are west and east.
>Some ways ahead, you can see two rather large faeries in green and white dresses digging through the stone. One wears a bonnet, while the other has a mob cap; you think you can make out a set of canine ears on the latter's hat.

>You've never noticed it before.
>You head westward, trying to ignore the faeries. As you draw near them, you note that the one in the bonnet doesn't seem to be wearing any canine ears. The two of them are chattering away about some thing or another, you don't really catch it. As you gt close of them, the faerie in the bonnet, a slightly chubby one with red hair, looks over at you and cries "Hey! You're tresspasting!"

>You ponder if there is some kind of hideout here, but you find yourself doubting it. The bat cavern are the only thing nearby past here, and no one wants to be in there, unless they were born without a sense of smell or touch...
>"Let's get 'em!" the chubby faerie says.
>"We'll show 'em the real power of the Cobalt Legion!" the other faerie cries, as both take to the air and rush eastward.
>You proceed forward, floating over and around the piles of loose stone. The distinctive stench of bat guano fills the air, as the tunnel becomes more of a vertical shaft. Soon you can see the familiar floor of the bat tunnel corridor below.

>You don't live by a calender enough to know your exact age anymore, but you're pretty sure it's in the lower two hundreds.
>You've been underground most of your life.
>You descend to the tunnel below. The smell gets fairly strong as you do. Soon you find yourself in a decently narrow and smooth corridor with a high ceiling that conceals the shaft above. To the south, you can see it start to widen while the floor slopes downward more, as the tunnel gives way to the chamber where the bats dwell. To the north, it slopes upward toward the ceiling, it should start to descend past that and meet up with the tunnel to the surface, not too far from Yamame's home, or your earlier perch.

> If nothing unusual presents itself, head north with the goal of reaching the tunnel to the surface.

>You look around, and find nothing of interest. Places this close to the main tunnel probably wouldn't have them anyways, it's too easy to reach and clean out.
>You head northward, following the tunnel as it rises, then ascends until you come to a three-way juncture, shaped like a Y, the tunnel you just emerged from coming it at an angle to make the shape. To the south, the tunnel continues toward Yamame's chamber, while northward it continues toward where you were lurking beforehand and the Ancient City.
