Welcome, fellow guitarist. :justasplanned:
These are really nice. I look forward to seeing more from you.
-
Haha thanks i appreciate it. I was startin to think nobody liked acoustic music these days. Though i do dig some of the 8 bit music i found here. The Suwa Foughten Field 8 bit that was just posted is especially cool.

Finding that thread and then this thread back to back is just awesome. I'm looking forward to more stuff from both of you :*
My only major criticism is that it's pretty quiet and muffled, but I'm sure you knew that already. Still doesn't keep your skills from shining through, hehe.
-
Yeah i had been using an electric acoustic Ovation guitar without plugging it in, so for my next one ill either plug it up, or use a full body acoustic. Hope that helps with the sound clarity.
-
Nice to hear some... smoother music than those blaring Night of Night electric solos (no offense to those though) :D

Hey amigos, heres my latest stuff.

Haha i can barely navigate nico to watch videos, much less upload them :derp: Yeah sorry about the quality, but thanks for listenin. I actually did try to cover Diverse Systems Riverside View. Came out alright I reckon.

Then someone who knows how to use Nico upload it. Srsly.
EDIT: I just love how well that Suwa transitions. One moment it's a slow, calming melody, and the next it's the "DUN DUN" with a hint of Latin. Very nice.

I wouldn't mind if someone wanted to upload it. I only ask that if ya upload one of my covers like Last Remote, or Lunatic Princess, please credit the original arranger. And thankya im tryin to go for a mixture of Flamenco, Classical, And Celtic guitar XD Or rather i just haven't decided what to focus on in specific.

I say Flamenco. The feel is very unique.
-
Haha if only it were so easy :ohdear: I do love the sound and technique of Flamenco, but ya cant count out the others so easily. For instance, the technicality of classical guitar makes sure that I'm never bored learning a new song. And also i tend to like sleepy, lullabyish songs, so Celtic Fingerstyle lends itself well to making a soft sound. Also I play with my fingertips as opposed to nails, so my sound tends to lean in that direction anyway.
-
I don't know anything about guitar but I'm absolutely digging your work :* :* :*
-
Haha thank ya. Likewise with the clarinet stuff :D One of these days i wanna get around to making a multi instrument arrangement. Seems difficult to coordinate, so im glad the guitar is polyphonic XD
-
Man this weekend went by too fast... Well heres a new arrangement of Alice Maestra.
http://www.4shared.com/audio/YM1hfio8/Alice_Maesta.html
Enjoy~
Oh and also, hopefully ive managed to fix that volume problem thats been plaguein me.
-
Listening to you play the acoustic is making me...
I should play my acoustic again...
It's awesome, keep up the great work~
-
Haha ya totally should amigo. If ya do, lets jam on somthin sometime. Buuuut in the meantime im off to work. :X
-
That'd be pretty cool, but I better practice first...
I've been behind in guitar, because of summer assignments :ohdear:
And working on animation -__-

I assume this means you actually took another try at MIDI sequencing. I sure am glad you did, since I think that was really good. You could maybe have spread out that high part at around 40secs in a bit more along the frequency spectrum since for me it sounded a bit messy with two high instruments playing conflicting melodies, but that's just my opinion. Everything else about it was beautiful, though. I'd say definitely keep making these at least every now and then.
Although with competition like this, I really need to improve my own classical arranging skills soon. :V
-
Haha thankya Scepy, thats quite a compliment comin from you. Yes, despite piano roll being quite possibly the most tedious thing ive ever done, I took another shot at it XD And yup it also needs a better outro, so im sure ill continue to work on it.
Good luck with your own stuff as well~

Well, nothin fancy in this one. Heres a flamenco arrange of Faith is For The Transient People. Enjoy~

Sounds a bit too low...but you know, the part when Cherry Flavored comes in, it suddenly sounded like a Worship song.

Haha yep I rarely leave a song in the original key. And that's odd about the worship. Was goin for a campfire song.

I have no problem against the composition, but the recording sounds a little bit muffled.
Or maybe I've been listening to sampled soundfonts for too long. >.>
1:21 onwards is love. :3
1:47 onwards is love love. :3
2:23 - 2:58 plucking is good, but it would've been better if the plucking sound was filtered a little bit so it doesn't sound too pizzicato-ey.

Haha sorry, to be honest I dont know what im doing as far as the engineering part goes xD I just turn knobs until I think I get something that sounds half decent. Glad it wasn't too terrible though.
-
Wow, these arrangements are all so nice...
Kinda make me sleepy, though, because the ones I've listened to were all so relaxing.
**listens to Native Faith**
...OK, not so relaxing any more, but still awesome. :D

Sure amigo, was a bit fan of that doom metal contest entrance you put in. Have anything in mind?
-
I dunno, something rockin' with a couple acoustic breaks and some solos? There are so many songs to pick from, but I've been wanting to do an arrange of Last Remote.
My setup sounds a little better now too, new guitar, new drum vst and better bass sound (still don't own an actual bass guitar though :D shame!)
-
Hmmmm, well I actually haven't been able to record any acoustic stuff in a while for lack of a mic, but Sure Last Remote sounds great~ Let's see then, what genre of rock would ya like, and would you rather do rhythm or lead guitar? I'll get crackin on some samples.
-
Aw that's a shame, any chance you could record some acoustic later? Your acoustic stuff is definitely awesome :) I've yet to get really into acoustic.
I think I can crank out basic arrangement + rhythm gtr + drums + bass pretty quick.
Not sure on style, I'll have to think about it. Don't want to sound too much like the crow'sclaw arrangement, even if it is awesome. Maybe we can swap some ideas and go from there.
-
Yeah, I may be able to get some acoustic stuff somewhere down the line, just dunno when xD And thankya, glad ya like it =p
Alright brah, sounds like a plan. I should have some ideas recorded tomorrow, but lemme know if ya come up with anything in the meantime. By the way, what kind of guitar did you get?
-
Cool cool, I will try to get some stuff together during the week.
I got this beast:

Nicely done! Time to give my feedback...
There's quite a bit of clipping when looking at the waveforms with Audacity. This can be heard as a bit of noise on certain parts, especially in the guitar attack. I'd reduce the amp gain and maybe distortion levels as well, and then normalize it with a wave editor (Audacity being a good example).
I'd also suggest amplifying the bass a little more to better balance the EQ frequencies.

Amp up the bass, drag down the distortion, and normalize? Got it amigo. I was thinking of trying to model my amp to something similar to that Demetori/ UI-70 album The View of Spiral Riverside. So this may be a good excuse, we'l see~
-

Yeah. Just not too much with the bass parts - I liked the original tone, but too much bass will change it.
As for the amp modelling, that'd be nice to hear!
...though I'm not entirely sure with amps, personally. Though I compose with electric guitar parts very often, I don't actually play guitar, so I use sample-based software synthesizers and Logic's comprehensive Amp Simulation insert (along with Distortion and Overdrive) when working with them most of the time. Of course, it doesn't sound too good but it does the job reasonably well unlike 90% of violin synths :V.
-
Sup! Hows this sound?
www.echelon5.net/max/remote_1_leads.mp3 (http://www.echelon5.net/max/remote_1_leads.mp3)
I took your sample and highpassed it to just get the lead guitar. So yeah it sounds kinda gross, bpm desyncs, sorry hehe. They should also be mixed in louder too.
And I just got to that transition part at the end, definitely want to do that differently, though I like the drum fills :D
Here is version without leads:
www.echelon5.net/max/remote_1.mp3 (http://www.echelon5.net/max/remote_1.mp3)
I'm thinking for general arrangement sticking more or less to the original, IE
intro -> transition thing -> (0:49) first melodic theme -> back into intro riff but with a variation? (1:34)
then maybe not sticking to the original necessarily past that?
-
Awesome brah, sounds real Amon Amarthy. And that fomat sounds good, but yup, i'm sure we can overhaul that last transition part. Look forward to hearin what ya come up with next.
I'll mess around some more over this week, but lemme know if ya get any more ideas~
-
Haha, you're right, sounds super Amon Amarth. Didn't occur to me last night, srs :V
Anyway, will record some more today!
-
Added a little variation on the end of the rhythm part and took a stab at the transition into the melody - hows it sound?
http://www.echelon5.net/max/remote_2_leads.mp3
edit: should also probably PM small updates huh? don't want to clog up your thread :P

It's recorded beyond peak levels, leading to extra unneeded distortion. Reduce your amp gain and normalize the output after recording.
I also don't like the drumset, and feel it needs more reverb.
Also needs mixing....
-
Hehe sorry, I hope I'm not hurting anyone's ears. Believe it or not, the guitars are all coming in at like -6 db even post-distortion (so the distortion that's there is all intentional), the problem is everything in the mix is cranked and there's just a measly compressor sitting on top to make it clip slightly less. I see the waveform when I'm rendering, it's a rectangle :P
I definitely want to mix it better, and tinker with the drum sounds, but first things first...
-
Howdy ya'll, been a while huh, remember me? Well either way, here's a new acoustic arrangement to enjoy. First half is Apparitions Stalk the Night, and the second half is Night Sakura of Dead Spirits. Enjoy guys and gals, catch ya later.
