Hmm different art style, it remember me that flash animations. I liked more the Youmu and Yuyuko ones, but it's like that Yuyuko has only one leg :P Can you draw some of these of Alice, Yukari or Nitori? :D

My biggest dilemma was what pseudo-medieval weapon to give Utsuho. I ended up giving her two gauntlets and designed them so that they'd at least look cool. Or something.

I intended for this to be like the Yuugi drawing, but I neither knew how to draw people standing on something nor how to draw a guillotine at that time, Now it looks like Suika has a hoof, and I honestly have no idea what that blade she has is supposed to be.

Gee, experimenting different things on the same subject gets rather bland. I used a thicker ink size on this one.

Same ink size as the last, but now with colors (?) and shading and messy stuff! I accidentally applied the coloring last, though, so it's not as nice as I wanted it to be. But I'm still pleased with it. Right arm is wrong, and Suika isn't bending her knees low enough to make it more dynamic.

This is for a RP group on dA. I'm experimenting with using only lines to color. The wings were kinda tacked on, because I forgot to draw them before I started coloring. The right sleeve has me confused, too.

Hmm I liked this one, for me you should make the tree's trunk textures too, like when you did that shadow effects in Suika, and that left branch's form looks a bit artificial.

So I figured that the secret to shading was using a giant-sized brush and stroking it lightly in the direction of the clothes.

I wanted to draw an antique dagger for Hina, but there wasn't enough detail on it, though, so I settled for putting an aura around her.
I compared it to the earlier drawings and found that the earlier ones were short. I've been drawing chibis all those times. :(

This was done in three hours. I was bored; consequently, this mediocre piece of art came out. I was going to go for a Dutch angle, but, too bad, the scale was too small.
This is why you should never leave me to executing character design.

I set the blinking to less than ~10 ms, but GIMP automatically set it to something slower. Something about evil CPU-sucking animations.

I used faint purple to do shade and almost gave her Byakuren-style hair. Once again, stupid right hand.

This was a depth experiment using a Dutch angle. I was confused while coloring the blue part of the third eye. Should I have used purplish blue, like the one near the red part? Also thanks Trance.

Using this (http://pokemondungeon.net/gallery/albums/Sugimori/DPPt/421Cherrim-Overcast.png) picture, I drew an Overcast Cherrim and tested my ability to approximate the colors on it.
I think Sunshine Cherrim is overrated in appearance. Overcast looks better to me.

And for me in that Utsuho pic, that giant fire ball should make some light effects in the rest of the picture, like create a shadow of the zombie-army in the ground. Also that Flag pole should be thinner, there's no way that Satori can hold it with that size :P

I do not like the way the background turned out. I tried to color the background as much as possible with layer blending, but the blurry white surrounding the figures- I don't like it. And, of course, the lack of anything in the background besides the sky is driving me nuts. The Netherworld is obviously not that empty.

Perhaps try figuring out where they'd be standing like that? Are they in front of the Saigyouji mansion? Are they near the Endless Stairs? Or are they in some other area where all you can see are trees or something? The Netherworld's usually identified by its iconic cherry trees(And I'm not even mentioning the demonic one...), isn't it?

Since I'm studying photo manipulation at school, my teacher allowed my class to goof around with GIMP for a day before we got to the actual lessons. So I messed around with layer blending.

I tried to copy Takehito Harada's style (of Disgaea fame), and I really couldn't pass up the opportunity to do Reimu in a Female Samurai's outfit. After finishing this, I took a look at my line art. It was a mess. :fail: At least I learned a bit about anatomy.

Yeah. I was actually deciding on whether to do that or not, just to stick with the whole Japanese screen and ink style. I'll take that to mind.

1) I tried drawing Myon, but I didn't know how to handle the transparency with the gray background. It would have been impossible to make a clear Myon.

I know that you improved your art but in that "Draw this again! meme" I don't see "improvement" because the styles are different I think, so you can't compare them. The older one is Chibi while the newer one is more realistic. Try to improve Chibi-remi to see how did you improved in Chibi-style :P

I'm trying to draw Remilia, and eventually Patchouli, in 19th century European fashion (not ZUN's lolita style); although I realize I should have drawn her in 17th century fashion instead. In Gungnir's place is a matchlock rifle that is COMPLETELY OUTDATED BY THE 1800's. :fail:

Ahh european fashion, I do love their poofy skirts so. I like the rifle in place of her gungir too.
I would suggest you google up similar dresses, get their colour schemes, change the hue to red(or black, or blue, or white, or whatever you want remi to wear) and then keep playing with the skin colours until they finally match. Also, you could try lightening the opacity of the lineart layer if the colors are too contrasted against the black lineart (though this probably only apply to me <_<;; )

Not that i have any right to say this since i make the mistake myself :v but i think you couldve added more more contrast to your shading, especially since it's in monochrome. The hair could be a much lighter shade for example.
But crazy improvement overall ! good jorb

It was supposed to be Yukari, but I realized there was nothing distinguishing about her that I couldn't identify her as Yukari. Derp. I was just practicing faces and sleeves.

I would have changed my entry for this week's Guilty Alice prompt if I had stayed up last night. Oh well. No hair decs made Youmu a bit hard for me to identify, and foreshortening made the arms look weird. Well I think that Utsuho has spiked hair wisps at her head's sides, so if you add more of it she could look more like Utsuho. Also you shouldn't forget the third eye, the third leg and the concrete foot :P

I personally like first post version more. It has that bewitching feeling similar to that of military ghosts, while later picture seems to lack it.
I wonder if "bewitching" actually means what I've thought reading its dictionary entry, though seems like this word still goes well here. :V
I see you're developing your own style, distinct from others here, and yet having its own charm. Keep it up! :3

First thing I notice is that she looks like she has depth to her body, which is a big improvement over what used to seem 'flat'.
Then, I notice the left hand's thumb should be on the outside of her body since the palms a facing up. A simple way to double check is to simply take your hands and put them in front of you both with your palms facing down. You notice the thumbs should be pointing toward the body. Now if you put your hands with palms up, you'll notice that the thumbs point outward.
But besides that, that looks like an extremely uncomfortable position for the left arm. Try doing it yourself. I'd say try looking up some basic martial arts stances for good reference. This also might help the right hand from looking like she's fist pumping the air. Maybe rotate the wrists more towards her face (so we don't see the whole front part of the right hand - the awkward part), and then tipping the wrists a bit forward, almost like a flexing pose.
Your ears also seem very out of place, and not integrated well. I had this same problem with the Kyouko and other Rin pic of yours.
You've been improving a lot though, so keep it up!

1) Right when I draw an actual anatomical figure. :o I'm not sure if the depth was carried over into the base colors, though.
2) Yeah, the left hand was pretty uncomfortable. I've changed that now, but I haven't gotten to rotating the right hand wrist yet. (I'm planning to have Rin hold a weapon, probably a scythe, in her right hand)
3) I'm not sure exactly where the ears are placed. Behind the start of the bangs?

Update #3. Right hand was changed, and shading has commenced. I predict that I will epic fail drawing Rin's tails, which I have repeatedly messed up during previous attempts. :V

I wonder if her tails are long enough to even reach the bottom of that skirt. :3
In official sources I'va found those tails aren't depicted either, so it may be safe to assume her tails aren't visible under her short official skirt, neither under long one here.

That shading is the best thing, especially around the right hand and all over the dress, wow.
The only complaints I have would be that it looks somewhat awkward on the right arm, and that it makes it look like the left hip is coming out of thin air. Maybe rounding that part out a bit more could work.

1) I'm sure the right thigh is the one that's too thin. It's not in the correct position for standing. (could be said for both legs tho)

I think that the connection between arms and the body looks a bit strange. Maybe some problem with the chest muscles. Also I think that the girl should have larger hips.
