The Story of HUMA in Eastern Wonderland
---World of Empty Dreams (Stage 3)
I may be the only person who thinks this, but I don't think any of the stage themes in this game are bad.  That said, the boss themes (except Marisa's and Mima's) are godawful.

Phantasmagoria of Dim.Dream
---Visionary Game ~ Dream War (Rikako's theme)
If the second melody wasn't so repetitive this wouldn't be all that close.

Lotus Land Story
---BAD Apple!! (Stage 3)
This BGM wins THE award for Best Use of PC-98 Instrumentation.  The next two picks would be Alice Maestra (Stage 4) and Dream Land (Stage 6) - I love how the latter gets across the feeling of "well, this is unexpected.  Here comes the end, for real".

Mystic Square
---Alice in Wonderland (Extra Stage)
I dislike Mystic Square almost all the way down.  I adore the stage portion of the Extra.

The Embodiment of Scarlet Devil
---Locked Girl ~ The Girl's Secret Room (Boss 4)
Those minor chords make this song a standout among a bunch of really primitive songs tbh.  The other two mentions are Septette (Boss 6) and Centennial Festival (Extra Stage).

Perfect Cherry Blossom
---The Doll Maker of Bucharest (Stage 3)
The most evocative song in the game, followed by Ancient Temple (Stage 5).

Immaterial and Missing Power
---Lunar Clock ~ Luna Dial (Sakuya Night)
Because METAL OUT OF NOWHERE.  I'd actually put the long version of the title theme as the honorary mention; if I wanted to describe Gensokyo in music that's what I'd use.

Imperishable Night
---Voyager 1969 (Stage 6)
IN was the first game I played, and I found a lot of the music to be weird and gratey.   Oh wait, those were ZUNpets.  But still.  Song of the Night Sparrow (Stage 2) is definitely my second pick.

Phantasmagoria of Flower View
---Eastern Judgement in the Sixtieth Year ~ Fate of Sixty Years (Theme of YAMA)
All of the arranges were horrible, and the rest ranged from meh to listenable.  In that environment I'll take music of YAMADRAMA.

Shoot the Bullet
---Sleepless Night in the Eastern Country and Retrospective Kyoto can fight it out; they're both excellent for what they attempt to convey.

Mountain of Faith
---Fall of Fall ~ Autumnal Waterfall (Stage 4)
Gensokyo/Gods Loved (Stage 3) comes up right behind, and Special/Not (Extra Stage) after that.  The middle two stages of Mountain of Faith were incredibly atmospheric.

Scarlet Weather Rhapsody
---Flowering Night (Sakuya's Theme)
Somehow this song not only became good, but GLORIOUS.  Honorable mention goes to the arrange of Tenshi's theme.  SWR's soundtrack is actually pretty solid on the whole; I particularly like the Dancing Water Spray/Fragrant Plants combo and the incidental music.

Subterranean Animism
---Hartmann's Youkai Girl (Extra Boss)
With Last Remote (Extra Stage) right behind it.  I'm one of those people.

Undefined Fantastic Object
---UFO Romance in the Night Sky (Extra Stage)
Followed by the entire rest of the soundtrack, except Ichirin's theme and the credits theme.  Incredible game, incredible soundtrack.  Although I think my opinions of games are more heavily influenced by the sound and background than anything I'm dodging.

---Our Hisou Tensoku (Incidental Music)
You know you love it.  The soundtrack here is about as solid as SWR's.

I wish I could remember the names of the tracks from Fantastic Danmaku Festival, unfortunately I cannot find them anywhere except for within the game. T_T

At least for Mystical Power Plant, I would like to mention that Life-Guiding Song ~ Prospect Mirai is WAYYYYY too good a theme (runner ups would be Sky-Filling Spirit ~ Lightning Word and Tenmu Meteor ~ Royal Monster) for bosses, and Turbulence Turbine (the Stage 4 theme) is definitely my favorite stage theme in the game. I do like the Stage 2 theme and Stage 6 theme as well. The whole soundtrack is good and it's really hard to pick runner-ups, but my favorite for each is definitive.

Far and away Swordsman of a Distant Star. Far and away my favorite PC-98 song, too, and one of the best songs in the series in my opinion.

SoEW:
Himorogi, Burn in Violet. A good song out of a game with the weakest soundtrack overall. Nothing else to say.

PoDD:
Reincarnation. Similar circumstances to Himorogi, burn in Violet.

LLS
Either Dream Land or the boss theme that immediately follows it.

MS:
Shinki's theme, no contest.

EOSD:
Remilia's theme. Nothing else even comes close. Not even Flandre's theme or the ex theme, imo.

PCB:
The Capital City of Flowers in the sky narrowly beats out Yuyuko's theme for this.

IN:
The Stage 3 song with an overly long name. Third best stage theme in the series, in my opinion. Don't really know why.
