She has one nonspell and two spell cards. Always three patterns.
Patchouli, Keine, Sanae, Kogasa, and Nue: 3 spells.
Chen and Kanako: one nonspell, two spells.

Kanako has 3 spells and 1 nonspell. None of them have 3 nonspells though.

I don't think it works like that. Things that go to Gensokyo are more things that have faded from the public consciousness than things that are lost.

CoLA had that part where Rinnosuke muses about an original Game Boy for example.

People on the other hand, I dunno. Would probably result in an incident however!

Trance "revives" shrinked spirits in Ten Desires. I mean, if you use trance when there are divine spirits floating on screen and dont collect them (wich also means not playing as Reimu) then after trance ends all spirits are fullsize again, no matter how close to vanish they were before trance. That helps a lot when it comes to refilling your trance gauge at some places.

That actually makes Reimu's spirit absorbing seem like a weakness. As someone else you can leave all of the spirits and collect them after the trance to recharge more quickly.

Yeah. That's why (along with more power) i prefer TD Marisa more than Reimu.

It's a really awesome tactic in, say, Stage 2 where you can get like 4 (x2 = 8) bomb spirits at once. Really.

Yeah. See my run where i tranced stage 2 three times, gathering all life pieces at double rate.

P.S.: Ending fairies of Stage 2 give you 6 (x2=12) bomb pieces and 2 life. But the most ridiculous bomb galore happens at the end of stage 5.

Heh, I missed that. I guess Remilia is playable even though she must be in a team. I guess Phantasmagoria games are the exception.
But canonically speaking, Phantasmagoria games are not incidents. The norm for Touhou playable characters is that they must be
human, which is why Reimu, Marisa, Sanae, Sakuya, and Youmu are playable.

As for Mystic Square, I consider that an anomaly.

They say stuff like this in the spell card rules themselves:

Well generally speaking,
- a youkai can now attack humans, notably the Hakurei shrine maiden, without ill consequence
- unlike the previous set of rules, youkai can now cause incidents without ill consequence
- a human probably isn't going to have the capability to start an incident, but the equal chance is given by allowing humans to stand up to youkai
Almost miraculously, these are all completely different scenarios that are solved with one concept.

The noise the game makes when you shoot the boss gets louder when she's low on health. I'm pretty sure that's what you're thinking of, and it happens in most of the newer games. (MoF and onward)

PoFV bullets reflected maintain their original velocities.

So THAT'S why I've had so many random turbo bullet from nowhere slam directly into my hitbox while playing with Aya...my level 2 is my own worst enemy.

ZUN stated in an interview in Silent Sinner in Blue that most of the viewpoints were from the human characters' perspectives, because youkai way of thinking is wierd compared to humans. I forget if he stated this was the case for the games as well, but it would explain why all the games besides the phantasmagorias and fighitng games (where it would be unavoidable) have you playing human characters instead of youkai.

Imperishable Night is an exception, but mainly because it's about a human teamed up with a youkai. So even tho youkai characters are playabe there, they're teamed up with human characters.

(Youmu's half-human, which is close enough, as shown by how she represents the human half of the ghost team. ...although solo Youmu can only get up to half human bar filled

)

Rinnosuke being half-human is probably close enough, too, which I suppose leaves Oriental Sacred Place (including when it was under a different name) as the only Touhou work that takes place primarily from a youkai viewpoint. Although fairies probably view things differently than most youkai.

there was also BAiJR, WaHH and the CiLR stories (not counting the "primarily from a youkai viewpoint" bit). *waits warmly for the next BAiJR, forgot the name but it's the content that matters, right?

I've noticed in HRtP that sometimes Reimu's pallet would alter and turn green (I think it was either dying or bombing on boss stages). Cut forward to PoDD, and what's Reimu's alternate pallet? Green.
