It's called "Fantasy Night of TouHou Project".

Yes, ZUN knows about it already, and it was removed from the AppStore.

EDIT: Touhou Wiki article.

Well, at least they give credit to Team Shanghai Alice on their website.

Doesn't make a difference that they stole the art and stuff from Imperishable Night, though.  >:(

Someone told me about this in school. I checked it out while waiting for the dentist to show up (long story, gotta get my wisdom teeth pulled :ohdear:)

It's not even a clone. Sure, the sprites and stuff are from IN, but the bullet patterns are different.
And the lag.
By god, the lag.
It's everywhere.

It'll be gone by Thursday, I hope.

Just what is this I don't even ~

Not quite a clone, but it's funny how the dev shamelessly ripped the assets from the official games (a big taboo from what I've heard), sold it on the App Store (against ZUN's derivative works policy), and then offers to bundle it with iAds for other commercial works (contrary to doujin dogma?). Don't forget about the really lag-tastic engine, not-so-workable control schematic, and extra money just to unlock other teams and Extra.

Waiting to see whether Apple will get this pulled amid ZUN's request, or if ZUN takes it up and personal instead.

This will probably perpetuate on Android even further, though, if the amount of unlicensed IP on the Android Market was any indication.

Yes..... they actually cloned it.. which is something though. I am not saying this is probably the first of such copyright validation... but you really expect more from a Iphone game? I don't know, those seem to be the quality of Flash games to me.. but the problem is commercial thingy, thus I will wait on what Zun will do.. or he did something already?

I can expect more for iOS games, but usually those games are quite costly in the iOS App Store, which is essentially a "race to the bottom" full of "freemium" apps.

Plus on the App Store apps have to first be examined by Apple before they are listed. This is one way of preventing security and IP exploitation.

I don't think it would be so bad if they gave part of their profits to ZUN, considering it's literally a port of IN to iPhone/iPad.

Although ads AND having to pay = :\
And having to pay to unlock characters = :\
And stealing fanart too.

In short - the "developers" are assholes.

...It's not even a port of IN.  It's like ten times lazier.

The good news?  ZUN knows about this and is doing something about it.  He's the only one who really can (Apple doesn't give a damn if apps are reported to inflict other people's copyrights - only if the original holder reports a problem)

Indeed. As for Apple, well, you've put a better summary of its position on IP infringement.

Now Google, on the other hand....

Go, ZUN!
Damn it, I'm always late for everything. But not too late this time!

As for the actual game, it seems it's not a complete port of IN. The explosions aren't really the "Touhou" kind of explosion, more like the shoot-ship-giant-explosion

(Is that Japanese dialogue in there I see?)

I heard about this yesterday from a friend who wanted to show me an awesome shooting game they found on the app market (yeah...he said awesome >.>)
Apparently the game was $5 at one point and you still had to pay for characters, correct? I don't know how apple even let this get on the market :wat:

They don't know about touhou. It's not like it's mainstream or anything.

Excuse the outburst but...

What the fuck, what the fuck? And you have to pay money to purchase extra teams? What the fucking fuck?

This is a literal insult to the Touhou series and ZUN; there's no shame, stealing material and putting it for sale taking essential parts of a Touhou game out as DLC. I shouldn't make jokes like "You know in Touhou 13, you'l have to pay 5$ to get an extra shot type".

Many are being stupid and are personally angry with Zun because of that no international Internet touhou fan product sales thing. I've seen some people say things so stupid as "Zun doesn't deserve to own Touhou" like he's being a Nazi with sharing it, riiiiggghhhht.

I wonder if such idiots are responsible for this mostly as an effort to spite him.

While I am angry with ZUN not wanting to sell wares internationally, leaving us with shops with terrible service like Palet Web.

Making a fan game is one thing, but stealing art assets like this and selling it off piece per piece is just disgusting.

Interesting theory...also shows a growing conflict of interest between traditional doujin dogma and the international audience (which appears to be more receptive to the online-happy western indie style and method instead). I take it his attempts to suppress international sales is a way to keep Touhou from getting commercialized into a full-fledged business and trade?

But at the end of the day ZUN's response to all this and the subsequent fallout will be very interesting to follow. Maybe this will result in even tighter derivative policy?

Health bar for player? wtf. Is this like a "eat the bullet" or smthing?

If you are copying IN, then at least ramp up the quality plx. This is a disgrace.

Please excuse my ignorance and cluelessness, but could you elaborate what's up with this "ZUN suppress international sales"?

I doubt it. This violates even the first policy he laid out.

Because ZUN's new guidelines sort of forbid people from using commercial channels to sell Touhou products, thus is becomes harder for westerners to get doujin products related to the series. Correct me if I'm wrong.

ZUN doesn't want non-free derivative works to be distributed digitally. (which is mainly a western thing)
Distributing physical copies via the internet is still OK though.

Well it was on his website in Japanese, and google translate fails, but IIRC Japanese-fluent members on here translated it to mean something like "Touhou fan works may not be sold internationally via webpages" (but are still ok otherwise)... There was some other kind of crackdown on H-material, I don't really remember the specifics of that. It didn't really apply to me much, but I just know that it really pissed some people off. I can understand being upset, dissapointed, or even slightly angry. But some people are making Zun out to be like some kinda greedy Nazi monster, and I think that's just ridiculous.

Which is also, I might add, entirely ZUN's prerogative.

I wouldnt mind that the graphics were stolen. But the game sucks too much. lol This is more like some guy trying to get mass profits from the touhou community. I just need to figure out who in the sane mind would spend money in a shitgame to unlock more shitty playable characters and more shitty stages.  :ohdear:
