Ran Quest! Yakumo chaos
« on: January 22, 2011, 12:19:03 AM »
>You are Ran Yakumo, the kitsune shikigami of Yukari Yakumo.
>It's spring, a time when you finish preparations for a feast to celebrate the awakening of your Mistress.
>For the last few months you were very busy with house chores and such and those tired you enough that you went to sleep early almost every day.
>Day by day gradually you had less and less time for Chen, your own shikigami, and told her to play around with friends for a while as you will be a little busy for Yukari's awakening.
>Chen did so. She left the Yakumo household pretty often, but recently she didn't come back.
>You were busy until the day of Mistress Yukari's awakening has come. It is almost a week since Chen didn't come back home. You got worried, but you knew that Lady Yukari would help in this matter immediatelly. Your spiritual bond with Chen allows you to sense if she's in any danger or  pain, thankfully.

>Apparently, your Master hasn't awoken at the special day. It wasn't that special, she liked oversleeping a little anyway.
>But Yukari didn't wake up for another three days. You decided to take the matter into your own hands and risk waking her up by yourself.
>Nothing helped, you tried everything. Shaking, magic, loud noises. Nothing helped. And Mistress still won't wake up. She's breathing, even snoring, but that's it.

>Chen didn't come back still. You don't sense any harm done to her, but her absense is making you worried more.

Thus your adventure begins, Kitsune.

Your Magic Power is counted by percentage level. Every time you use a spell possible for you to cast, percents are eaten up and gradually lower.
The lower the magic power level, the more tired you feel. When the level reaches 20% you drop out cold tired. If this level goes down to 5%, you permanently lose one of your nine fluffy tails, resulting ina  permanent loss of 10% Magic Power level capacity.
If the level would drop to 0%- you die, fail as a shikigami. Magic is serious business.
The Magic Power Level can be replenished back by eating, sleeping and resting.
Your current Magic Power Level is:
100%/100%

Inventory:
Here your items go. Currently you have nothing.

Quest log:
>Yukari's slumber.
Your Mistress' sleep is dangerously prolonging and you have no idea what might be the cause of it.

>Dissapearence of Chen
Your shikigami has vanished more then a week ago. You got worried a lot. You are connected with her with a spiritual bond, but that only allows you to sense if Chen's in any harm and danger.

> Do we generally invite people to the feast celebrating Yukari's awakening?

>This year you considered it, but you didn't do so. You decided to have a happy family feast, just like last year.

>Did we try the Prince Charming trick?

>This was the magic part. You are pretty sure that lips don't have magical properties and this wouldn't work. So you didn't try it out physically.

>List of possible spells to cast?

>a bunch of combat danmaku spells
>illusion magic (not allmighty, just fairly powerful)
>black magic

It's up to you if you want some concrete spells. and it's up to me to decide how much Magic Power Level those would eat.

> Put on some clothes.
You already have your typical outfit on, this includes your hat.

>Evaluate current fluffiness.
>Your fluffiness is currently on EX-Boss stage level in your opinion. The nine tails implicate this fact.

>Can we pack a lunch in case we're out for a while, to recharge?

>Yes, you can, but you can carry a limited amount.

>Current location.
>Yakumo house layout?
>You are currently in the living room of Yakumo household- a big, long hall with a pretty needlessly long table, fitting for Jesus and the apostles.

>Yakumo household consist of the living room where you are at this moment. it has a basement with supplies, a kitchen, a bathroom (some of the devices there are still unknown to you), Your room, Chen's room, Yukari-sama's room and an attic. So the house itself is rather big. In Japanese style. It's in the village of Mayohiga.

>Mind you only CONSIDERED going to Yuyuko, you didn't do it. Considering is not deciding.
>Your Magic Power level is still at 100% and you are still at your own Yakumo house.
>Travelling to the Netherworld and Hakugyoukuro itself is impossible for a mere mortal, but your Mistress is friends with Lady Yuyuko and you visited many times.
>Passing all the barriers and the directions itself without the aid of Yukari-sama would suck off 25% of your magic powers and took a whole day.

>You leave a packed lunch and some catnip by the door in hope of Chen coming back.
>You consider Reimu as another option. This one is rather closer by.  Flying there would take you 5% of magical power and wouldn't take long. Or you could take a walk without using any magic at all, but it would take more time.

> Let's not get the red-white involved just yet: she'd probably wouldn't know what's going on, and we don't need her tearing off to resolve an incident that isn't there yet. Let's go to the Netherworld.

>You drop the idea of involving that troublesome shrine maiden. Lady Yuyuko is the plan that's left

> Remember how to get to the Netherworld.

>You are quite sure you have to get pass the Sanzu River first before getting to the Netherworld and then the way to Hakugyoukuro is easy. Despite knowing how to actually break through the mighty barrier between the realm of the dead and the real world, You aren't quite sure how this will be possible, but it sounds simple enough. If you don't get caught by the Enma.

> Search Chen's room to find clues about who her friends are. Just look for drawings and the like. No need to dig for a diary. Chen probably doesn't know how to write anyway.

>You enter Chen's room. You know it well, you clean it often. Chen tends to leave toys around a lot when she plays. And thos elittle device things she gets from Kourin as presents... Oh, that Yukari-sama, she spoils her too much. But Chen's so cute!
>The room is tidy as you cleaned it yesterday. You open her drawer in search of some drawings and you do find some drawings indeed. One shows a scribble of some hut with a sign "Kurintouu". probably Kourindou. Chen likes going with Mistress Yukari for a visit to the shop clerk. He gives her sweets and these noisy little things called "video games".
>There's also some drawings with many colorful stick folks with wings. That might be actually fairies. You personally don't know any of them, sadly.

>You brace yourself and defeat all the embarrassment possible. This is for Yukari-sama! I must do this!
>You approach the sleeping youkai and you land a kiss on her lips.
>Yukari... snores a bit louder and continues to sleep.
>Sigh... We had to try this anyway.

Well then, players, which is it? Netherwolrd? Or Kourindou?

I already described how much effort the Netherworld would be.
As for Kourindou, you know the way as well, though it's not that close. It would require you to fly if you want to reach it today and it'll burn 10% of Magical Power.

I'll leave you to vote and the majority of votes will get their option. In about 6 hours I shall be back, count the votes and the choice shall be made.

>Most importantly, what do we know about what Yuyuko and Rinnosuke are like? Which could be trusted with knowing that Yukari isn't waking up and/or that Chen has gone missing? Aside from her general wisdom, do we have any reason to believe that Yuyuko in particular would know anything about waking up Yukari or locating Chen? Do we know anyone that would be particularly good at tracking down a person, or investigating someone's sleeping patterns?

>From the gut: If Korindou would be easier to get to/require less magickal usage, go there: We need to pace ourselves, there might be useful things there, and it gives a probable lead on at least one of our problems. If any fairies decide to be annoying on the way, we can interrogate them about Chen as well - it's more likely ones near the Forest of Magic would know than near Higan. Unless Chen has been getting herself into far too much trouble... oh dear...
>But she's not hurt, so something like that is unlikely - focus on getting information about where she's been seen and who she's been with rather than guessing blindly.

>... does the shikigami "harm and danger" link go both ways? Would we be able to summon Chen by taking a frying pan and applying it directly to the forehead?

Rinnosuke?
Yuyuko?

>You know that Yuyuko's a good friend of Yukari-sama, you are aware of her power and the type of person she is. It goes almost the same for Rinnosuke. Yukari visited him quite often too, with you on board.
