And not just any Touhou glasses. Official Touhou glasses.

Tokyo eyewear store eyemirror announced that it is offering eyeglasses in the design of two characters from the Touhou Project dōjin games, in a collaboration with Shanghai Alice. The unisex glasses come in two styles: Hakurei Shrine maiden Reimu (size 52-16-137), and witch Marisa (size 51-17-140).

Each design of glasses is limited to only 200 serial-numbered pairs. Each pair of glasses comes with an original glasses case and original glasses cleaning cloth. Each pair will cost 13,650 yen (about US$156), and are planned to go on sale on January 5.

According to eyemirror, Shanghai Alice was unsure of whether to do the collaboration when first asked by eyemirror, as there are no characters in the Touhou Project universe who wear glasses. However, Shanghai Alice understood the passion of the glasses artisans who wanted the collaboration to happen, and decided to give permission to produce the glasses. Then, eyemirror commissioned the company ?sign," who had also produced the popular ?Less than human? glasses previously, to produce the ?TOHO MEGANE? brand of glasses. After considerable effort was made drafting the designs, the glasses were approved for sale.

Surprised that they state there are no glasses-wearing Touhou characters. Maybe they've been working on this since before TD? And just decided to ignore Rikako and Rinnosuke. Which would be pretty cool, actually - it would mean they actually spent time on this.

I'm really amused by the Marisa glasses (though I'd go for the Reimu glasses if I had the chance).  The trigrams on the rims are a nice touch; looks as if you can fire Master Sparks from your eyes.

Anyway, I don't feel they'd look good on me. I wear rim-less glasses and I think it's the only thing that works. However, those Nue glasses look pretty sweet.

So, I'm looking at series 3 (which are EoSD inspired.), and Sakuya's got a Monocle design? Somehow, I think Flan's the most uncomfortable one, they look like kunais about to stab your ears down.

I prefer the Marisa glasses over the Reimu ones(it's a little plain 8( ) but they're kinda hipster for my taste ;__; Then again, not like I have money to throw on fandom glasses though I've been needing a new pair of spectacles for a long time now..

I might not be too keen on Reimu but those are some awesome looking glasses. If they ever make Byakuren's pair then I'd buy them. Some of Remilia's pairs look like they'd hurt though.

Meh, I think they should have made glasses like these for maximum troll factor  ... in fact I sorta would like to see fanart thus now ... ugly as heck, but they're damn-near indestructable (and with my prescription I can see sideways looking forward :V) -  probably the only regular glasses that could stand up to a danmaku barrage.

From the list provided, the Youmu ones do indeed look the best, but I'm not sure a) how comfortable any of them would be to wear for an extended period of time or b) given the cost of the frames (or do those include lenses) whether the materials and design will be good looking or cheap.  The worry in anything like this is that style takes precedence over substance and they become unusable for their original purpose ...

... or am I overthinking a costume prop?
