The MotK server is up and running, here's the thread. You can go there and ask for your name to be added to the whitelist, and then you're game.

If you haven't heard yet, Jeb's been working on tweaking mincraft along with his AI friend.

A snapshot update reveals that there will now be Jungle Biomes, climable vines, and even a new AI for the zombies. If anything, I have to say that Jeb's leading things in the right direction.

Jeb made it backwards compatible so no need to change the map for the update.  Also, the full change list for the snapshot:

No, I actually did. The previous night. About replacing ladders in a 1x1 shaft with vines, then climbing them in an odd fashion. I am really weird.

But yeah, this is going to be cool.

I accidentally splattered myself twice when I was trying out the IC2 Iron Fence descent function. Really, it's not well defined in the wiki - if you hold crouch approaching the fence, it's just like ladders - you won't start going down. If you forget to hit crouch before you reach ground, you fall like normal and splatter. It just so happened that the pole was next to a ledge, so when I splattered, I ended up scattering my items up to forty squares away horizontally, instead of however far it would have had I smashed on the floor I was expecting.

At least there was no lava - I pumped that lake out ages ago.

Now, to wait for Advanced Machines to finish updating, so I can try out agriculture.

New Snapshot is up!

This week's changes includes jungle saplings(and can grow gigantic trees if 2x2 sapplings are placed), new AI for the skeletons and zombies (They will run from sunlight and get into the darkness wherever they can find it), graphic features, and the new mob jungle....

The Ocelot.

Ocelot is another tamable animal that can be tamed and be turned into cats! Cats can be bred and when bred it can give birth to kittens of unique types. Include black, red and saiamese!

That's it for this weekly snapshot.

Oh and Notch wants to invade your privacy in Minecraft. :P AKA collect anonymous data. Recently holding a poll. Though he admited that he want's to make the data collection automatic with the option to "Opt-out" because he doesn't want to "opt-in" becauese he thinks the most casual players will ignore it.

Very interesting changes. Not too thrilled about the snooping part, though. I'll be opting out of that when given the opportunity.

Was there any word on what the different types of cats could do? Probably would just be for looks.

I don't mind this kind of snooping though, it's good statistical data gathering to direct the game towards what the userbase wishes for

Forums can be misleading, most people don't even go in the forum anyway. Plus manual collection of data takes a lot more time and effort.

Being a cat person, I approve of the ocelots and cats a lot.

Irrelevant: I know the texture pack does half the magic, but dayum. Look at this guy's skill in architecture. Good-looking? Definitely. Large? Quite so. Does it feel overly spacious? Nope. Ornaments? Plenty, but nothing extreme.

I actually copied the house from the video. >_> Took me a while because there is no tutorial out on how to build that particular house and glass panes weren't available back then and I used panes, which kinda screwed up the overall look in one place, but I fixed that with some regular glass.

Apparently there's a bit of a weakness when it comes to logistic pipes - if you make a huge enough order (requiring lots of autocrafting), it's possible to overflow because the system leaves one of the primary components for last.

Building six (yes, six) LV Solar Arrays (from Advanced Machines - costs eight Solar Panels and an LV Transformer apiece) from scratch, and the pipes apparently forgot that the first prerequisite for the thing is Furnaces... lots of them. The Cobblestone started to pump out last, after a few RE-Batteries had already fallen out of the table.

Huh... just noticed that blaze rods can be used as fuel instead of coal. They can be used to smelt up to 12 items per rod. That makes blaze farms pretty useful to have!

Strafe does not seem to mind me sharing it, so here goes. Spoilered ahead is the forbidden knowledge on how to make your chat messages (and more) colorful (again, and more). It seems largely unknown as of now. Read at your own peril.

Typing § followed by a single character can change the properties of your messages in chat as well as the names of your Minecraft worlds.
Typing numbers 0-9 generally changes the colour. Same for letters a-z. With one exception. §k allows you to type characters that change unreadably fast, much like the ones in the end poem, but faster. Only works with the default Minecraft font, it seems. So you will see normal letters if you use, say, the pirate speak localization, which alters the font the game uses.


I doubt this will ever be fixed as this does not seem to me to be a bug or anything of the like in the first place. Unless of course it becomes a problem to the community, then I'm sure Mojang will change it somehow. It's pretty neat.
