I doubt Yuugi would have lost to Shizuha if voters weren't taking moe into consideration. Then again, maybe Yuugi fans just aren't the kind of people to participate in this kind of thing.

On the other hand Kyouko's support *completely vanished* after the first half of the match. Meanwhile, everyone piled on Patchouli and, surprisingly, Renko. Not that I can't see the moe in Renko, but...the group had Patchy and Kyouko for crap's sake!

The only one from the results I'm kinda confused about is the "Sakuya" moe factor.

I never EVER saw anything moe from her. Maybe elegance and perfectionism and maybe even a motherly figure, but I doubt anyone ever saw her as "moe". It just ain't her.

Well, a big factor is who she was up against. It's not like Maribel is bursting with moe, I've never seen her say anything interesting, much less endearing, in canon.

But Sakuya isn't devoid of moe, especially with her character development as of PoFV. Being the only one that actually heeded Eiki's ~~lecture~~ advice, she decided to stop being so cold and try to show some warmth to others. She isn't the same icy stabby maid she was in PCB anymore.

Also, as I mentioned in the vote thread, I think having the amount of devotion and diligence that Sakuya has is pretty moe. (Momiji will get my vote for that same reason.)

I have to agree to a certain extent, but if the fandom is all over how cute a character can be, I'll probably stick to that one. Just look at Alice. Also, a milligram of moe won't put a dent in the 100 kilograms of scrappy/squick attributes I see in a small percentile of the characters (though Iku isn't one of the 3-4 that I'm thinking of). Might be that way with many others, too.

I'd prefer to go by canon because otherwise there's a lot of different interpretations a person could go by.

Case in point, relevant to today: CHEEEEEEEN is pretty much a complete fabrication. The real Chen is uppity, bossy, and aggressive, more like a rambunctious teenager than a child. I'll be picking the lazy shrine maiden over her, regardless of how futile it might be

Hell, the core term the entire tournament is based around has is nebulous at best. There are a wad of different ways to consider someone "moe".
